Greetings from Foundation for Inter-Cultural Dialogue,

The Foundation for Intercultural Dialogue (FID), is organizing the Fourth Annual Arizona Children's Festival on April 27, 2014 at the Mesa Center for the Arts between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. The Festival is open to all children in Arizona and their parents and admission is free. The Festival includes music/dance performances by children representing different cultures/traditions, an artwork contest for elementary and middle school children, and. The theme of the festival is determined as “diversity”. Students who are participating in the artwork contests are expected to respond to the theme of each contest, “Diversity”, respectively. Through the stage performances and the contests, we believe that this Festival will serve to increase our children's awareness to diversity, enrich their education, and encourage their creativity. It is such an opportunity to recognize talented individuals who are performing for such a meaningful event. Therefore, we would like you to encourage your students to participate in the artwork contest and come to the festival on April 27th. There are three categories for the Art Contest which are; K-3, 4-6 and 7-8. Top 4 of the each category will be rewarded with $100- $75-$50 -$25 Amazon Gift Cards. Additionally, Teachers of the Winners of each category will be also rewarded with $100 Amazon Gift Card. We are contemplating to display Top 100 artwork in the entrance of Mesa Art Center. FOUNDATION FOR INTER-CULTURAL DIALAGUE FID is an independent and a non-profit organization established to promote understanding, mutual respect, collaboration, and community service among different communities through inter-cultural dialogue. FID was originally established by a group of Turkish Arizonans but is open to anybody who is excited with the idea of inter-cultural dialogue. FID has been very active in the Phoenix metropolitan area and in Tucson, AZ, through educational, social, and community service events/projects to facilitate dialogue and support among different communities since September 2004. FID often collaborates with city governments and religious and cultural establishments to be able to reach out to more people and contribute to the social life in Arizona. In January 2007, FID was awarded the Martin Luther King Diversity Award by the City of Tempe for its commitment to diversity. FID also supports student organizations to increase awareness to diversity within college campuses.

The Arizona Children’s Festival and Its Potential Benefits to the Society Since 2008, FID has been organizing a series of events tailored for children, including the Arizona Children’s Festival. The theme of this year’s festival is “diversity” and the target audience is the elementary and middle school children. The Festival includes music and dance performances by several groups of children representing different cultures and traditions. Through the performances and these contests, we hope that the children will have fun and be exposed to an atmosphere that they have never been before. We believe that this Festival will serve to increase the awareness of our children to cultural diversity within our society, enrich their education, and encourage their creativity. The admission to the Festival is free. FID has contacted several cultural/religious establishments and school administrators within the Phoenix Metropolitan area to promote this event and to seek for interested parties to be represented on stage. FID’s Public Relations Office is also working to promote this event through newspaper ads and interviews with TV/Radio stations, newspapers, and magazines. We hope to see approximately 500 children and parents at the Festival.
