EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 4

In response to the change in legislation in the UAE, according to the new visa rule for jobseekers and temporary workers, employees bring about visionary changes from the skills and experience they have acquired in diverse industries that promote growth for the following years to come. The job seekers and temporary workers need an accessible space to work and pitch in ideas to create corporate relationships within the country. Currently, people work at shared workspaces, cafÊs or private space that doesn’t create a collaborative culture among the newcomers for creating a sustainable and a different working environment in the country. The temporary workers and job seekers need consideration through standardizing the workspace that could create networking that functionally support them collaborate with people of similar interest at the best locations that are suitable for growth. My project explores the opportunity of changing the workspaces and hubs by creating a tool that helps in the booking of workspaces with various locations available for short term and long term. As the Expo 2020 is a global destination for millions to share ideas, showcase innovation, It presents ideas and potential plans to introduce the change in working hubs that has also touched upon some essential modules created for making use of the opportunity changing it into success. This project is not only research of problems or an opportunity within the change in legislation, but it also gives the solution to the current workspaces and hubs to regulate the security system and incorporate their physical spaces that are powered by the research solution.

INTRODUCTION

6

The Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai adopted many visa facilitation for visitors, residents, families, and people overstaying their visa to cater for a broader segment of the society. The new 6- month visa introduced for jobseekers who overstayed their visa but wish to work in the country. According to the current visa regulations in UAE, there were strict laws that need a sponsor for an individual to stamp a visa or needed a reason to stay in the country as a resident. For students, the cabinet included a review of the current residency scheme to allow a two-year extension of the residency period for the dependents of their parents after finishing their university studies. It is illegal to aid workers who are working on visit visa in any corporation without a work permit, but now it helps the employers to try out new talents and professional before posting them for jobs. Freelancers are helping companies to create innovative projects on a short-term basis with the use of contracts, but there are lengthy procedures that lines creating a media license or whatever project they are undertaking. Cafes and workspaces have become either very casual or very formal. Hence, working productively with designed spaces dedicated to accommodating temporary workers or job seekers help in broader opportunity for the users of this specific workspace.

OPPORTUNITY

8

It’s estimated that we spend 35 percent of our lives in the office, so for those not lucky enough to have the bells and whistles – and slides, original slides – of companies like Google or Facebook, it might be worth freshening up your surroundings. With its host of entrepreneurs, start-ups, freelancers and digital nomads, Dubai has plenty of alternative places to set up shop. Deliveroo started life in Dubai here, won over by the easy access to the impressive selection of eateries in the region. More of such brilliant ideas is to come in the upcoming years when fresh talents are flying into UAE for opportunities and living. Since the implementation of the new visa regulations, there is expected growth in the number of professionals with different designation and degrees joining diverse workforces within UAE. Referring back to the workspace requirement for the jobseekers and temporary workers and the perception of the idea by people to access the locations mostly near or co-operating with Expo 2020 to provide workspaces and become a strategic partner. Dubai is upscaling in the shared workspace and hubs with good coffee and ambiance; It is also important there is a standard security system in accessing the workspaces affiliated by the government. Hence the solution will be helping implement security systems that are simple in all the workspaces in partnership to use all the physical workspaces around UAE that is available to book.

SECONDARY RESEARCH 10

“In response to the change in legislation in the UAE, According to the new visa for jobseekers and temporary workers. These type of employees need an accessible space for the them to work at. It is also an opportunity since EXPO 2020 is upcoming and there are a lot of employees from different companies from different countries joining the expo”.

- KHALEEJ TIMES, DUBAI

“Very little is currently known about the globalization of the temporary staffing industry, a strategically significant sector given its role in promulgating wider labor market flexibility. This article starts to rectify this research lacuna in four ways: by conceptualizing the international expansion of temporary staffing and com- paring it to other business service sectors, by identifying and mapping the top twenty transnational staffing agencies, by offering a typology of the leading transnational agencies based on their functional and geographic characteristics, and bycharting a research agenda for future work on this sector”. KeyWords: business-services, globalization, temporary staffing industry.

INITIAL OBSERVATION RESEARCH 12

The study aims to analyse the productivity of coworking spaces with a view to providing useful data for any individuals, businesses or organisations that are considering using these spaces. Generally, coworking spaces are workplaces shared by workers who are not members of the same organisation The term coworking space makes reference to the “joint use of spaces by individuals working in related spheres who seek to take their chances in the labour market as freelancers. In this respect, coworking usually requires the presence of supportive collaboration among individuals The UAE government regulations for visa-jobseekers and temporary workers for such opportunity to Dubai as new talented professionals are coming into the market for unique and contemporary output. Hence if they are provided a workspace in the convenience of this crowd, the business opportunity could be used well for creating a brand.

Journey mapping is a tool used often at the analysis phase of the design process to understand how a user would experience your product, from discovering the product to possibly coming back to it after their first time use. A UX designer stages the context in how the user will use their product, how they will feel and what their thoughts will be throughout the experience. It visualizes customer engagement and helps a company determine what they are doing well and areas of improvement in order to improve a holistic user experience. Along with this, journey mapping allows us to gain empathy by understanding a user’s behavior BEYOND the tasks they are presented with.

To begin, a journey map has two essential components when visualizing a user experience: Touchpoints- Also called actions. What is customer doing and/or what is needed to get to the next step In my UX Map, I have created a map that shows my personas in a condition that I think most categories of people in UAE goes through. I have included their feelings primarily in their solutions to the map to show the anticipated results and future phases that to be implemented.

DATA ANALYSIS

This study tested hypotheses regarding the relationship between social interactions, the coworking environment, and productivity in coworking spaces. A research model was defined to attain two objectives: (1) to analyze whether coworking social interactions have an impact on productivity; and (2) to determine whether the coworking environment improves productivity. My primary research was a stepping stone towards my goal which was the solution to my opportunity. It helped me explore with new ideas and collaborate with the current market trends and market leaders. It also helped me to compile and decide on some specific touchpoints that I felt would support the idea, goal, and objective. My primary research was done in three different ways: interview, surveys, and shadowing. The interview was with impact hub Dubai that gave me an actual understanding of how workspace and hubs work with the clients and potential growth. The second was spreading out a survey that was potential in collecting data about the awareness of people about the government’s change in legislation about temporary visa and shared workspaces. The third was shadowing a temporary worker who is currently working in UAE as a freelancer as a media designer who strived to make a network in Dubai and find people of similar interest.

33

FINAL SOLUTION 35

How and where could 6 month visa, temporary workers and jobseekers work in the UAE? ACCORDING TO THE NEW LABOUR LAW IN THE UAE A new 6-month visa will be introduced for job seekers who overstayed their visa but wish to work in the country. OUTDOOR MARKETING

CONCLUSION The visual concepts and ideas for the business model are just formed, now the tricky part is the beginning of the actual work where we try to develop a physical and a practical project working with people disregarding the design and dealing with finance, management, and governmental procedures to fulfilling a dream. Regarding my opportunity, I have tried to create a concrete idea for the growth and success of a business that deals with a government and workspaces. It is crucial that the implementation of the visa and procedures are carried on such so that I could work furthermore on to it. This Project is not only a book of the process and different design steps that signify the importance of the design process, but it is a tool that helps me find an opportunity through a problem. Moving on to step two...................
