HEY 39N! Hope y’all have had a great first week of school! These first few weeks of school should be a great opportunity to recruite new members; get as many members as possible to expand your home club’s membership as well as Key Club International’s membership. Get together with your club officers and decide on a schedule for meetings. When you do this, please send me this schedule once you have! It is really important for me to be able to visit you all, and in order for me to do this I need to know when I can visit! Another thing you all need to be getting together, is your club budget. Kiwanis’s year starts in October, so your corresponding Kiwanis Club’s need to know your budgets. -Aysha Moneer
September Checklist ◊ Update Contact Information on the T-O website. Contact me if you do not know how to do this! ◊ Complete monthly reports ◊ Get in touch with your Kiwanis club and approve your budget ◊ Let me know your meeting dates, events, etc ◊ Keep me in the loop regarding everything about your club!
Membership Recruitment Guide: Key Club International • Establish goals- Determine, as a club or as a board, the number of new members you are striving for. Provide incentives for present members for bringing new members. • Advertise- Make sure that for whatever formats your club chooses to recruit new members that the entire student body is aware of it. Posters, flyers, table tents in the lunchroom, e-mail, announcements, school newsletters, bulletin boards, electronic bulletin boards, and personal contact should all be used to get the word out about an upcoming Key Club recruitment event. • Be organized- Planning an informational membership event, regardless of whether or not it is a social or formal event, needs to be thorough and done well in advance. Involve your club officers and as many members as possible. Establish a timetable. Arrange for the facilities, refreshments, and all outside assistance. • Get help from outside sources- The club can contact the division’s lieutenant governor for ideas. • Arrange for transportation- This is probably the most overlooked aspect of membership. Assign upperclassmen to a transportation committee to provide transportation for those students who have difficulty making meetings and projects outside of school hours.
Membership Update Center 1. Go to www.keyclub.org/MUC to access the Membership Update Center. 2. Click “Register/Reset Password.” Clubs with only new faculty members should do this! Clubs with faculty members from last year may use the same information as last year. 3. You’ll be prompted to enter an email address. The faculty advisor must then enter his/her email address. He/She should receive a confirmation email informing he/she that his/her email address has been recognized and providing him/her with a unique hyperlink which will allow him/her to set his/her own, new password to access the Membership Update Center whenever he/she would like. 4. If your faculty advisor’s email has been rejected, then you will need to email memberservices@kiwanis.org with a request to update your club’s faculty advisor contact information before you can set yourself a password and get into the system. Once your information is updated, then you should be able to go through the process detailed in step 3. 5. After you have set a new password for your club, then you will be able to log into the Membership Update Center in future years using your advisor’s email address and your personal password. Once you get into the system, it is much improved from previous years and should be fairly self-explanatory. For more details about how to navigate the system once you are logged in, please see the Kiwanis help video (http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gV47UE5uas). If you ever need help with paying dues, contact District Treasurer, at treasurer@tokeyclub.com or District Administrator, at administrator@tokeyclub.com.
