The Greenfleets Stadium Haywood Way Aylesbury Bucks HP19 9WZ

Welcome to Haywood Way for this special game with our neighbours Risborough Rangers The Dynamos have had a tough few weeks on the pitch whilst our visitors today have been flying high. That said it’s always an enjoyable fixture With a good atmosphere on and off the pitch. This fixture is a special one for the club as we have been saddened by what is going on in Ukraine at this present time. Football is an outlet for many of us after a week at work, we get to enjoy the highs and the lows of our local teams pitting their wits against each other on the pitch. Situations such as what is happening in Ukraine make us realise how lucky we are to have The freedom and way of life we do to enjoy weekends of football. We realised that we had to help in anyway we could, and with the help of the Bucks Free Press, we will be collecting items of clothing for the Ukrainian people, as well as items of sports clothing to send to Africa.

Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football. Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league. the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League. Phil Granville and Ben Gill were appointed midway through last season and will kick off the 2020/21 season again in the Spartan Premier Division. Steve Bateman was re appointed as manager in September 2021 Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times. In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Meet The MANAGEMENT Steve BATEMAN – Manager Bateman has enjoyed an illustrious non-league career, starting his playing days with Hemel Hempstead before joining Everton, where he went on to win the FA Youth Cup before later playing more than 300 games for both Chesham United and Slough Town. His managerial career started at Chesham but he also managed Berkhamsted Town, guiding them to a memorable FA Vase final at Villa Park, and local rivals Hemel Hempstead who he led to promotion to the Southern Premier League. Bateman was appointed Aylesbury boss in 2013, replacing Craig Faulconbridge, and spearhead a strong promotion push in 2014/15 finishing third to Royston and Kettering, Aylesbury's highest ever league position, before losing out in the play-offs to Bedworth. Bates then bought the biggest trophy back to Haywood Way when in 2016 Aylesbury defeated Chesham United 1-0 in the Berks and Bucks Cup Final at Windsor FC before departing the club at the end of that season. He then returned to Berkhamsted, this time gaining promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League in April 2018 before two succesful seasons in the the Southern League, helping them to a 6th place finish in his first season before ending season 19/20 in top place prior to the null and void decision due to Covid. Steve's then teamed up with Lee Bircham and Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South before ending their tenure earlier this month.

Davis HAULE – Assistant Manager Davis is a Haywood Way legend and returns to Steve Bateman's management team as Assistant Manager. He will also be an important player in the middle of the park. Davis made nearly 200 appearances for Aylesbury between 2012 and 2019 and managed the side for a season and a half between 2016 and 2018. He brings with him an immense amount of knowledge of the non league game and will be an invaluable source of experience to the young players but also to the management team.

Last Time OUT Sat 12nd March 2022 Flackwell Heath 4 AVDFC 0 Team: James Weatherill; Jack Aldridge, Alex Mitchell, Paolo Bagatti, Terry Griffiths; Dave Brown, Jamie Fulton, Callum Shortt, Davide Pobbe; Chris Stapleton, Ollie Lawford Subs: Will Mullarkey, Davis Haule, Ivan Otono, Joe Chott, Roy Byron The Dynamos were back in League action at the weekend against Flackwell Heath, with our last League victory coming back in January. Dynamos had an early chance as Ollie Lawford found Chris Stapleton, but he didn’t connect with his shot. At the other end, a foul by Jamie Fulton allowed Flackwell a free kick from 30 yards which James Weatherill saved with ease. Aylesbury then won a free kick as Davide Pobbe was fouled. Callum Shortt swung the ball in and Ollie Lawford hit his shot wide of the mark. Quarter of an hour in and Terry Griffiths was in the book for a foul on the Flackwell attacker. The free kick was cleared by Paolo Bagatti as Flackwell started to dominate possession. 23 minutes and Dynamos created a half chance. Jamie Fulton played a ball down the right where Jack Aldridge was attacking, his cross found Chris Stapleton through on goal, but he had strayed offside. A couple of minutes later and the hosts took the lead. A good cross from their right and a header was firmly planted past James Weatherill. 1-0 Flackwell. A few minutes later Flackwell were attacking again, but Paolo Bagatti made a tackle which was late and the referee brandished a yellow card. The free kick was swung in and Flackwell almost made it 2 with another header, this time over the bar. However, on 33 minutes they did make it 2 as their midfielder collected the ball, rode a challenge and hit a superb shot into the top corner. 2-0 Flackwell. Before halftime The Dynamos had a couple of chances to half the deficit. Callum Shortt was fouled and Jamie Fulton hit a free kick onto the head of Dave Brown and the ball rattle the crossbar and away from danger. Moments later, Flackwell played out from the back, lost possession, and Dave Brown reacted quickest, but his shot was blocked for a corner. Callum Shortt whipped the corner into the box and Terry Griffiths rose the highest but headed over the bar. Paolo Bagatti was replaced at half time by Will Mullarkey, pushing Jack Aldridge into centre back. On 50 minutes Flackwell raced clear of the Dynamos defence but sidefooted the ball wide of the goal. Five minutes later and they did get the third goal to kill the match off. Some good work in the middle saw their player with acres of space, he hit a rocket of a shot past James Weatherill to make it 3-0 Flackwell and effectively game over. On the hour mark Dynamos had a half chance as Alex Mitchell played a long ball into the feet of Callum Shortt but his shot was straight at the keeper and saved. Things then got even worse for Dynamos as Davide Pobbe came sliding into a challenge from behind which the referee had no hesitation in sending him straight off. Down to 10 men and 3-0 down…! Callum Shortt then made a cynical challenge on the right wing, earning himself a Yellow Card as well.

Last Time OUT He was then replaced by Davis Haule for the remainder of the match. 82 minutes and Flackwell made it four. A lot of pressure from Flackwell finally paid off as they calmly beat the defence and keeper to make it 4-0 Flackwell. 5 minutes left and it really should have been 5 goals. James Weatherill mis-kicked a clearance which fell to the feet of a Flackwell player, he lobbed the ball over James Weatherill, but he managed to scamper back and grab the ball just before it went over the line….lucky escape. In the final few minutes Dynamos picked up another Yellow Card, this time for Will Mullarkey for another challenge. Full Time Flackwell Heath 4 AVDFC 0 • •

Development Team Update Sat 19th March 2022 Beaconsfield U23s 1 AVDFC Development 2 We travelled to Holloways park to face a very young vibrant Beaconsfield side that fielded the majority of their U18 including a Young Jack McKenzie who had a little stint with us at Preseason. The game started off at a fairly quick pace with the devs getting two early opportunities, first off was a great ball across the box from Marcus Rivers which was met by Prince Nimoh but sadly sailed over the bar, within minutes of the first chance Tom shaw took a clever freekick down the line which had been created by the smart movement of Rivers and although the delivery was dangerous the young Rams dealt with it comfortably. The pace of the game continued to be frantic with chances coming at either end, first off George Zammit pulled off a fantastic save to his left handside just before the Rams keeper followed suit saving well from a Marcus River drive. As the half progressed The Young Rams started to dominate the possession of the ball with some really neat play, young Jack Mckenzie of the Rams was really causing problems down our left handside, this was becoming the battle of the game as Alex Mitchell who was sticking to task and doing everything he could to stop the creative outlet The Rams were looking to expoit. In the 24th minute Zammit made another wonderful save and turned the ball into attack very quickly, Joe Chott got onto the end of it twisted and turned before releasing a shot to no avail. This led to a spell of dominance for The Devs, a couple of chances one of which looked to be in from Marcus Rivers but hits the side netting. On the next attack Prince Nimoh done what he has done all season, he put his Ghanaian dancing shoes on inside the box which completely mesmerised the opposition defender causing him to bring Prince down … Penalty to The Devs !!! The ever Reliable Marcus Rivers steps up and strikes a beautiful penalty towards the side netting only for the Young Rams keeper to make a wonderful penalty save. Within minutes The Rams keeper had made two more unbelievable saves, first off Tom Shaw strikes a thunderous shot into the top right corner yet some how the keeper gets a finger to it, from the resulting Tom Shaw corner Prince Nimoh heads towards goal only for the Keeper to get down low to his right to turn the ball away. On the strike of half time The rams have a rare attack which sees The Devs initially clear but react slowly to the second phase, the opposing captain didnt and hit a phenomenal strike past the diving Dev keeper … 1-0 down!!! The Devs head in at Half Time behind despite having the better chances. For the Second Half we challenged The Devs to a front foot approach that saw us be more aggressive out of possession to try to encourage mistakes out of the younger opposition. The second half began, we started quickly and had two opportunities in the first five minutes, first off Prince Nimoh went on another mazey run but couldn't get the angle to get the shot off before a beautiful piece of interplay involving 7 players ended with Jude G-B hitting a sweet strike just over the bar. On the 59th minute we made our first two changes, off came Jude GB & Joe Chott for Roshan Patel and Ivan Otono. Both immediately got stuck into the action. Roshan Patel with his energy and enthusiasm, Ivan Otono with his direct pace and power in forward areas.

Development Side Update Although we had the control of the game it seemed to be petering out, a few half chances across the box came to nothing as did a couple of dangerous free kicks delivered by Tom Shaw. The 74th minute see our third sub as the experienced Paolo Bagatti replaced the brilliant Alex Mitchell. At about 75mins the coaching staff were about to introduce The Devs very own Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Big Connor Wagner, there has not been a game this season where he has come on that he has not caused absolute mayhem but as this was being prepared Prince Nimoh went on another one of his direct runs which draws three opposition players to him, he drops the ball back to Roshan Patel who is in support, he lofts the ball into a great area which causes a melee of chances, first off a strike by Marcus Rivers hits the post, followed by Ivan Otonos follow up cleared off the line and finally lifted home by Roy Byron … The Devs level 1-1. The conundrum for the Coaching staff was to stick or twist, well…. they decided to twist. They stuck with going two up top searching for the full 3 points on offer. On came Big Connor Wagner and he didn’t disappoint, immediately throwing his weight around, holding the ball and winning headers. Into stoppage time, we had been knocking at the door of the Young Rams side and in the 92nd minute we had our break through!!! Marcus Rivers ran across the edge of the box and played a lovely reverse ball into the box, it fell at the feet of the man of the moment Prince Nimoh who had his first attempt saved brilliantly again by the opposing keeper before heading home the rebound … 2-1 to The devs Seconds later the Full time whistle blew. Man of the Match was undoubtedly Prince Nimoh. He was back to his electric self. Causing the opposition no end of problems, having a hand in both goals as well as the penalty he won. With results elsewhere going our way, we are now 9 points from a potential league triumph. No matter the outcome the desire, belief and quality of this ever evolving group has been amazing. We now need to keep focus and keep working hard, if we do this the rewards .

Y R O T IS H rs e g n a R h g u ro o b Ris Risborough Rangers Football Club started in 1970 as a team of 12-year olds who wanted to play competitive football. The main motivators were Life Presidents Tony Elsey and Derek Wallace. Derek was instrumental in forming the Wycombe Star League that now provides football for hundreds of youngsters in the Wycombe area, and Risborough Rangers currently have teams at all ages ranging from the Under 10 to Under 16 playing in this league. In the 1975/76 season, the previous years Under 16's went into the Wycombe & District League as a men's team, and in their second season in adult football won the 3rd Division. Unfortunately, the team then folded, after which the club provided only boy's football until the Under 16's of 1979/80, having won the United-Carr Cup, went into the Reading Youth League for two seasons, and then the Wycombe & District League. They won promotion in successive seasons and were followed two years later by the following years Under 16's as a reserve team, who emulated the feats of their predecessor, ending up in the Ercol Senior League and the FA Walters Premier League consecutively. At around this time, Rangers moved to 'Windsors', their current ground. 'Windsors' had been the home of the now defunct Princes Risborough Town FC who were one of the founder members of the Hellenic league in 1953. Within several years, club members had managed to improve the ground substantially by building the clubhouse. In 1989 Risborough accepted an invitation to join the South Midlands League Division 1. In the first two seasons the club found the level difficult and finished second from the bottom and therefore had to apply for re-election. The 1991/92 season saw a great improvement when Risborough finished in 8th position whilst also celebrating its 21st anniversary. In the 1994/95 season, they were promoted to the newly formed Senior Division, after finishing 4th under the management of Frank Carter and they consolidated with a mid-table position in the next season. In the mid-90s, Bob Rayner became manager for the first time and saw the establishment of a sound youth policy with an Under 18's team in the Wycombe & South Bucks Youth League. After a reasonably successful spell, in which the club reached the semi-final of the Senior Division Cup and the quarter final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy, Bob was offered the job of Brackley Town manager in the Southern league and took the opportunity to test himself at a higher level. After Bob left at the start of the 1998/99 season, former assistant Jon Franklin took over as manager and maintained a consistent level of football at the club. After Jon’s' departure, the club began to struggle and were eventually relegated to Division Two. In 2005, chairman Richard Woodward persuaded Bob Rayner to return to the club following his departure from Thame United. Finishing fourth in his first two seasons back and just missing out on the runners up spot in the final game in the second season, Bob has had to rebuild his side from the Rangers junior ranks. He has patiently waited for his young side to blossom and the patience began to pay off in the 2010/11 season when Rangers achieved a fifth-place finish and reached the semi-final of the Challenge Trophy, losing 2-0 to the eventual winner and Premier Division champions, Chalfont St Peter. On route to the semi-final, Rangers beat four teams from divisions above them including division one champions Berkhamsted Town. The 2011/12 season was Risborough's best season of late with a late charge securing runners up spot in the league, and a first cup final reached in over 20 years, losing the Anagram Records Trophy final 1-0 to Baldock Town of the Hertfordshire County Senior League. The next season brought two good cup runs. Risborough's progress in the Anagram Record's Trophy was halted in the Semi Final by Baldock Town. The rematch of the previous season’s final ended up with the same score line as Baldock went on to defend the trophy. A second cup final in two years was achieved via the Division 2 cup, although the prospect of lifting the

A league finish of fourth was achieved, and with the hard work off the pitch, including securing the funding for floodlights which were erected in time for the 2012/13 season. In 2016 Risborough finally won some silverware, after several near misses over the last few years. The Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup was claimed after a 2-1 AET win over United Counties League Olney Town. 2016/17 season saw Bob Rayner retire and his son Jamie take charge saw the club finish in a creditable 6th position and reach the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup before losing on penalties to eventual winners Woodley United. The 2017/8 season started with some promise but sadly this didn’t last with the club finishing in 8th place, the highlight of the campaign, however, was a run in the Challenge Trophy which included victories over Premier Division sides Leighton Town, Oxhey Jets, Edgware Town and London Colney, but alas were beaten 3-1 in the Final by fellow Division One side Broadfields United at Colney Heath. In October 2018 then current manager Jamie Rayner decided to step down from his position because of work commitments. The Club advertised the position and after a healthy response, the Board appointed the former Hemel Hempstead Town, Arlesey Town, Leighton Town Aylesbury United, Aylesbury FC boss Mark Eaton as their new man. When Eaton took over the club were 19th in Division One and a massive negative goal difference but come the end of the season Rangers finished in 7th spot with a positive goal difference as the season was turn on it’s head. The season ended though with some silverware when London Lions were defeated 2-0 in the final of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One Cup, which was played at Leverstock Green. Because of the ongoing re-construction of the non-league system the club made a lateral movement to the Hellenic League Division One East from the Spartan for the start of the 2019/20 season. The 2019/20 season saw Rangers unbeaten and top the league by 12 points with a game in hand over 2nd place Abingdon United after playing 23 games out of the full 32. The COVID pandemic put an end to any hopes of promotion to step 5 for the first time in the clubs history however as the season was officially voided. However, in 2021 the club were promoted to the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League based on their results in the abandoned 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons.
