Christmas On Main Street sure to become tradition BY CARLA NOAH STUTSMAN Downtown Azle was busier than Santa and all the elves Saturday, Dec. 5. Christmas on Main Street – the fi rst one ever presented by the Azle Women’s Business Association – was deemed a huge success by those who came out to shop, eat festival food, watch, or participate in the many activities the event provided. Vendor booths lined both sides of the roadway, and no one seemed to be the least bit bothered by temporary stop signs manned by Azle police of-
fi cers. The signs provided safe crossing for pedestrians and kept vehicular traffi c at an appropriate, slow pace throughout the day. Meanwhile, The Optimist Club of Azle hosted many children’s activities, including a Santa Claus photo op and a bicycle giveaway at 404 Main Place from 2-5 p.m. At 5, sounds of a community singalong drew a crowd to the Azle Historical Museum, where State Representative Charlie Geren led the fi nal countdown to the lighting of the offi cial Azle Christmas Tree.
