Happy Endings Montana

Montana came into the shelter on October 22, 2012, after running at large for a few days. He came in a mere 45 pounds and not sure of what was going on. He had a recently injured back paw with what seemed like a broken toe. He received routine vet care and everything was checked out as okay to heal on its own. Montana is a unique light brindle boy whom we were sure someone would come looking for, but no one ever did. He loved people, loved to play, was great on a leash and was absolutely gorgeous, but he was overlooked again and again.

One day we shared him on facebook and the right organizations must have seen him. Steve Capporizzo’s “Pet Connection” once again decided to share one of our beautiful dogs. Montana was the lucky boy. From there, John Gray of Fox 23 also shared Montana’s story. Thousands of people saw Montana’s picture, but only a few calls came in. Most of them weren’t the best fit for our boy. Then one day about two weeks later, the perfect couple wanted to give him a home! They met him and instantly fell in love! Montana went from living in a kennel for over three years to having TWO homes of his own. He was adopted and left his three-year kennel home, a healthy and happy 64-pound ham! Now he has one home during the week and a weekend lake house home of his own! He couldn’t have been luckier, and we couldn’t be more thankful. It was a bittersweet day when he left, but we couldn’t be happier for him and his lovely family.

U PCOMING E VENTS

President’s Greeting I hope this newsletter will bring you up to date on all the great things happening at the shelter. Since our last newsletter we have added several new board members and have completed a realignment of officers. The board of directors and our dedicated staff and volunteers have a mission. That mission is to provide the best possible care for the animals in our charge, period. Thanks to the contributions of local foundations, businesses, the support of our fundraisers and the public’s generousity, we have mostly equipped our surgical suite. With the help of veterinarians Dr. Linda Kolnick and Dr. Thomas Armitstead, we can now hold spay and neuter, and micro chip clinics at our facility. A special thanks to Dr. Kolnick for help with equipment and layout. We have also added a new security system, credit card processing ability, total building stand-by generator, new well pump, water conditioning equipment and have begun replacing our dog kennels. Thanks to all our wonderful supporters that make it possible for us to save hundreds of dogs and cats every year. Come out and pay us a visit. Maybe adopt a dog or cat. You will not regret it! Check us out on our website; see the animals available today.

Thunder

Thank you again for supporting us! Jospeh M. Rosemyer President/Board of Directors

Thunder spent 1,257 long days at Ayres. When Thunder came in as a stray in August of 2013, he was wet, unsure, and wanted to go home. His previous owners never came for him. Thunder quickly was reminded by us on the staff of the love that he so rightly deserved to get every day. We loved him like our very own, and he flourished into an amazing, loving, and well-trained pitty boy, one that got overlooked for so long. Then a family came in at the beginning of 2016 to find a new family member after having lost a dog that they had held so near to their hearts. They knew it was time to give another pet the love that their last beloved pet had left behind. Thunder was in his kennel when they walked by and out of all of the dogs at Ayres, they were attracted to him. His would-be adopters spent hours with him to bond and get to know him better before making the jump to bringing him home. It was not long after that that we took sweet Thunder to his new forever family. Three years in a shelter and he adjusted to his new home life as if he had always been there. Thunder is always accompanying someone throughout the day, whether it is hiking, lounging on the couch, going for rides, having play dates with his new best friend (a dog named Lily) or just moseying around the yard. There is no doubt that Thunder hit the jackpot, and we couldn’t be happier for him and his family. A family member even messaged us to thank us for helping to make their family whole again.
