Good evening everyone and welcome to Haywood Way for tonight’s league encounter with Hadley FC. We finally managed to pick up 3 points at the weekend after a frustrating month of results on the pitch and hopefully we can continue to gain positive results in the remaining fixtures in April. We have suffered with availability which has seen a changing squad which hasn’t helped continuity but at the same time it’s allowed me to have a look at some of our U18s and Development players in a first team environment. After tonight’s game we travel to top of the table New Salamis who are in fine form currently so we will need to be at our best for that one but hopefully we can go there with the confidence of another win tonight. Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football. Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league. the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League. Phil Granville and Ben Gill were appointed midway through last season and will kick off the 2020/21 season again in the Spartan Premier Division. Steve Bateman was re appointed as manager in September 2021 Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times. In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Meet The MANAGEMENT Steve BATEMAN – Manager Bateman has enjoyed an illustrious non-league career, starting his playing days with Hemel Hempstead before joining Everton, where he went on to win the FA Youth Cup before later playing more than 300 games for both Chesham United and Slough Town. His managerial career started at Chesham but he also managed Berkhamsted Town, guiding them to a memorable FA Vase final at Villa Park, and local rivals Hemel Hempstead who he led to promotion to the Southern Premier League. Bateman was appointed Aylesbury boss in 2013, replacing Craig Faulconbridge, and spearhead a strong promotion push in 2014/15 finishing third to Royston and Kettering, Aylesbury's highest ever league position, before losing out in the play-offs to Bedworth. Bates then bought the biggest trophy back to Haywood Way when in 2016 Aylesbury defeated Chesham United 1-0 in the Berks and Bucks Cup Final at Windsor FC before departing the club at the end of that season. He then returned to Berkhamsted, this time gaining promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League in April 2018 before two succesful seasons in the the Southern League, helping them to a 6th place finish in his first season before ending season 19/20 in top place prior to the null and void decision due to Covid. Steve's then teamed up with Lee Bircham and Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South before ending their tenure earlier this month. Davis HAULE – Assistant Manager Davis is a Haywood Way legend and returns to Steve Bateman's management team as Assistant Manager. He will also be an important player in the middle of the park. Davis made nearly 200 appearances for Aylesbury between 2012 and 2019 and managed the side for a season and a half between 2016 and 2018. He brings with him an immense amount of knowledge of the non league game and will be an invaluable source of experience to the young players but also to the management team. John LAWFORD – Assistant Manager John was a prolific goalscorer throughout his career, which started at Luton Town, and he subsequently played for a number of clubs, including Bishop's Stortford, Hayes, Aylesbury United, Wokingham Town, Berkhamsted Town, Chesham United, Harrow Borough, Boreham Wood, and Waltham Forest.

Meet The PLAYERS Dan MCATEER Dan returns for another season at Aylesbury. Started his career at Borehamwood as a Goalkeeper before breaking his leg in an FA Cup match. Has also had spells as an outfield player, has two good feet and fantastic distribution. Adds experience to a young Aylesbury side

Paolo BAGATTI Paolo joins from Leighton Town and has also had spells at Tring Athletic. Can play anywhere across the back four and will be a threat with his head from set pieces

Kyle LINCOLN Experienced left sided defender who numbers Barton Rovers, Bromsgrove Sporting, Bedford Town and St Ives Town among his previous clubs since making his debut for Dunstable Town in season 2010-11

Will MULLARKEY Will started the season in the Development Squad and has progressed into the first team. Can play either at right or left back

Gael MUYONGE Gael is a defender/midfielder who joined the club from Hampton & Richmond. Physically strong and powerful in the tackle Gael Has mainly been used from the bench.

James WEATHERILL James rejoins from Southern League Aylesbury United. Originally joined Aylesbury in the 2013/14 season making 165 appearances for the club. One of the best goalkeepers at this level. Excellent shot stopper and excellent communicator. Commands his area well. and a fans favourite.

Luke NUGENT Nugs is a defender who joined last season after spells at Northwood and Edgware. Can play full back or at centre half and has made a big impact since signing last season

Alex MITCHELL Alex is a product of the Dynamos U18s and Development Squad. Progressed into the first team this season and now is a regular in the Dynamos defence.

Terry GRIFFITHS Imposing Central Defender who made one appearance in the season before last. Re joined last season and made an immediate impact shoring up the Dynamos defence. Has plenty of experience at this level having had spells at AFC Dunstable and Leverstock Green

Jack HODGINS Centre Half who has progressed from the Development side after some impressive performances. Good on the ball and very commanding in the air

Meet The PLAYERS Dave BROWN Dave is a skilful and energetic midfielder who signed from Winslow United prior to last season. Brownie never stops running and is a commanding presence in the centre of midfield and will captain the side this season

Matty CHEW Matty joins the club from Buckingham Athletic. Another energetic midfield player who has impressed during pre season. Loves to close down play and move the ball quickly.

Ollie LAWFORD Striker Ollie joins us from Leverstock Green where he scored 10 goals in his 21 appearances this season. Was previously at Oxhey and Chesham

Callum SHORTT Callum is an attacking winger who joins us from Newport Pagnell. He can play on the left or the right

Davide POBBE Town. This is his second spell with the club having made 19 appearances in 2017/18. Pacey attacking midfielder with a real eye for goal.

Alfi TOUCEDA Midfielder/Striker who has progressed from the U18s. Has made over 80 appearances since breaking into the first team back in 2017/18. Alfi is able to run all day and a natural talent with the ball. Skilful, classy and with and dangerous around the oppositions box

Ollie LEMON Tricky midfielder/striker joined last season after having spells at Oxford City and Rushden & Diamonds Good balance and excellent on the ball with the ability to go past opponents with ease.

Roy BYRON Experienced holding midfielder who joined originally in 2019 from Tring Athletic. Roy sits in front of the back four and marshalls the midfield and is a rock in the centre of the pitch. Roy played 29 times for Aylesbury in 2019-20

Brian HAULE ‘Hauley’ has had a long and distinguished career in non league football.. A strong and powerful front man, who knows where the goal is. originally joined Aylesbury in the 2011-12 season making 228 appearances before moving to Risborough in the 2019/20 season.

Chris STAPLETON Experienced striker who joins from Dunstable Town where he was club captain. Chris is very much a leader on the field and will score goals and add quality to a young forward line

Meet The PLAYERS Jake BALDWIN Young player who is another player who has progressed from the U18s side. Skilful on the ball and very calm in front of the goal. Made a great impact last season where he became a regular and scored six goals in a truncated season. Can play anywhere up the left hand side

Montel BROWN Lively striker who started his career at Aldershot Town until an unprovoked attack on him in 2017 cut short his career. Now trying to get back on track Montel scored a brace on his Dynamos Debit in Aug 21

Shah) L.Bowman(E.Rose), K.Collier, T.Dube Our chances of winning the Southern Midweek Floodlit League Champions for the first time in the Clubs existence disappeared in a spell of 4 goals from the 65th onwards. Despite losing Joe Hatton, Jet Dyer and Charlie Cawston we approached the game feeling confident after the victory at Kings Langley. On an understandably bobbly pitch the game was played at a tempo and after 10/15 mins of the teams battling for supremacy we then created 4 decent chances, 3 from open play and our usual missed header from a set piece. This has been an Achilles heel of ours all season. Leighton Town played some tidy football but were limited to one good chance and a couple of scrambles. But we gave as good as we got in midfield and consistently forced over hit passes. With nothing less than 3 points being a necessity the second period started with us on the front foot but Leighton Town much more in the game. We then missed two more golden opportunities before on 65 mins we failed to stop a cross and to cover round when the ball arrived on the 6 yd line. If I'm honest the greater experience of an older Leighton Town side showed and although there was no lack of effort there were too many poor decisions in critical areas. We started to force passes and were kept under pressure . Some 10 mins later the game was effectively finished with a second goal. Despite a number of changes and having one strike disallowed for a foul and a shot wide of the post we were caught on the break to give the scoreline a harsh look. Congratulations to Leighton Town for taking their chances and for their attitude in victory. A credit to their Club. •

Development Side Update With neither of the top two in league action this weekend Uxbridge retain the lead in the Suburban League with the Dynamos just one point behind but with three games in hand. Uxbridge have two home games left against Yateley and Farnham wheras the dynamos still have five to play with four at home so everything is in our hands. Hadley HISTORY Hadley Football Club were founded in the 1882/83 season. A notable achievement during the early years was a 1-0 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur, although Tottenham then was not of the calibre that it is now. The 1880's and 1890's were glamour times for Hadley when the club used to attract crowds of several hundred to Hadley common. With regret however, the progressive Barnet FC etc. drew players away from Hadley. This was at about the turn of the century. Club activities became low key around 1912 with Barnet FC becoming more prominent. Between these years and 1922 the club was up and down like a yo yo. Club fortunes again changed close to World War II and thereafter, with the emergence from the Hadley ranks of the famous Lester Finch who went on to play for Barnet FC and become a full amateur international. Records show an upturn in Hadley FC activities after World War II. The club became a member of the Barnet and District League and, from about 1947, played at Wrotham Park at the Barnet end of Kitts End Road. Hadley played there until about 1955 when it then moved to Barnet Playing Fields in order to "have some better facilities". The club played in the North Suburban Intermediate League at this time. Still playing at Barnet Playing Fields, the club then joined the Mid Herts League and with Peter Gray as 1st team manager, we were Premier Division Winners in 1975/76 and 1976/77. We also won the Mid Herts Premier Division Shield in 1976/77. Having won the Mid Herts Premier Division twice, the club wanted to progress to the Herts Senior County League so therefore moved to a pitch with better facilities in St. Albans Road, Barnet (current home of The Shire London Golf Club). We had one season at this pitch before being told that it was no longer available to hire. We won the Herts Senior County League Division Three at our first attempt during this season. However, we had to find a new home and played at a sports ground in Chandos Avenue, Whetstone (a training base for the England National team at the time), until 1985. The club left the Herts Senior County League to join the Southern Olympian League and moved grounds again to play at the Woodside Park Club, Southover, Totteridge. In 1992 the club moved to a ground in Brickfield Lane, Arkley, Barnet and re-joined the Herts Senior County League in the 1999/00 season. Under the management of Ian Gray, the 1st team won the Division One championship in 2001/02 to move up to the Premier Division in 2002/03, where we finished mid-table. Mick Hore was appointed manager in 2003/04 and we enjoyed a very successful season with the 1st team winning the Herts Senior County League Premier Division and the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy. 2004/05 was also very successful with the 1st team retaining the Premier Division title. Success continued into 2005/06 with the 1st team winning the prestigious Aubrey Cup. In 2006-07 the 1st team finished Runners Up in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division. An application to join the Spartan South Midlands league was blocked by the Herts County League, so the following season (2007-08) the club played all of its football in the West Herts Saturday League. During this season, all Hadley teams (3 teams) won their respective leagues for the first time in the clubs history. This included the 1st team winning the Premier Division of the West Herts League with Guy Slee in charge, having taken over from Mick Hore at the start of the season. We again applied to join the Spartan South Midlands League and our place in Division Two was accepted for the start of the 2008-09 season. The move to the Spartan South Midlands League saw the 1st team begin groundsharing at Potters Bar Town FC, and the reserves and 3rd team continued to use the ground in Brickfield Lane. Ian Gray replaced Guy Slee as manager at the start of the season, with Guy

Hadley HISTORY having stepped up into the role of Chairman, joined on the committee with the arrival of Bob Henderson as Secretary. Our first season in the Spartan South Midlands League turned out to be a very successful one with the 1st team gaining promotion to Division One at the first attempt after finishing one point behind The 61 FC (Luton). We also won the Division Two Cup after beating Totternhoe in the final. Our second season in the Spartan South Midlands League (2009-10) surpassed everyone’s expectations when we achieved another promotion after finishing in second place behind Holmer Green. We also won two matches in our first attempt at the FA Vase, beating Harpenden Town and then Leverstock Green, eventually being knocked out in a tight 1-0 defeat at Stanway Rovers. The 2010-11 season saw us again playing at the highest level in the club’s long history (Step 5 of the National League System), and we also enjoyed our first ever outing in the FA Cup, drawing 0-0 with Barking before losing 1-0 in the replay. Another highlight of the season was playing against Barnet in the 2nd round of the Herts Senior Cup, drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes before losing 4-1 in Extra Time. In January 2012, long-serving manager Ian Gray stepped down from the role of 1st team manager after 3½ successful years in charge, having guided the team from Division Two to the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League with back-to-back promotions. A new management team was appointed who were previously with St Albans City reserves. An influx of new players and the guidance of player-manager Alexis Nicholas saw us achieve our pre-season aim of staying in the Premier Division, as we ended in 15th position out of 22 teams. The start of the 2012-13 season saw Franco Sidoli join as 1st team manager having also left St Albans City during the summer. Franco was supported by a coaching team of Alexis Nicholas, Lewis Dommett and Hector Varela as we enjoyed a successful season with a comfortable mid-table finish and our first ever win in the FA Cup following a 2-0 victory over Hertford Town. We also reached the final of the Premier Division Cup when we were unlucky to lose 3-2 against Aylesbury United (After Extra Time), having taken the lead twice in the match. At the end of the 2012-13 season, Franco Sidoli stepped down as 1st team manager due to a change in work circumstances for 3 out of 4 people in the management team, including himself, which would not have allowed them to give 100% commitment to the job during the forthcoming season. The club appointed Geoff O'Vell as the new 1st team manager, who had previously been 1st team manager at Colney Heath, Hoddesdon Town and Broxbourne Borough. Geoff was joined by Assistant Manager Paul Surridge and coach Mark Mezen. A highlight during this season was drawing Watford FC in the 1st Round of the Herts Senior Cup. We lost 2-0 with goals from Luke O'Nien and Bernard Mensah securing the win for Gianfranco Zola's Championship side. We had mixed fortunes during the 2013-14 league campaign and although an improved end to the season saw us make a late climb up the league table to finish just below mid table, the club decided that a restructuring of the team management was required at the end of the season. This saw Geoff O'Vell and his management team leave the club. At the start of the next season (2014-15) Micky Hazard was appointed as the new 1st team manager. As a player, Micky was a member of the Tottenham team that won the 1982 FA Cup and UEFA Cup in 1984. He also went on to play for Chelsea, Portsmouth, Swindon Town and then Tottenham for a second spell. Since the end of his playing career, Hazard was Youth Academy Coach at Crystal Palace and was also involved on the management team of Sevenoaks Town and Hoddesdon Town. Hadley HISTORY Lewis Dommett and Hector Varela who were all well-known to the club as, along with Alexis Nicolas, they formed our 1st team management team during a successful 2012-13 season. The first season in charge for our new management team was very successful as we ended in 9th position in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division - our highest ever finish. We surpassed this in the following season (2015-16) as we ended in 6th position in the league and we also won the Herts Charity Shield for the first time following a 3-1 victory over Tring Athletic in the final at the County Headquarters, Letchworth. The 2016-17 season saw the return of our 1st team to Brickfield Lane in Arkley, Barnet, following over £500,000 worth of facilities improvements and eight years of groundsharing with Potters Bar Town. Ground improvements included the installation of floodlights, a spectator stand, new fencing and pathways, pitch drainage installation, a new car park and the refurbishment of the pavilion clubhouse and changing rooms. This was made possible thanks to grants and donations from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, Sport England, the Peter Harrison Foundation, the Happy Charitable Trust, Village Healthcare and the Back2Barnet campaign. A highlight of our first season back in Barnet was an outstanding FA Cup run, eventually being knocked out in a Third qualifying round replay against Eastbourne Borough who went on to beat Aldershot Town in the next round. The 2017-18 season saw a change of first team management with Anthony Clark being appointed in October 2017. As a player, Anthony appeared for Southend United before playing at a high standard of non-league football with teams including Hendon and Wealdstone. A very strong end to the season saw us finish in sixth place, our joint highest ever finish. The 2018-19 league campaign was our most successful in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, finishing in 3rd place, missing out on the Runners Up spot by goal difference. In the summer of 2019, following correspondence with the Football Association, a lateral movement saw Hadley FC moved to the Essex Senior League for the 2019-20 season after 10 seasons in the Spartan South Midlands League. This move was part of the Football Association's ongoing restructuring of the National League System and their move towards a "pure pyramid". A highlight of the 2019-20 season was reaching the Third qualifying round of the FA Cup, equalling our best ever run from the 2016-17 season. We eventually lost at Havant & Waterlooville, but getting that far in such a prestigious competition was an excellent achievement by Anthony Clark's team. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season then ended early and was declared null and void. Similarly, the 2020-21 Essex Senior League season was also curtailed due to the COVID19 pandemic but we had a fantastic run in the FA Vase, reaching the Fifth Round for the first time in the club's history. We were unfortunate to lose on penalties to Binfield who went on to reach the final at Wembley - this was another excellent achievement from Anthony Clark's team. In the summer of 2021, the Football Association again carried out some restructuring of the National League System and we were moved from the Essex Senior League back into the Spartan South Midlands League. It was a shame that we could not complete a full season in the Essex Senior League, and we enjoyed our time in that league and meeting some new clubs, but we now look forward to the 2021-22 season back in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.
