Vision A group of Developments (client) has asked for a cohesive analysis of the existing golf courses in Calgary to be replaced with a new community for seniors and the aging population. The goal is to support ageing in place. The vision of the study is to ensure that the main needs of the aging population are met and they will benefit a high quality of life in the future.

Each of these principles includes other important sub-categories. In order to achieve an multifaceted decision and confidently justify it, we need to assess all of these factors in each golf course and attribute a relative weight to them.

2. Proximity to shopping centres 15% Its important for the aging population to have immediate access to convenient stores, otherwise the result would be relying on other people. This will reduce seniors self-confidence. During the cold seasons, shopping centers are Ideal for walking for seniors.

3. Demographic considerations 20% A surrounding community with a high number of seniors is more likely to have a high demand for senior housing development. This will provide the opportunity for aging in place and staying at the same pat of the city. Many seniors are living their homes to downsize. Choosing the best site in terms of demographics will guaranty senior’s future settlement.

4. Preschool population 5% Having regular positive interactions with family and friends and being involved in several different social networks can help older adults be healthier. Close connections with others are likely to promote good health by shaping daily behavior that directly affects physical health. In recent years there are daycares opening inside seniors’ housing facilities. This will promote social interaction for both generations. Population of preschool children will indicate this potential.

5. Property value and affordability 10% The retired population often struggles with the tight budget. Affordability is one of the key factors that should always be considered when planning of this market. On one hand they deserve a life with dignity and respect and on the other hand they are not able to afford expensive services and products. Living in an expensive neighborhood will have negative effects on the image they have from themselves.

6. Healthcare accessibility Due to the reduced mobility of many seniors on one hand and the relatively high frequency of need on the other hand, it’s crucial to have healthcare facilities, close to the residential area.
