Good afternoon and a warm welcome goes to Dan and Craig, committee, players and all the travelling fans from North Leigh. We hope your short stay at the SRD Stadium will be a pleasant one. North Leigh are coming to us with a bit of orm on their side, a fantastic 4-0 away win to Coleshill and a decent 3-3 with WGC, they are Currently sitting bottom of the table but are a very capable side and I expect them to get out of the bottom two. Craig and Dan have made some great signings and have some excellent players within his squad. The front two are scoring for fun at the moment, and having had them watched lately, we know Hunte and Seacole are experienced talisman who can cause a serious problem. Young Henry Landers is a fantastic player and has a big future ahead of him, he is a player that we will need to pay special attention to. Results tell the tale of the season but I’m still shocked to see this team of this quality sitting where they are in the table. We come into the fixture on the back of two very disappointing results, especially last week’s fixture against Thame. Although they are a very good side and well disciplined in their play our performance was not acceptable and considering our position and what we area fighting for, we need to see a massive reaction and I want to see players fighting for their lives, it’s what the fans expect and us as a management team. Despite the decision of the club with regards to next season, our goal was always to finish out of the bottom two and that is still our target. Its very much in our hands and with the talent in our dressing room, its achievable. We’ve had a great weeks training and the belief is still there, we just need to make sure we as a management team prepare the squad for this must win game. Thank you all again for support and I hope you have a fantastic afternoon … Come on you Moles !!!

Paul

The club has enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, some 200 players being registered, this also including Stocklake Ladies. In 2000 four youth teams won league and cup honours, whilst the senior team went on to win the Aylesbury District Cup, the Field Shield and ADL Premier Division runners up. At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Another award was gained for the match day programme in recognition of how much the club was developing.

Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town.

After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone. Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. 2017/18 was a difficult season for club finishing 21st and avoiding relegation due to the League re organisation. This season sees a new era with ex Leighton manager Scott Reynolds taking over the reigns assisted by Matt Moran, Lea Coulter and the returning Paul Bonham. Aylesbury Football Club prides itself on clear ambitions: to progress to higher league football and to achieve higher league status with squads from local talent. The club hopes to continue to work with other local community groups and enhance the clubs facilities to benefit the people within Aylesbury.

Thane United 4 Aylesbury FC 1 – Sat 5th April 2019 - League Manager Paul Bonham had to make a couple of enforced changes with Haydon Clack injured and Sam Odusoga only fit enough for the bench, so started with a back three of Jordan Jenkins, Craig Carby and Derek Feyi. Harry Scott returned for his first start since re joining from Berkhamsted with Bruno Brito dropping to the bench. The unfamiliar back three along with the strong first half wind saw FC with their backs to the wall and the pace of Lynton Goss and balls wide over the top were causing Derek Feyi all sorts of issues on the left hand side of the defence. The first goal came in the 10th minute when a mistake at the back meant a cross to West in the box was neatly controlled before going round Nick Bennion for an easy tap in to make it 1-0 to the home side Aylesbury’s first chance came when a cross from the left found Brian Haule in the box who managed to get in front of the defender but could not head the ball into the net, this was a real missed opportunity for Aylesbury. On 19 minutes Harry Scott Scott got the ball on the left cut inside and put in a ball acros the face of the goal but there was no one to meet it. Scott then played in Ty Deacon but he just couldn't keep the ball down as the keeper came to meet him and the ball sailed over the bar. Aylesbury at this point were well in the game playing some nice football but lacking the killer instinct in front of goal, Thame ended the half with their second goal from ex Mole Lynton Goss who tapped the ball in from close range. HT Thame United 2 Aylesbury FC 0 The game was ended after just three minutes after the restart, Goss cross was well met by Dan West who headed the ball past Bennion. In the 64th minute Thame had a free kick given when there was a crunching late tackle on Goss. Goss himself was able to get up and take the free kick himself and hit the ball towards West who flicked the ball into the net giving him his hat trick. Aylesbury made three changes in the second half in search of goals and did begin to play at a faster tempo late on. Aylesbury did get a consolation goal in the 85th minute when a free kick was struck by left footed substitute Brunio Brito which smashed the post and went in leaving Hill unable to move to make it 4-1.

North Leigh were formed in 1908, but it was only following the Second World War that the club started to make its mark in Witney and District League. The club won the Witney and District League Premier Division title seven times in the 1950’s and also enjoyed success in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup. In the 1980s the club resumed its trophy winning habits with five successive Witney and District League titles earning it a place in the Hellenic League Division 1 for the season 1990/91. The club enjoyed a good first season in the Hellenic League, finishing in 4th position and being the Division’s highest goal scorers apart from Champions Cinderford Town. In the club’s second season it again achieved 4th position averaging two points per game, scoring 84 goals in the process. In the third season, the club finished runners up to Tuffley Rovers in Division 1 and so took its place in the Hellenic League Premier Division along with the champions. In 1997/98 the club reached the second round of the FA Vase for the third time before losing to Elmore. They finished the season in 4th place in the Hellenic League Premier Division, and capped their season off by reaching the final in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup where they were only narrowly beaten by their Oxfordshire rivals Witney Town 1-0 after extra time. The season 2001/02 was without doubt been the most successful in the club’s history to date. After a superb season of consistently high performances and an epic struggle with both Gloucester United and Yate Town throughout the season to occupy top spot, the club eventually succeeded in winning for the very first time, the Premier Division title. The club also reached the final of both the Oxfordshire Senior Cup and the Hellenic League Challenge Cup. In season 2002/03 the club went one better and with smaller squad than the previous year and arguably stronger league opposition, retained the title with a winning margin of 10points over Yate Town (the team pipped the previous year) and local rivals Carterton. Unfortunately the ground at this stage was not up to required standard for the team to take promotion to the next level. In season 2003/04 a disappointing eighth place in the league was offset by a tremendous run in the FA Vase where club reached the last 32 and with reasonable luck would have progressed further. In 2004/05 the club finished in seventh place in the league but the highlight was the truly memorable run in the FA Cup as the last Hellenic team left in the competition defeating Deal Town, Walton Casuals and Edgware Town and only losing out to Conference South outfit Newport County in Wales after holding them to a draw at Eynsham Park. In season 2005/06 after an excellent start and leading the table during the early part of the season the club narrowly missed out on promotion to the Southern League finishing in fourth place after a disappointing late run. In season 2006/07 after a head to head contest with Slimbridge and narrowly finishing behind them after an epic struggle and a particularly strong finish to the season including a double win home & away against them, the club were severely disappointed to learn of their withdrawal from promotion to the Southern League at a stage too late for them to be replaced them even though North Leigh’s home ground had by now received the necessary FA approval to play at the higher level. In season 2007/08 in the club’s centenary year it looked to be a minor image of the previous year with the team vying for the top spot throughout the season and just losing out in the final push for promotion. However in a truly magnificent finish to the season the team overhauled the long term leaders of the division, Almondsbury Town in their very last league game, winning the league title and promotion on goal differences. In addition and a few weeks later prior to winning the league title, the club won the Oxfordshire Senior Cup for the first time in history defeating on Oxford United team in the quarter final and Banbury United (southern League Premier Division) in the final at Kassam Stadium, Oxford. So the club climbed to its highest ever position in the non-league pyramid by joining the Southern League South and West in August 2008 and during its membership over the past nine years has been a model of consistency finishing in a top ten position in every season. Major changes occurred in 2016 with the departure of long serving Manager Mark Gee and the appointment of John Brough

who had just won the league with Cinderford Town. John had a successful first season steering the club to its best ever FA Cup and Trophy run, a third County Cup triumph and just5 missed out on a play off place in the league and so we look forward to the future with a play-off place and promotion as our key objective. Management Joint Manager: Darren James - Played for Oxford Utd and Oxford City, however Injuries cut his career short. Darren has been coaching at Oxford City for the past 3 seasons with the 18s Joint Manager: Craig Dore – Also played for Oxford Utd and Oxford City along with spells at Cardiff and Worcester City. Coached alongside Darren with Oxford City for the past 3 seasons before joining the Millers 1 st Team Coach: Gary Brown – Played at Cirencester Town and Carterton Town and became manager of the latter before joining up with the Millers halfway through the season Physio: John McDonough (Macca) - Been with the club for that many years that nobody actually knows, also the kit man. Macca still keeps himself in shape playing for the North Leigh vets. Key man to have around and sometimes over-worked with our lot!

Edward Cavanagh – Previously at Abingdon Utd, Reading City & Oxford United – Signing to North Leigh in October 2018. Eddies positioning is his key attribute, right place at the right time Ben Brown (C) - Re-joining the club after leaving in the 2013/14 season, Ben will be coming back with a lot more responsibility as the first team captain. Solid at the back and calm under pressure, his experience will prove invaluable for the young team when times get tough. Declan Peart - Played last season with Oxford City Nomads in the Hellenic Premier. Very composed on the ball always looks like he’s in space and is very quick for a big lad. Great passer of the ball and makes the game look easy Andy Gunn – Experienced, having played for Oxford United, Banbury Town and now having his 2nd stint at North Leigh Andy possesses a calmness on the ball, is great in the air and is strong in communication. A defender personified. Alfie Grant – The Centre Back signed from Reading City having previously played for Thatcham Town and Oxford Utd – New Signing to North Leigh in November 2018. A good reader of the game and calm distributor Jordy Ngath – Right sided speedy wing back signed from Banbury United after impressing against North Leigh earlier in the season. Previously from Oxford City. Ben Barrett – Made his Millers debut in March 2019 despite signing at the start of the season, Ben brings appetite and energy to the midfield with the added eye for goal. Previously at Oxford City. Alfie Saunders - Still young but one of the more experienced in the squad, Alfie has played at this level for a few seasons now. Great with both feet and has a thunderous strike on him, spent last season played for North Leigh Utd. Versatility key attribute Dan James – Dan returns for his second stint at North Leigh following his transfer in from local rivals Thame United in Jan 2019. A great work ethic and energetic tidy midfielder, Dan will leave nothing on the pitch Kyreece Martei – Signed in January 2019 on loan from Oxford City the right sided attacking Midfielder has had stints at Aylesbury in the 2018/19 season Noah Alabi - Joining the new Managers coming over from Oxford City Youth, Noah was part of a league and cup winning season last year and has already impressed a lot of people this season. A very sought-after player, this skilful youngster will cause havoc on the wings for anyone that underestimates him. Harry Grant – Previous stints at Sheff Weds and Gillingham signed from Reading City – Harry played in the FA Vase final at Wembley last year. An overall non-stop box to box midfielder Rory Linford-Pill - Rory played alongside Jacob (Hughes) throughout his youth years with Mid-Oxon and the county. Last season for the Hollybush who dominated the local league. Strong in the tackle, good in the air and again loves to pass the ball. Holding Midfielder Bradley Singh – Signed from local Division One Central rivals Kidlington in Jan 2019 having also played for Hemel Hempsted. Bradley brings increased competition to the attacking elements Roger James - Originally brought up through the youth ranks, North Leigh fans will know of Roger well. The dangerous winger can turn on a sixpence and his pace and sheer determination makes him almost unbeatable 1-on-1 and one hell of a crosser of the ball. George Seacole - Adored fan favourite, George has 52 goals in the previous two years at North Leigh. If he can avoid another injury hit campaign then he will surely be a force to be reckoned with and a key component if we are to succeed in competing in the top half of the table. Henry Landers (VC) - Another of the Oxford City Youth double from last year. He scored over 65 goals in just 50 games for that team. His eye for goal and neat technique set the standard. Named team captain in Feb 2019 with club captain Ben Brown long term injured Josh Pin - Beginning his football career in the Australian youth leagues, Josh moved over to England and continued to play at Oxford City Nomads. A versatile attribute to the team Tyriq Hunte – A new signing in March 2019 Tyriq brings experience from stints at both Aylesbury clubs, Kettering and most recently Hendon FC netting 2 goals on debut for the Millers
