Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League the club will start the 2019 season in the South Midlands League after what has been a difficult and turbulent period. Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times.

In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Last Time Out AVDFC 2 Harefield United 2 – 25th Jan 2020

Late Harefield goal denies the Dynamos victory With Ben Gill and Alfie Gaspar injured and Keith Mupfururirwa away Jacob Troughton-Smith was drafted into midfield and Harry Scorr and Bruno Brito spearheded the attack. The bumper crowd of 201, out to support and pay celebration to Luca Campanaro were treated to a tense battle on a heavy Haywood Way pitch, which seven days ago was completly under water. Thi was never going to be a pretty affair but it was Aylesbury who started the most lively of the two sides and after four minutes Harry Scott had a Speculative effort which he fired high and wide, on nine minutes the ever influential Bruno Brito picked up the ball on the left edge of the away box and fired across the face of the goal, the ball was cleared but only to Harry Scott who couldn't get the ball out of his feet and failed to get a clear shot away and the attack came to nothing. Harefield, although not creating any clear chances, were now taking control of the middle of the park seemingly coping better with the conditions and on fifteen minutes had the best chance of the game when a rasping shot from the edge of the box and through a crowd of players brought out an unbelievable save from Dynmaos keeper James Weatherill who somehow turned the ball over bar. The Dynamos best chance came after twenty eight minutes when Bruno Brito played in Harry Scott and with the keeper advancing he slipped the ball past him but it rolled just wide of the post. Man of the match James Weatherill made his second fantastic save on the half hour as he tipped a ball headed for the top corner over the bar from Lenny Farhall. Two minutes later and the home side took the lead, Bruno Brito took the ball off of a Harefield player and sent a pass up the line which Jake Baldwin ran onto, he cut inside the defender and with his right foot bent the ball into the bottom corner of the Harefield goal.

One minute later and a mistake in the Aylesbury defence left the ball at the feet of Jack Waldren who slotted the ball home from six yards. Aylesbury re took the lead just before the break when an overhead kick from Bruno Brito in the middle of the park found Jake Baldwin and the young striker calmly fired the ball home for his second and the lead going into the break. With the pitch getting stickier as the game progressed both sides struggled to get a grip on the game in the second half but the away side had the first chance when Farhall tried to chip James Weatherill from distance and the keeper back peddeling ran into the post as the ball went wide. Bruno Brito then tried to lob Mallett in the Harefield goal but the ball went just over. With time running out James Weatherill was adjudged to have bought down a Harefield striker when to all the fans in the ground he had appeared to have cleanly taken the ball off of the striker and Lenny Farhall stepped up to equalise. All in all a fair result on a day where both sides paid a fitting tribute to a lovely young man in Luca and where the club raised ÂŁ1600 for the London Air Ambulance.

Last Time Out AVDFC 2 Eynesbury Rovers 1 – 28th Jan 2020

The Dynamos were back at Haywood Way, 3 days after the Harefield match and the pitch had “just” passed its pre-match inspection. It had now been 7 matches without a win for Dynamos (4 losses, 3 draws) and Phil Granville made 5 changes to the starting line up. Three new signings made their first starts this season with old stalwart, Ben Stevens, returning to the club from retirement and Kuda Butawo both starting. Ollie Leach, from MK Dons, also started at left back after an impressive substitute appearance on Saturday.

It was Eynesbury who were out of the blocks quickest on a very cold night testing James Weatherill in the Dynamos goal after only a couple of minutes, but James was equal to the shot and saved well. A few minutes later and Roy Byron won the ball and was fouled in the process. Joseph Fitzgerald took a quick free kick and set Abu Khan running off down the right wing. His trickery won a corner for Dynamos but it was cleared. However, Aylesbury kept the pressure up and less than a minute later Joseph Fitzgerald won the ball in the middle and found Kuda Butawo free, he played in Jake Baldwin, who beat the offside trap, and finished with a superb shot beating the keeper at the near post. That was his 3rd goal in 2 matches and put Dynamos 1-0 up. 9 minutes in and Alfie Gaspar played Jake Baldwin in again, but this time a great tackle from Eynesbury player stopped Jake getting his shot away. Jake was looking lively already and the 3 players behind him, Alfie, Abu and Kuda were all causing the Eynesbury defence problems. Eynesbury then had 10 minutes of good pressure. First Ben Stevens deflected a cross for a corner and the Eynesbury were unlucky as they got a shot away which James Weatherill saved at the second attempt, on the goal-line. 5 minutes later it was Dan McAteer who got in the way with another well timed tackle. This time Eynesbury made the corner count as a short corner allowed their nippy winger time to step into the box and fire past James Weatherill making it 1-1. 24 minutes and it was Eynesbury looking the more likely but again Dan McAteer stood firm and blocked the cross. This time the resulting corner came to nothing. However, a few minutes later Dan McAteer was involved in a crunching tackle which proved costly for him as he was unable to continue due to a knee injury. Lewis Merriden came in to right back from the bench. As Eynesbury continued to press the pace of Ollie Leach was impressive as he was called upon more than once to make up ground, which he did with ease and cleared his lines. Lewis Merriden was straight into action as a great one-two with Abu Khan saw Abu’s cross blocked for a corner. Craig Carby got on the end of the corner but was adjudged to have fouled. Straight down the other end and Craig Carby was then called on for his defensive duties as he cleared off the line as James Weatherill was beaten. Ollie Leach then finished the clearance. 43 minutes and Joseph Fitzgerald was again the architect as his ball found Jake Baldwin and his shot hit the hand of the Eynesbury defender. The referee had absolutely no hesitation and gave a penalty to Dynamos. With Bruno Brito not available, who would take the penalty. Again…no question as our young striker, Jake Baldwin, grabbed the ball, placed it on the spot and smashed an unstoppable penalty into the top left corner…2-1 Dynamos. The second half was a cagey affair as both teams struggled to keep possession on the now cut-up, muddy pitch. However Ollie Leach won the ball well and moved forward, finding Abu Khan on the right, he in turn played in Lewis Merriden who had overlapped superbly but his shot went wide of the mark.

Last Time Out AVDFC 2 Eynesbury Rovers 1 – 28th Jan 2020

51 minutes and Jake Baldwin found space on the left flank and he swung in a cross which eluded all and went just over the bar. It was becoming a midfield battle now and Joseph Fitzgerald and Roy Byron were bossing it and tackling well. 65 minutes and Dynamos looked to be tiring. Eynesbury moved forward, won a corner and the resulting header went over the bar‌a warning for Dynamos. Phil Granville then rolled the dice with a double substitution. Alfie Gaspar and Ben Stevens came off and Dan Wilson and Harry Scott came on. Then both teams had excellent opportunities to score. First Abu Khan played in Jake Baldwin, on a hat-trick, but his shot was well saved. Moments later at the other end, Eynesbury attacker beat the offside trap and with only James Weatherill to beat, his shot beat James but went inches wide of the far post. 87 minutes and Eynesbury were through again, but the lightning pace of Ollie Leach meant he caught his man, made the tackle and cleared the ball superbly. Dynamos players and fans hearts were in their mouths in injury time as Dan Wilson fouled the opposition on the edge of the area, picking up a yellow card in the process. The resulting free kick, in a dangerous position, was hit well but a few feet over the bar.

Harpenden Town History Harpenden Town Football Club was formed as Harpenden FC in 1891 playing in both the Mid-Herts and Herts County Leagues, winning the Mid-Herts on numerous occasions. Town was added in 1908.Town climbed into the South Midlands League in 1957 winning the Premier Division title in1962 and 1965 and in 1968 adding both the Herts Charity Shield and the South Midlands League Shield to their trophy haul. Season 1990-91 saw the last signifi cant investment in the club with the erection of the Centenary Stand, and, the installation of fl oodlights. The Club obtained entry to the FA Cup for the fi rst time in 1998 and is a regular contender in the FA Vase. After a turbulent period resulting in relegation from the Premier Division in 2000 and 2005. At the start of the 2006-07 season a new committee was in place their fi rst move was to gain the Football Associations Charter Standard Accreditation, which ensured the correct structures were in place.

The past two seasons has seen Harpenden make strides to secure its long-term future however with possibly the worst facilities in the league due to lack of investment and vandalism over the past 20 years we face a massive task to completely turn around the HARPENDEN TOWN club’s fortunes. We now have a new football management set up with local loyalties and most new players come from the local area. Off the field there is a new committee of local football fans who have not been involved with the club before supported by the old committee and others who still assist with the running of the club. In 2015 having successfully obtained £100,000 of funding the club’s facilities have been refurbished which has had a positive impact on the club and its profile. 2018-19 was the last for the very successful manager Danny Plumb and the 2019-20 saw the new boss Martin Standen (Stanno) take over the reigns and with it comes a new squad of players. Martin has guided Harpenden Town towards the top half of the table and they have had some notable results in recent weeks. The Harps managed a 3-2 win over Tring Athletic and a 2-1 success over Biggleswade United plus 3-1 wins over Eynesbury Rovers and Oxhey Jets. Their good run of form was halted by a 3-3 draw against Edgware Town over Christmas and last weekend they went down 1-0 at home to current league leaders Colney Heath
