TAHRIR ‌ THE PEOPLE’S SQUARE Based on a workshop between 7 Egyptian Architecture Students studying in the American University in Cairo and 21 Italian Architecture Student studying in University of Rome La Sapienza. Forming 7 teams, each with one Egyptian and three Italian students, where each team is supposed to com up with an archiectural solution to sustain the role of the Tahrir Square in the light of the 25 th of January Revolution.
BRIEFING Prepared by a group of architecture students in the American University in Cairo in order to brief University of Rome La Sapienza Italian Students on the history, architecture and the general behaviors in the square. The team members are: Ahmed Tarek Zaky, Aya Fayez, Salma El- Lakany, Hassan Safwat, Nagla El- Koreiby, Mariam El-Ibyari and Shahd Omar.
El Ahram weekly once wrote about el Tahrir Square:
"Tahrir Square is not only the hub of Cairo, it is home to some of the city's most important buildings and a constant headline-maker in the local press. Whatever happens in Tahrir immediately becomes a national concern."

FINAL POSTER After a 10 days workshop, a schematic design was produced.
Final Poster The final idea of the design is to create the maximum open area for the pedestrian’s use. In addition to having the total area without any vehicle circulation inside as a park, the ground floor of the buildings were designed to be demolished such that a totally opened area is created.
