For the project, Moss Living worked closely with the interior designer to achieve the desired unique, luxurious feel for the home. Sections of the home – commonly seen and used by guests – are tastefully furnished with specific products namely wall features to further accentuate these sections, yet still keeping a balance look and feel with the rest of the interior. The TV Wall Feature is crafted in one of Moss Living’s signature designs, Mother of Pearl Overlapping Blocks, made with smoked and natural finish Mother of Pearl shells. The decorative panels, in custom size 70cm × 70cm, are intricately handcrafted piece by piece to create the wall feature. Mother of Pearl is the material of choice for their durability and beauty to create the desired bejewelled impression for the wall feature.
Starburst is another signature design selected for the project. Decorative panels made with a combination of Mother of
Pearl and aluminium (size 30cm × 30cm) are used to create a one-of-its-kind seethrough wall divider that partially hides the staircase leading to the second floor. Similar decorative panels are also used for the recessed section of cabinetry works near the entrance of the home.
A wall feature created in medium cracked design with smoked textured Black Pearl becomes the main focal point in the dining area. The design helps reflect light throughout the area, while the overall wall feature matched the contemporary décor of the home.

SKYARENA SPORTS COMPLEX Kuala Lumpur’s latest landmark showcases a unique blend of iconic architecture, state-of-the-art sports facilities and COLORBOND® steel W e need places for various reasons such as to live, to work, to eat and etc. Architects are responsible for designing these places by developing and transforming architectural concepts into reality. However, architecture is more than just designing beautiful structures; the buildings must also be functional, safe and capable to suit the needs of the people who use them – these formed part of Kun Lim Architect’s design principles when the architecture firm was approached by SkyWorld Development Group, in a joint venture with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), to craft the masterplan for SkyArena at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
Billed as “Kuala Lumpur’s first vertical community that puts wellness at the centre of everything we do”, SkyArena is a 28-acre DESIGNING FOR HISTORY: SKYARENA SPORTS COMPLEX COLORBOND ® steel by NS BlueScope Malaysia KAWA NS 450 STANDING SEAM by United Seasons Sdn Bhd ARCHITECT: Kun Lim Architect integrated mixed development comprising high-rise residential towers, a boutique hotel, flexible SOHOs and retail outlets. The largest component and centrepiece of the development is the SkyArena Sports Complex that covers 9.4 acres of land, which is poised to be the city’s largest, upon its completion in February 2020. WELLNESS-INSPIRED ARCHITECTURE In a bid to realise the developer’s vision of a first-of-its-kind sports complex to promote healthy lifestyle and social activities amongst the community, the architecture firm’s Design Principal Mr Kun Lim focused in creating an iconic sports and recreational centre with the best facilities while keeping the community’s comfort in mind. The complex is packaged as a dynamic building with a lot of expression of movement – which is what sports is all about – yet the overall architectural expression of the building must be cohesive, so that “a building with various functions can be understood in totality”. Further, the design also optimises both indoor and outdoor thermal conditions at a comfortable level.
The SkyArena Sports Complex is designed as a four-storey building with a built-up area of 530,000sq ft, with naturally-ventilated atrium and housed over 20 state-of-the-art facilities that can be used for both local and national level competitions; these include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a triplevolume rock climbing facility and a fitness
centre as well as sports halls that can be converted for banquet use – hence, making full use of the space in the building. The architect took inspiration from site visits in Taipei particularly multi-level and multidisciplinary sports complexes, as he believes that this type of building should be the cornerstone in the SkyArena neighbourhood community.
The sports complex also features an outdoor track and field, a soccer field, along with a spectator stand and a VIP viewing area. An 80-room athletes’ hostel is attached on the south side of the sports complex, complete with its own independent access as well as café, function and meeting rooms.
To accommodate the diverse functions with different spatial, functional and technical requirements under one roof, including feedbacks from multiple stakeholders and budget, the architect managed to achieve the ideal balance between form and function by focusing on the functional aspect of the design. Once the design fulfilled all the functional requirements, form comes naturally; the overall form of SkyArena Sports Complex meets the architect’s expectation where the building is recognised as sporty, dynamic,
cheerful and welcoming, yet it does not reduce the effectiveness or functional aspect of the complex.

Approximately 1,200 panels of KAWA NS 450 are used to wrap the side walls located at the swimming pool area and the building frontage ceiling eaves. The panels are first roll-formed to designated profile and sizes before being delivered to the site. The panels are then fastened piece by piece to a wall backing with concealed fixing system, which requires no screw punctures on exposed surface and thus minimises leakages, before being locked in place using special standing seam clamping tools.
The termination of the standing seam for wall cladding application was one of the biggest challenges during construction but thanks to the experts at UniSon, the architect was able to explore a variety of solutions i.e. how the wall cladding can be seamlessly connected to the roof panels, how to create openings so fixed windows can be properly installed in this section of the building and to form the sharp-turning corners of the metal wall.

DuPont has announced a new set of Dupont TM Tedlar TM Wallcoverings designs for the healthcare segment, which will be showcased at the Healthcare Design Expo (HCD) from 3 – 5 November 2019 in New Orleans, USA. DuPont TM Tedlar® films have been used as wallcovering for healthcare facilities for over 35 years. Since its installation in the early 1980s in the Omega Medical Center, the center has not experienced any stains, delamination, peeling or cracking. “We have been very happy with this product’s performance. For us, Tedlar® is the standard by which all other wallcoverings are compared,” said Siobhan Hawkins, Director of Operations at the Omega Medical Center.
