THINGS TO KNOW: This Southwestern culinary landmark originally opened in 1919 as the world’s largest cattle feedlot. With the addition of a steakhouse in 1947, it’s been serving culinary aficionados ever since. It’s famous for both the role it played in Arizona’s cattle industry, as well as its stunning architectural design, and was even recently placed on the City of Phoenix Historical Register. Stockyards offers lunch, dinner, and happy hour menus, as well as a wine list.

DON’T MISS: All customers are treated to a traditional relish tray and a heaping basket of baking soda biscuits and cornbread muffins. If steak isn’t really your thing, go for the skillet salmon with citrus-chile glaze and rice pilaf. And for dessert, try the Citrus Burnt Cream (their version of creme brulee) or their Ancho Chile Brownie with cinnamon ice cream, Mexican chocolate sauce and spiced candied pepitas.
