Is hope on the horizon for the lake? Completed repairs, El Niño could raise Eagle Mountain BY CARLA NOAH STUTSMAN Prayers for precipitation continue around Eagle Mountain Lake – along with rain dances, predictions of both continued drought and soon-to-arrive floods, and the ever-popular blame game. Some say the city of Fort Worth is to blame while others fault Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) or Ross Perot. A post on a popular local Facebook page pointed out that Cedar Creek Lake is currently at pool elevation – which means it’s full. Chad Lorance, spokesperson for TRWD, addressed how things sit at EML. He said that after a month-long hiatus for maintenance on the RichlandChambers pipeline, pumping of water High and dry. That’s the phrase that’s been uttered for years now as Eagle Mountain Lake struggles with the drought. More than 10 feet low, things might improve with the resumption of water flow from Richland Chambers Lake – and an El Niño. Photo by Carla Noah Stutsman
