Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League the club will start the 2019 season in the South Midlands League after what has been a difficult and turbulent period. Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times.

In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Last Time Out Oxhey Jets 4 AVDFC 2 – 8th 2020

As Storm Ciara got closer, the Dynamos made the short trip to Oxhey on the back of a 1-1 draw with Broadfields. Phil Granville made 4 changes to the starting line-up as he searches for his best starting 11. Ben Stevens was unavailable, so Ben Gill started in the heart of defence. Dan Wilson, Jake Baldwin and Abu Khan were all on the bench meaning that there were starts for Derek Feyi, Roy Byron and Lewis Merriden. In the second minute Alfie Gaspar was penalised for a high foot and given a Yellow Card for the challenge. Oxhey Jets were the first to register a shot but it went harmlessly wide of the near post. A few minutes later James Weatherill came out of his goal but was beaten to the ball but with the open goal there, Ben Gill managed to deflect the shot for a corner. Oxhey were on top in the early stages and more defending, this time from Ollie Leach, thwarted another attack. It was 16 minutes in before Dynamos had a chance, a corner from Bruno Brito was partially cleared to Harry Scott and he swung in cross which Derek Feyi controlled but was called offside. Lewis Merriden was fouled on 18 minutes and Bruno Brito hit a 30 yard rocket but straight into the wall. Dynamos were struggling to get going. A few minutes later Ollie Leach was the creator as he played a lovely ball over the top for Joseph Fitzgerald to run onto but he had strayed offside. The breakthrough came against the run of play. Bruno Brito swung in the ball to the near post and the fearless Derek Feyi was there to head home. 1-0 Dynamos. Oxhey Jets were back in possession and a solid stop from James Weatherill kept the score at 1-0. With 10 minutes left Dan McAteer’s pass back wasn’t strong enough and the Oxhey striker nipped in and won the ball, again with an open goal he hit his shot but Ollie Leach was back in time to block the shot and clear his lines. Then Oxhey had 4 minutes of pressure and scored 2 goals. Firstly a good move saw a rocket of a shot beat James Weatherill from 10 yards out. 4 minutes later Dynamos failed to clear the ball and a cross saw a player unmarked to beat James from a couple of yards. 2-1 Oxhey. Just as the first half was coming to a close, Roy Byron, who was having a great game, played in Alfie Gaspar and he was taken down for a blatant penalty. Harry Scott stepped up and wrong-footed the keeper to make it 2-2 at halftime. As in previous matches, Dynamos came out stronger in the second half. Less than a minute and Harry Scott played the ball to Bruno Brito but his shot was saved. Ollie Leach then found some room and moved forward, he played the ball over the top to Bruno Brito again, he appeared to be bundled over, but no penalty awarded this time. Bruno then had a one on one with the keeper but again it was well saved. 58 minutes and some good work from Harry Scott on the right wing enabled him to cross and Roy Byron had sneaked in unmarked but his header was saved. So close to his first goal of the season. The resulting corner was taken quick to Harry Scott and his cross was headed just over by Derek Feyi. It was all Dynamos as they searched for a goal. There was an air of inevitability when Oxhey next attacked. Ben Gill made the challenge and the Oxhey players all appealed…and got a penalty. They converted the spot kick and make the task even harder, Ben Gill was sin binned for his protests. With less than 20 minutes remaining, Harry Scott squeezed the ball through to Alfie Gaspar, but his shot was saved. This was the last involvement for both players as they made way for Abu Khan and Jake Baldwin to come in. With Dynamos now deploying 3 up front to get the goal, Oxhey were getting more possession, but Dynamos looked good on the counter. ValeDynamos @avdfcsocial www.aylesburyvaledynamos.co.uk 85 minutes and Derek Feyi facebook.com/AVDFCOfficial/ slices his clearance and it whistles inches past his own goal.89 minutes and Roy Byron

Last Time Out Oxhey Jets 4 AVDFC 2 – 8th 2020

With Dynamos now deploying 3 up front to get the goal, Oxhey were getting more possession, but Dynamos looked good on the counter. 85 minutes and Derek Feyi slices his clearance and it whistles inches past his own goal.89 minutes and Roy Byron battled well to win the ball and play it out to Bruno Brito, he beat his man and sent in a cross which found Abu Khan unmarked in front of goal. His header was just too close to the keeper who saved it. Dynamos deserved an equaliser‌! Less than a minute later and Jake Baldwin found space on the left and swung in a cross which looped over everyone and the keeper just got his hand to it to stop it going straight in. The killer blow came in the 4th minute of added time as Oxhey went down the other end and scored to make the final scoreline Oxhey Jets 4-2 AVDFC.

London Colney History London Colney Football Club was formed in 1907, playing at Whitehorse Lane until moving to its present ground at Cotlandswick, London Colney in 1976. The Club played in the Mid Herts League until the mid fifties, when it joined the Herts County League. The Club has enjoyed many successes over the years with the 1st team winning the Premier Division League 3 times between 1986 and 1990,and the reserves winning the Reserve Division 4 times between 1987 and 1992. In 1992 the Club moved to the South Midlands League where in the first season the 1st Team became runners up in the Senior Division and the Reserves won the Division 1 Reserves section.Further successes came between 1993 and 1998 with the 1st Team winning The O,Brian Butcher Challenge Cup, The Herts Charity Shield, The Herts Centenary Trophy, The Premier Division Cup and gaining promotion to the Premier Division. The Reserves also did well during this time and in 1998 won The Reserves Challenge Trophy. In the 1998/99 season the South Midlands League amalgamated with the Spartan League to form the Minerva Spartan South Midlands League and London Colney finished 3rd in the Premier Division. The ‘Blue Boys’ had the title within their grasp after a brilliant 11 match winning streak between October and December and they remained in the top two throughout the final weeks of the season only to be pipped at the post on the final day of the season by Barkingside and Potters Bar Town. This disappointment was eased a few days later when they beat Hoddesdon Town 1-0 to win the Herts Charity Shield. The Reserves had a brilliant season winning the Reserve League and the reserve cup comfortably. This was also the year that The Spartan South Midlands League Management committee made first Team Manager Mick Wright Manager of the Year for the 1998/99 season. The 1999/2000 season saw Malcolm Doctor join Mick Wright as a joint manager of the 1st Team. They were finalists in the both the Challenge Trophy and the Premier Division Cup only being beaten in penalty shoot outs in both matches. This year London Colney was once again a competitor in the FA Vase and reached the last sixteen losing 4-3 to Eccles Hill United who travelled from Yorkshire for the match. The 2000/2001 season saw the 1st Team finishing runners up in the League. The reserves finished a creditable 6th in the reserve division. In the 2001/2002 season London Colney saw its greatest successes yet with the 1st Team winning the League with a ten point difference – the highest in the league’s history. We lost only two games; scored a massive 119 goals; had a goal difference of 87 after going unbeaten for the first 27 league games. We went top after just three games and maintained domination apart from a few days in December, won 28 of our 38 games and provided the league’s leading scorer through Gary Sippetts who bagged an incredible 45 strikes. London Colney were also runners up in the Herts Senior Trophy, the only team in the league to ever reach that position, only narrowly losing to Borehamwood 3-2 in a very hard fought match. We also won the Challenge Trophy and were semi-finalists in the Premier Division Cup. These achievements were rewarded with our Managers, Malcolm Doctor and Mick Wright being awarded with the Managers of the Year Trophy. The 2002/03 season – what a difference a year makes – whilst not expecting the same successes as the previous season the loss of many of our players to other clubs meant a disastrous start to the season. We then lost Malcolm Doctor who resigned early in the season. However thanks to John Templeton stepping into the breach to join Mick we managed to finish the season a creditable 6th in the league. Our reserves were an academy side and whilst there footballing skills were undisputed and they won the league and were finalists in the reserve cup, they contributed little to the well-being and spirit of London Colney Football Club.

London Colney History 2003/04 season saw several of our players returning to the club and with an optimistic outlook and a great deal of enthusiasm. The first team management remained the same with Mick Wright and John Templeton at the helm. The reserves have reverted to a normal club side with Ray Flanagan and Alan Connell in charge. The first team finished 6th in the league and were finalists in the Challenge Trophy losing to Brook House on penalties after extra time. The reserves finished in the bottom half of the reserve division, which was commendable as it was the first season with Ray and Alan in charge. 2004/05 saw Mick Wright stepping down as Manager leaving John Templeton in sole charge. After a very good start, when we won 7 league games in a row, we seemed to loose our way and finished a disappointing 11th in the league. However we faired better in the Challenge Trophy and were finalists but were well beaten by Hillingdon Borough 4-1 on the night. The Reserves finished in the lower half of the table in the Reserve Division 2005/06 season saw a new Management Team of Nigel Tester, Kevin Bland and Vince Buck without much success with the 1st Team finishing 14th in the league but having a good FA Vase Cup run. The reserves finished third under the management of Mark Tyrell and Gary Barber. 2006/2007 We started the season with a new management team but it was decided that for the long term good of the club we would have to part company with the new manager before the end of the season. The 1st team finished mid table and had an early exit in all major cup competitions. In contrast the Reserves, under the guidance of Manager Mark Tyrrell, had a brilliant season by winning the league on the last game of the season and also winning the Reserve Challenge Cup beating WGC Reserves from a division above. They were also the losing finalists in the Herts Intermediate Cup.2007/2008 London Colney FC Centenary Year. Saw the club relegated from the Premier League for the first time we now start the next century of the club trying to get back to Premier SSMFL Premier status. 2008/2009 saw additional committee members joining a new management team of Julian Robinson as Manager with Frank Patrick as his assistant with most of the young squad retained with a couple of new faces to begin the season in Division One and begin a period of stability with steady consolidation of a club that had shared it’s near past of turmoil with near extinction a possibility.

2009/10 After what seemed an endless season due to fixture congestion and the weather being so inclement the club had a tremendous campaign, albeit after the disappointment of losing out by 1 point for one of the promotion places leaving everyone at the club deflated for a while until we reflected on two cup final victories and one losing 9-10 on pens in the other. The first team with a third place finish in the MSSML Div One good cup runs in the FA and Vase competitions, the reserves having a tremendous season finishing second in Div Two, The A team won the Bingham Cup and finished runners up in the other cup final and finally the U18’s winning the league and cup double. 2010/11 A management team of Dave Townsend and Frank Patrick were quickly invited into the hot seat following the departure of Julian Robinson to Tring Athletic to try and stabilise the club once more and push for honours, following early disappointing results the team were unable to reach the promotion spots to remain in the division although a Hertfordshire Charity Shield Final saw the Blueboys lose against Premier side Leverstock Green

London Colney History 2011/12 Following the disappointment of staying in Division One a new management team of Ryan Thompson, Chris Day and Tony Kavanagh were brought in to bring fresh impetus into the club after Dave Townsend stepped down to become Reserve team manager due to his heavy work commitments together with his impending marriage. The season went from strength to strength with promotion to the premier division gained by a record 15 points with top scorer Matty Newman hitting the 50 goal mark over all competitions, with the young reserve side finishing a creditable mid table. Season 2012/13 Saw the side finish 7th in the Spartan Midlands League Premier Division consolidating the improvement under Ryan Thompsons guidance this after a season of unpresidented injuries leaving the squad sadly depleated of up to 10 first team players for most of the season. Season 2013/14 Saw the side again finish 7th in the Spartan Midlands League Premier Division in what would be Ryan Thompsons last season as manager. After a slow start, the team had a good middle and end to the campaign climbing up the table in the process. Matt Newman also departed scoring 32 goals in his final season with the Blueboys, backed up well by Martin Collins with 17 goals. Season 2014/15 had seen the start of a new era with Jim Nicholls and his coaching staff at the helm. However due to work commitments, Jim became Chairman and Ryan Thompson came back as first team manager. The club went on a remarkable unbeaten streak during the second half of the season, narrowly missing out on the title by finishing second to Kings Langley. Season 2016/17 saw the club bring in Joe Sweeney and his team from Chesham. An excellent start to the season meant that the Blueboys went straight to the top of the table, and remained there until the end of the season becoming the Spartan Premier Division champions. The Reserve team also won the Suburban league table to make it a double to remember. The powers that be decided to refuse promotion to the Ryman's League Division 1 which meant 2nd place Hertford Town gained promotion instead. Manager Joe Sweeney and almost all the promotion winning squad left the club after this decision for pastures new.

The board also decided they no longer wanted to carry on running the club so unless a new board could be found quickly the club would fold with immediate effect. Season 2017/18 saw a new consortium headed up by Chairman Gareth Davies along with former Peterborough, Watford and Birmingham centre forward Ken Charlery agreeing to become the new custodians of the club which was perilously close to folding. The season started brightly with the Blueboys top of the league after the first 6 games which was a remarkable achievement considering the club had no players with less than 4 weeks to go until the season started. With a very young inexperienced squad (no less than nine under 19s) the early pace could not be maintained and the club finished the season in 13th place while also reaching the semi-final of the League cup before going out to Rissborough Rangers.
