09 Design Strategy | Insertion of “maker spaces into the generic office space

Insertion of collaborative innovation hubs [maker spaces] into existing corporate structures.

• Large incumbents / corporations need a way to re-invent themselves -- maker space will provide a venue for innovators and planners to explore ideas within their existing workplace. • Maker spaces will be the device for innovation and rapid-prototyping for corporations to quickly test ideas, develop tech apps, create videos for quick dissemination of corporate messages to the public, conceptualize product through prototyping interface / physical objects. • Consumers are geared towards innovative and new products, and having a rapid pace of creativity, will be attuned to the new consumer’s pace. Creative ideas & wealth creation are kept within the corporation. Corporations who invest in developing a nucleus within their corporation geared towards innovation (through tech, media and design) will have an opportunity speed up its consumer facing process.

[maker space] • Design [ Furniture and spaceplanning ] that induces collaboration and innovation between “makers” in the one space. Individual & communal tables & seating, as well as flexible boundaries are dispersed in the space. The furniture have the capacity to interlock and re-arrange to suit individual ideation and collective gatherings and events.

11 Abstract | Programatic diagram

The [maker space] is designed as a landscape — a field condition where individual and collective interlock and where boundaries within are broken down and redefined — Re-designing and accelerating the way we work to induce innovation.

[maker spaces] =

(s)

are rapid-prototyping and collaborative work-spaces, as a product to be inserted in generic offices. They are conceived as new venues for “making”[HIMô] – facilitationg its users to ideate, collaborate, critque, share, fast-forward, product refine, make ideas accessible and business develop and innovate.
