Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football. Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league. the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League. Phil Granville and Ben Gill were appointed midway through last season and will kick off the 2020/21 season again in the Spartan Premier Division. Steve Bateman was re appointed as manager in September 2021 Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times. In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Meet The MANAGEMENT Steve BATEMAN – Manager Bateman has enjoyed an illustrious non-league career, starting his playing days with Hemel Hempstead before joining Everton, where he went on to win the FA Youth Cup before later playing more than 300 games for both Chesham United and Slough Town. His managerial career started at Chesham but he also managed Berkhamsted Town, guiding them to a memorable FA Vase final at Villa Park, and local rivals Hemel Hempstead who he led to promotion to the Southern Premier League. Bateman was appointed Aylesbury boss in 2013, replacing Craig Faulconbridge, and spearhead a strong promotion push in 2014/15 finishing third to Royston and Kettering, Aylesbury's highest ever league position, before losing out in the play-offs to Bedworth. Bates then bought the biggest trophy back to Haywood Way when in 2016 Aylesbury defeated Chesham United 1-0 in the Berks and Bucks Cup Final at Windsor FC before departing the club at the end of that season. He then returned to Berkhamsted, this time gaining promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League in April 2018 before two succesful seasons in the the Southern League, helping them to a 6th place finish in his first season before ending season 19/20 in top place prior to the null and void decision due to Covid. Steve's then teamed up with Lee Bircham and Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South before ending their tenure earlier this month.

Davis HAULE – Assistant Manager Davis is a Haywood Way legend and returns to Steve Bateman's management team as Assistant Manager. He will also be an important player in the middle of the park. Davis made nearly 200 appearances for Aylesbury between 2012 and 2019 and managed the side for a season and a half between 2016 and 2018. He brings with him an immense amount of knowledge of the non league game and will be an invaluable source of experience to the young players but also to the management team.

Last Time OUT Sat 27th November 2021 Oxhey Jets 4 AVDFC 5 Team: James Weatherill; Kuda Sangoya, Will Mullarkey, Jack Hodgins, Terry Griffiths; Dave Brown, Alfi Touceda, Jake Baldwin, Callum Shortt; Aaron Berry, Chris Stapleton Subs: Luke Nugent, Brian Haule, Montel Brown, Paolo Bagatti, Roy Byron After 2 wins on the bounce, Steve Bateman names an unchanged team for the trip to Oxhey Jets. The weather was certainly going to be a factor as Storm Arwen took hold. We had strong winds causing havoc for both keepers, driving sleet…turning into snow and freezing temperatures. The first chance of the match fell to Oxhey, who were attacking into the wind, as a shot went over James Weatherills bar. 7 minutes in and the first real chance, Callum Shortt played in Jake Baldwin, with only the keeper to beat, he stuttered and then the opportunity went as his shot was saved. The ball rebounded out to Aaron Berry who couldn’t get a shot away. Moments later Alfi Touceda collected a reverse pass from Dave Brown but his shot was not strong enough to beat the keeper. Callum Shortt, playing on the right, hit a lovely cross field pass on 17 minutes which was inches away from Chris Stapleton connecting. Dynamos, with the wind, needed to take advantage of the weather conditions. 19 minutes and Dynamos thought they had the breakthrough. Terry Griffiths hit a long ball through to Aaron Berry who flicked it on to Jake Baldwin who calmly slotted it home, only to see the offside flag raised. Unlucky. A couple of minutes later and Aylesbury were in front..and what a goal it was. A cross from Callum Shortt was punched clear by the keeper to the edge of the box where Chris Stapleton attempted and executed a stunning over head kick which beat the keeper into the far corner of the net. WOW ! 0-1 Dynamos. Just before the half hour, Chris Stapleton won the ball and set Jake Baldwin clear on the left wing. He hit a great cross which Aaron Berry got his head on and the ball went just over the bar. Oxhey Jets did get forward in an end to end match and on the half hour mark got their equaliser as a cross was not cleared and their player scored at the near post. 1-1. Three minutes later and The Dynamos restored their lead. Chris Stapleton, again involved in the goal. This time he chested a long ball out from Jack Hodgins and passed the ball to Aaron Berry. He took a touch and rifled in a rocket of a shot which the keeper could not stop. 1-2 Dynamos. The away side were on top and scored again minutes later. Dave Brown won a superb tackle in the middle, robbing the defender and moved forward into the box. Rather than pass, he decided to tip toe round a couple of defenders, leaving them behind him and rounded the keeper to slot the ball into the empty net…another superb goal. Captain Brown made it 3-1 to the Dynamos. Aylesbury were unlucky not to make it 4 before half time as Jake Baldwin curled a corner into the box and Chris Stapleton rose highest to head just over the bar. Within a couple of minutes The Dynamos, now playing against the strong wind, made it 4. Aaron Berry brought down a ball out from Terry Griffiths and passed to Alfi Touceda. He steered the ball through to Callum Shortt who raced clear of the defender and curled round the keeper to score another classy goal. 1-4 Dynamos. Will Mullarkey picked up a knock and was replaced by Luke Nugent moments after the goal. 53 minutes and Oxhey were not beaten…they cut in on the Dynamos right side and hit a great goal into the far corner of James Weatherills goal. 2-4 Dynamos. 56 minutes and the Oxhey keeper mis-kicked a clearance

Last Time OUT which fell straight to Chris Stapleton. He coolly took the ball round the keeper and passed it into the net as Dynamos scored again !!! 2-5 Dynamos. The game was not done as the wind was still a huge factor. 65 minutes and Oxhey raced clear but James Weatherill was equal to it and saved well. Luke Nugent making the final clearance. With 20 minutes to go, Oxhey got another goal. A cross went over the defence but their striker was on hand to smash it home. 3-5 to Dynamos. 73 minutes and Brian Haule came on to replace Aaron Berry up front. Jack Hodgins was a tower in the defence and was on hand to make a tackle and clear another Oxhey ball as Dynamos were hanging on to their 2 goal lead. Just as the 90 minutes were up, Oxhey won a free kick and hit a great ball into the box but Terry Griffiths was there to thump his header clear. Not sure how the referee was adding the time on, but in the 94th minute, Chris Stapleton was adjudged to have fouled an Oxhey player and given a Yellow Card. After a few handbags, the free kick was finally taken, and somehow sneaked over the wall and into the back of the net. 4-5 Dynamos. The final whistle arrived in the 97th minute and Dynamos ran out 5-4 winners in a thrilling encounter.

Development Side Update Sat 27th November 2021 AVDFC Dev 4 Westfield Reserves 1 Dynamos came into a top of the table clash with Westfield on a run of incredible form, having won 6 of their last 7 games, with a hugely unfancied draw with Slough Under 23s in between. With their style and formation proving fruitful, tactically there would be little change but the big difference would be the absence from the dugout of Michael East, a guy whose reputation is growing by the day. However, this gave another opportunity for Assistant Manager Damian Eatwell to step in to the hot seat and Dave Percival to assume the number 2 role. Under 18s guru, Colin Young, joined the bench to add his wise, but not so old head to the pot. With only a few minor changes to the line-up, Roshan Patel got a much-deserved call up to the centre of midfield and the impish style of Princito Nimoh returned to the wing. Dan McAteer replaced our Skipper and clown prince of goalkeepers, George Zammit. Dynamos started brightly and within three minutes, they’d created their first chance. Midfield maestro Tom Shaw got wide and fizzed a ball across the six yard box which just eluded the outstretched leg of Prince Nimoh. Moments later, the ever-dependable Harvey Matthews found Marcus Rivers who played a perfectly weighted ball to Nimoh. He got his shot away but straight at the keepers leg. It wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken. Five minutes in and Dynamos hit a hopeful ball forward. The Westfield Centre half’s first touch wasn’t great, nor was his second. He failed to get the ball under control with his third touch, or his fourth, fifth and sixth. Way too long when Princito is on the hunt. He duly nipped in and dispatched it past the keeper. 1-0 and exactly what Dynamos needed to settle the nerves. The goal seemed to spark Westfield into life. Their position in the league is no fluke and we knew they were capable of playing, and despite the pitch beginning to cut up, that’s what they did. However, with the impressive duo of Gabby Adewolo and stand in captain Jack Aldridge being well screened by the energetic Matt Chew and Rosh Patel. Chances were few and far between. Twenty seven minutes in and Dynamos had the ball in the net again. Prince cut the ball back to Dynamos hot shot Marcus Rivers who slotted into an empty net, only to see the offside flag up. By this time, the Westfield bench were becoming agitated, both booked in the away fixture earlier in the season, their frustration at Macca’s ‘game management’ caused a heated exchange with Dave ‘Percy’ Percival, whose winner’s mentality was never going to allow him to remain tight lipped. Half time loomed and Tom Shaw found Prince with an outrageously disguised pass. Prince’s first touch was good and he unleashed his shot to the top right. A quite superb save from the keeper managed to tip it on to the bar. However, right on the stroke of half time, Dynamos found their second. The continuous supply to the irrepressible Joe Chott opened the Westfield defence again. His cross to the back post found Nimoh who squared to Tom Shaw. Shaw made no mistake. 2-0 Dynamos and in the words of stand in manager, Damian Eatwell, a goal of pure footballing porn. The half time team talk had just become a little easier, but Dynamos were never going to let their standards slip, tighter marking and engagement higher up the field required. Easier said than done on a pitch that was tearing up, wind getting stronger and conditions more akin to the arctic than the sleepy market town of Aylesbury. A rapid start to the second half and another pinpoint pass from Tom Shaw found Prince again. Prince smashed it home to give Dynamos a three goal lead.

Development Side Update On 51 minutes, came the games only controversial moment. After a bit of pressure from the much improved Westfield forward line, the ball appeared to have been cleared. However, a long blast on the referee’s whistle and he was pointing in the general direction of the goal. What was it? A free kick? offside? None of those, it was a penalty to Westfield. Quite what he’d seen bemused most of spectators and those in the technical area. Anyway, up steps the Westfield 9, who had been sent down from the first team. His tame penalty was never going to be good enough to beat a keeper of Macca’s quality, who plunged to his right and grabbed the ball at the second attempt. Nearly an hour in and Matt Chew’s race is run. He pulls up lame with what appears to be a nasty hamstring injury. On came the combative figure of Gael Muyonge. By now, Westfield were beginning to look threatening in wide areas. Despite Alex Mitchell turning up to the game under the weather, another solid display from him limited any real clear-cut chances. Watch out for this lad, he has the potential to go far. That said, Harvey Matthews was doing an equally effective job on the other side. Sixty five minutes in and Macca is called in to action again. This time thwarting the Westfield front line with a fine one v one save. Time to freshen it up. Off came Marcus Rivers and Roshan Patel and on came Connor Wagner and Matt Tagliarini (Waggy & Taggy) A momentary lapse in concentration from the Dynamos saw Westfield cut the deficit. A strong but questionable tackle in the midfield and Westfield went through. The Westfield 9 eventually smashing in from 2 yards out. The pitch was really suffering now which made things hard for the players, who were starting to tire. But game over in the 84th minute as Connor Wagner, who was unlucky to not be in the starting XI, found Joe Chott. His shot was hit sweetly and dipped past the Westfield keeper. Another player to watch, tough to contain and making a habit of scoring. Opposition keepers need to watch out for the ‘Chott Shot’ its trickier than you think! Time to shut up shop. Jack Elsey (He’s one of our own) was introduced at the expense of Prince Nimoh as Dynamos went to a back 5. Relief for the Dynamos and now Westfield had resigned themselves to defeat. The game petered out and all three points in the bag, which leaves AVDD top of the league by two points, with a game in hand. A fantastic workmanlike performance in really tricky conditions. Already this team has surpassed all expectations and is it too early to think about winning the league? On this showing it’s becoming a distinct possibility.

Holmer Green HISTORY Originally founded in 1908, Holmer played initially in The Chesham and District League. Matches were played at Campbell’s Meadow, (now the Rosetti Estate), close to a tennis racket factory. Sometime before 1934 the Club moved to Holmer Green Common and set up headquarters in The Bat and Ball. In 1934 the Club switched to The Wycombe Combination League. The first trophy won by Holmer Green was The Chesham Charity Cup in 1939, the first of 28 Cups and Championships won thus far by the 1st XI. The early 70’s saw the start of a very successful thirty years in the Club’s history. Holmer Green moved to their present ground, Watchet Lane, in 1975 when the new Holmer Green Sports Association pavilion was fully ready. Holmer won The Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup in 1976-77. Senior Status was thus achieved and since then the Club has striven to play at the highest level possible for a strictly amateur club. The Club, through current President John Anderson, was heavily involved in the moves that set up The Chiltonian League in 1984. That League embraced clubs from no less than six different counties. Holmer had been very successful in the Chiltonian, and believed that a move to a better run league, where the clubs were encouraged to improve facilities, should be the next step. The Chiltonian were reluctant to lose their “flagship” club and tried to stop the move to the The South Midlands League. Not until August 1995 did Holmer Green, through the FA’s appeal system, successfully, switch Leagues. This move gave Holmer Green the impetus to finally erect a Stand, now called The Don Want Stand in honour of their former long-serving groundsman who still helps out with his time and expertise, on a regular basis. In 2014 Don was presented with some mementos to mark his 50 years with the Football Club. Premier Division status was achieved in 1999 after winning the Senior Division twice in four seasons, being 2nd and 4th in between. Floodlights were erected. Centenary events started with a visit from a full Wycombe Wanderers team in July 2007 when the ground record of over 800 was recorded. In 2008 the Senior Club formally merged with Holmer Green Minors FC to become “One Club” and this occasion coincided with the new Club as a whole being named “ Club of the Year 2008” by Bucks & Milton Keynes Sports Partnership. Season 2008-09 was Holmer’s 10th successive one in the Premier Division. After an unexpect- edly long stay in the Premier Division, Holmer Green was demoted to Division One for season 2009-10, despite avoiding the two relegation positions. Work immediately began to regain the “F” Grading required for Step 5 football to return to Watchet Lane. The 1st XI won the First Division by three points in 2009-10 losing only 3 of 40 games. The coveted “F” Grading was achieved again in 2011.

Holmer Green HISTORY Manager Chris Allen, who was appointed in 2009, kept the regained Step 5 status for another incredible nine seasons before stepping down in May 2019, with Holmer having gained enough points by early March. By this time the Club had been moved, most unwillingly, into the geographically ridiculous Hellenic League. Chris’ successor, Dave Lynch, resigned after a poor start in August and September 2019. Matt Stowell succeeded Lynch, and results turned before the season was ended due to Covid-19. Matt continued to rebuild for 202021 with a seventh place when the season was again terminated early. The club were very happily returned to The Spartan South Midlands League in Summer 2021, with Matt continuing in charge. This return “home” means local games with Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, Tring Athletic, Harefield United, Leighton Town, Leverstock Green, Oxhey Jets, and Dunstable Town.
