@GEAZY @HARDROCKLIVEORL @XL1067

who: where: when: info:

G-Eazy Hard Rock Live Friday, January 29th • 6pm (SOLD OUT) = StubHub HardRockLive/Orlando.com • @HardRockLiveOrl

Dressed in black with his hair slicked back, G-Eazy adds a touch of class to hip-hop. For as traditionally dapper as he may be, he’s got both feet firmly planted in the future. So what does the future look like for the producer, songwriter, and rapper? Well, it’s just as bright as he is… Raised in Oakland, CA, G-Eazy made the decision to enroll at Loyola University New Orleans because of their strong music industry program where he started to cultivate and craft his own inimitable style while still in college. For the budding artist, the partying wasn’t nearly as important as creating. He missed more than a few keggers so he could lay down tracks in his dorm room for a series of buzz-generating mixtapes culminating in his 2011 breakout, Endless Summer. aXis: You have accomplished major status without a major label, how does that happen? G-Eazy: The game is changing in a big way... The gatekeepers don’t control the gates, and the powers that be aren’t as powerful. You don’t need mainstream media outlets, the big TV looks, or the magazine covers. Print isn’t what it was 10 years ago, and TV ratings aren’t what they were 10 years ago, and social media certainly isn’t what it was 10 years ago – the power is shifting. aXis: With so many acts breaking out, who’s the next Jay Z or Diddy? G-Eazy: It’s actually shifting to a build it and they will come, for the first time.You see the death of the superstar, and you see the birth of all these self-made stars. aXis: So why can’t anyone just do it? G-Eazy: What that does is it takes the power away from the gatekeeper and puts it into the hands of the creators? You have to be dope, you have to find an audience, and reach that audience with your identity and your message! aXis: Were you in control of this ground up process as an indie artist? Give us the blueprint... G-Eazy: It all starts with the music, then it reaches out to the music videos, the visual experience. Then it goes into the track art, to the merchandise, to the live show, and partnering with brands and doing different collaborations. aXis: How hard was it, or eazy to put Oaktown on the hip hop map? G-Eazy: When you’re from the Bay Area, there’s this chip on your shoulder that you inherently come up with, because us, as a region, we’ve been overlooked in the grand scheme of the history of the genre and the culture. A lot of the slang, a lot of the style that we’ve seen, a lot of that originated in the Bay Area – but you don’t think of the Bay when you think of Atlanta, New York, LA, or Chicago – meccas of the culture of Hip Hop.
