Levy, Executive Director). TIGERS BE STILL was developed in a professional workshop production at Portland Stage Company, Portland, ME.

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR “All happy families resemble one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way “ – Tolstoy Ah family! Has there ever been an institution more examined, extolled, vilified, celebrated or suffered through? Whether it’s the one we’re born into, the one we create (by partnering and/or parenting) or the ones that seem to form themselves around us, families have been fodder for theater since the Greeks. We seem to be endlessly fascinated watching others suffer or celebrate with their families; they really do form the core of our relationships with one another and with the world. I love this Tolstoy quote, it pretty much sums up the kind of work we do at Azuka. Not necessarily unhappy families, just the ones who don’t quite fit into a standard mold. As a friend of Azuka’s recently said, our shows are about outcasts and underdogs and I think that sums us up beautifully. We’ve talked a lot about family in rehearsal. From funny parents to annoying cousins, as soon as someone tells a story, three more quickly follow from others in the room. We’ve all been in the proverbial trench that is family, and we like to brag about how we survived. Growing up with three siblings I had my fair share of stories to tell, mostly of teasing or being teased. In fact a good deal of that behavior persists to this day; it’s amazing how being with your family makes you instantly revert to childhood patterns and behaviors. And I’m happy to say I wouldn’t have it any other way. So welcome to the wonderfully whacky world of Tigers Be Still. I’m willing to guess that no matter how quirky these characters may seem, you’ll spot a little bit of yourself (or your sister or your cousin) in one of these characters. For Bryan and Maureen.

WHO’S WHO Jared Michael Delaney (Joseph) Jared is the Associate Artistic Director of Inis Nua Theatre Company and co-founder of Revolution Shakespeare. As an actor, he has worked regionally with the Folger Theater, Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Walnut Street Theatre, Sierra Rep. Theater, River Valley Rep., Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Lantern Theater, Theatre Workshop of Nantucket, the Theatre at Monmouth and Azuka Theatre, among others. He has twice been nominated for “Best Ensemble” at Philly’s Barrymore Awards (winning once). As a playwright, he has had three short plays produced as part of the Philadelphia FringeArts Festival. The Hand of Gaul, his first full-length play, was produced by Inis Nua Theatre Company in April 2013. He is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. Thanks to Kevin and the Azukans for having him back. Trevor William Fayle (Zack) This will be Trevor’s second show with Azuka, and first one on the Azuka stage! He could not be happier to be here working on the production of Tigers be Still! Previous credits most recently include Emma at the Lantern and Owners with Inversion Theatre Co. Thanks to Kevin for directing and just being who he is. Special thanks as always to the family, for all the love and support.
Felicia Leicht (Grace) Felicia is delighted to be making her Azuka Theatre debut. She is a recent graduate of Villanova University’s Graduate Theater program where she was an acting scholar and a recipient of the Brian G. Morgan Award. She has performed regionally with Philadelphia Artists Collective, Shakespeare in Clark Park, Commonwealth Classic Theatre Company, Plays and Players, and the National Constitution Center among others, and has also co-created and performed original works for the Philadelphia Live Arts, Philly Fringe, and Berkshire Fringe Festivals. Next up, she will be appearing in Revolution Shakespeare’s Five Kings. Much love to the incomparable Stephen Hungerford and la famiglia. For Lena. Anna Zaida Szapiro (Sherry) Anna is thrilled to be making her Azuka debut! Anna is a Philadelphia-based actor and devised theatre artist. Since moving to Philly in 2011, she has collaborated as a performer/creator in original works by companies including No Face Performance Group (From the Swamp to the Stars, PIFA), Hybridge Arts Collective (The Travelers), and Fur Collective (Scout, Philly Fringe). Other recent credits include The Renegade Company, New Paradise Laboratories, and The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre. Anna holds a BA in Art History from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and is a graduate of Headlong Performance Institute. Up next: Mixed Connections and Other Curiosities at Simpatico Theatre Project. Thanks to Kevin, Allison, and the wonderful cast and crew! Kim Rosenstock (Playwright) Kim has written several plays including Tigers Be Still which played a sold-out run in its premiere at Roundabout Underground and was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award. She is currently working on commissions for Dallas Theater Center, Roundabout Theatre Company, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Ars Nova, where she was the 2011 Playwright-in-Residence. Awards include the Clauder Prize from Portland Stage Company and Aspen Theater Masters’ Visionary Playwright Award. She is a graduate of Amherst College where she first began writing plays under the mentorship of Constance Congdon, and holds an MFA in playwriting from Yale School of Drama. Kevin Glaccum (Director) Kevin has been a member of Azuka Theatre since he created the role of Guillaume in Azuka’s inaugural production of La Rue des Faux. For Azuka he has directed productions of Dutch Masters, Pookie Goes Grenading, Everyone and I, Hope Street and Other Lonely Places, Act a Lady, Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom, Nerve, Whisky Neat, Greek Active, Kid Simple, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Barrymore Nomination; Best Director of a Musical, Philadelphia Weekly), Azuka One-Acts, Four, The Boys and Sincerity Forever. Other credits include Say Goodnight, Gracie (Act II Playhouse) Iron Kisses (Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Theater Festival), The Shoes (Philadelphia Fringe Festival) and The Rocky Horror Show, Club California and Proof at Arcadia University where he’s also an adjunct professor. Before turning to directing he appeared in Azuka’s productions of Metamorphosis, Friends and An Artist’s Workshop. Kevin is a member of The Lincoln Center Directors Lab and currently serves as Board President for Theatre Philadelphia. Thanks to HP. Sara Outing (Scenic Designer) Sara is a freelance scenic artist and Production Apprentice at InterAct Theatre Company. She has assistant stage managed for Kingdom of Earth (South Camden Theatre Company), 42ndStreet (The Broadway Theatre of Pitman) as well as regional productions (at Manbites Dog, Burning Coal Theatre Company) in her home state of North Carolina. Scenic design and construction credits include the Young Voices Monologue Festival 2013 and 2014 (Philadelphia Young Playwrights), Chess (Kun-Yang Lin / Dancers), Spring Awakening (Penn Players), Legally Blonde and Children of Eden (Penn Singers), and The Good Times Are Killing Me (U Penn Theatre Arts). Sara works seasonally as a puppeteer and studio manager with Paperhand Puppet Intervention in Saxapahaw, NC. Amanda Jensen (Lighting Designer) Amanda has made Philly her home ever since finishing her residency in electrics at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven. Along with being a lighting designer Amanda is also the Production Manager at Theatre Exile and Technical Director at Plays and Players. Past designs include, Swimming in the Shallows (Long Wharf Theatre Next Stage Production), Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Friend and Foe), Self:Same (UArts), A Little Play about Betrayal, Cold (Quince Productions), The Homosexuals (Quince Productions), XY Scheherazade (Unstuck Theatre), Owners (InVersion), Disappearing Quarterback (Plays and Players), Three Musketeers (Swarthmore College), Equivocation (Swarthmore College), and Lex and Goldaline: A Mirror Fugue in Three Acts (Swarthmore College). Her next project after Tigers is The Screwtape Letters at the Lantern. Rachel Coon (Costume Designer) Rachel just received her MFA in Costume Design from Temple University. She completed her undergraduate work at The Ohio State University and worked as an apprentice at CATCO in Columbus, Ohio. During her time at Temple University she designed Urinetown, Top Girls, Spring Awakening and her thesis production, The Liar. Rachel has recently finished serving as Wardrobe Coordinator for Pig Iron Theatre Company’s production of Twelfth Night for both its Philadelphia and New York runs. She currently works as a freelance costume designer and teaching artist in the Philadelphia Area. Rachel is eternally grateful to be a part of the Philadelphia theatre community and sends all her love to her family in Ohio. Jay Gilman (Sound Designer) Jay is a theatre practitioner and relatively recent Philadelphia transplant. As a sound designer, director, and assistant director he has collaborated with organizations including Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Baltimore Center Stage, their Maryland Young Playwrights Festival, Fells Point Corner Theatre, the Baltimore Playwrights Festival, and more. He currently holds staff positions at Philadelphia Young Playwrights and the Bearded Ladies Cabaret. Thanks to Kevin for this opportunity and the entire team for their hard work. Logan Wall (Properties) Logan is a Baltimore native now residing in Philadelphia. She has a specialized business degree in special effects makeup with a concentration on prop fabrication. With 5 years of experience in film and photography she has recently found a nice segway into theater. The opportunity has arisen with the production Tigers Be Still. Sally Ollove (Dramaturg) Sally is the Resident Dramaturg at Azuka Theatre. She has dramaturged locally for Arden Theatre Company, The Bearded Ladies Cabaret, Gas & Electric Arts, and Theatre Exile and nationally at the American Repertory Theatre, Signature Theatre Company in New York, and Untitled Theatre Company #61 among others. Sally also teaches at Rowan University and holds an MFA in Dramaturgy from the MXAT/ART Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University. Thanks to Kevin and the Azuka family.
Michael Osinski (Assistant Director) Michael is one of the co-founders of Flashpoint Theatre Company, where he served as the Producing Artistic Director and directed Caryl Churchill’s Far Away, Neil LaBute’s autobahn, and four other local premieres. He has directed for the Wilma Theater, Allens Lane Theatre, and the Philadelphia GLBT Theatre Festival, and he has assisted at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Strawdog Theatre, and the National New Play Network Showcase. Michael is currently completing his MFA in Directing at The Theatre School at DePaul University, where he directed Machinal, When the Rain Stops Falling, the ensemble-devised The Hamlet Project, and the premiere of Moth by Australian playwright Declan Greene. www.Michael-Osinski.com Jennifer Shaw (Stage Manager) Jennifer is excited to join Azuka Theatre for her first production! Previous theatre credits include Assistant Stage Manager for The Exonerated, The Story of My Life, Lend Me A Tenor, and Any Given Monday (Delaware Theatre Company) as well as Dino!, The Prescott Method, Vincent in Brixton, Around the World in 80 Days, and Plaid Tidings (Walnut Street Theatre). Previous opera credits include Assistant Stage Manager for Il trovatore, Barber of Seville, and Don Giovanni (Opera New Jersey). Ithaca College graduate. Lauren Tracy (Production Manager) Lauren is thrilled to be joining Azuka’s New Professionals team. She is also the Production Manager for Plays & Players and Cheltenham High School. She is a Stage Manager and has been the Resident Stage Manager for Azuka for the past four seasons. She’s a proud graduate of Syracuse University’s Stage Management program. Lauren thanks her friends, family, and especially Andrew for all of their love and support. Johanna Austin (Production Photographer) Johanna of AustinArt has had the pleasure of working with Azuka since she fell in love with them and their Nerve (April 2010 production). For 14 years Johanna has been exploring her perceptions of the world through photography. She hones her sense of composition by focusing on the essence of what she sees, and presents it with a fresh eye. Johanna specializes in creating dynamic, vibrant images in low-light atmospheres of performance venues of all kinds. Although she shoots everything, her photography is inspired by a desire to create a still life out of performance art. She thrives on constructing images that would otherwise be forgotten, and often, not even seen at all.
