Crescent is a wonderful learning institution. Our beautiful campus offers an ideal setting for our boys to learn and thrive, and where our staff and faculty feel privileged to work each day. Our curriculum is challenging yet invigorating; our co-curricular programming is unparalleled. Our alumni come back often to share their experience with students, connect with their alumni brothers and renew their relationships with past teachers. But arguably, what makes Crescent most special is the feeling of family that permeates every aspect of the school. Each year, I am overwhelmed by the generosity shown by you – our extended family of parents, grandparents, alumni and friends who believe so strongly in what we do. Your support helps ensure that our boys receive the exceptional experience offered at Crescent and inspires all of us to excel in our mission. The collective effort of our Crescent family helped us achieve a number of “bests” during the 2018/19 year. We saw the most ever raised from Parent Annual Giving. Parents from the Class of ’19 raised the most ever for a Grad parent gift. And our Endowment Fund, which among other initiatives provides a Crescent education to boys who otherwise could not afford our tuition, now sits at almost $16,000,000 – an all-time high. Looking ahead, there is much we can look forward to. We are in the fifth and final year of our Strategic Plan 2015-2020 and are well on our way to accomplishing everything that we set out to do under the key pillars of “our people” and “our place”. The first phase of our Master Campus Plan, which envisions a campus that can serve Crescent’s mission and academic program for the next 25 years and beyond, will soon be unveiled. And we are at the initial planning stage of our next Strategic Plan, which will build upon the groundwork put in place over the past five years. These are exciting times indeed. Your support propels the school’s ambitious plans and emboldens us to strive for more. It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child. At Crescent, it takes a family to build a great school. I am honoured to be in service of this goal, and I thank you for your support. Sincerely, Michael Fellin P’24 Headmaster

The External Relations Office is comprised of three administrative departments – Advancement, Marketing and Communications, and Enrolment and Financial Aid. I work closely with the three Directors – Jill Cannon in Advancement, Lynda Torneck in MarComm and David Shaw in Enrolment. The mission of our External Relations office is to boldly and compellingly communicate Crescent’s mission so that we recruit outstanding, mission-fit boys and families and engage them in life-long relationships that keep them emotionally connected and financially committed to their school. Specifically, the mission of the Advancement Office is as follows: Through volunteerism, philanthropy, stewardship, and strong alumni and parent relationships, we strive to develop understanding and engagement among our various constituents in order to strengthen and grow our programs and ensure the financial support and enthusiasm required to fulfill the School’s mission and strategic plan. This Donor Report accounts for gifts made from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. As always, we sincerely thank each and every donor who made a financial contribution to the School during this period. You make us a better institution, and we are very grateful. Highlights from the 2018/19 fiscal year include: • $ 5.36 million pledged in new commitments to the School and The Foundation, including $4.1 million in major gift commitments and over $1.26 million in support of Parent Annual Giving, including many double up and triple up commitments • $2.7 million in new commitments to the Master Campus Plan and over $1.0 million to endowed needsbased financial aid • Over 72% of our Faculty and Staff supported the School with a charitable gift including 100% participation from the Leadership Team I would like to thank George Mavroudis P’18, ’26, Chair of the Development Committee and Governor, along with all members of the Development Committee, for their great work this year. I would also like to thank the great team in External Relations for their work and dedication to the School. Thank you for your continuing support of Crescent School! MESSAGE FROM JA MI E C OU LT ER ’ 8 7 , P’2 1 CHAIR, ALUMNI EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The 2018/19 year was another success for our Alumni Executive Committee, of which I have the privilege of chairing. The Alumni Executive is an outstanding group of committed alumni who volunteer their time to chair and assist in the running and implementation of our varied alumni events and programs. Without their service, we could not offer the programs that we do. Highlights of 2018/19: • C elebrating and honouring our Alumni Recognition Program winners – Jake Graham ’02, Alex Mihailidis ’92 and Barry Gordon ’87, P’21 – and Wall of Honour Inductee, the late Rob Stewart ’97 • 9 of the 12 speakers and presenters at the December 2018 Middle School Day X were alumni. The purpose of the Day X event was to give Middle School boys the opportunity to experience a non-curricular learning day with a focus on non-traditional career choices • Hosting over 23 alumni events across the GTA, Canada and the world • A particular highlight was welcoming over 220 alumni back to campus in May 2019 to celebrate the milestone reunions of classes ending in 4 and 9. This was our biggest Alumni Reunion to date • Continued success and positive feedback with the completely revamped design of Past & Present magazine • Working with our most recent Class of 2019 in raising just over $1,000 (and meeting their goal) in support of the refurbishment of the fish tank near the Science Labs • Partnering with some incredible employers for our young alumni and giving them a chance at a meaningful summer employment through the Alumni Internship Program • Seeing a number of our reunion classes raise funds in honour of their reunion and collectively raising $210,000 in new pledge commitments, largely in support of student financial aid • Continuing to build alumni engagement through our platform, Graduway, which offers our alumni community complete access to one another to facilitate meaningful connections • Pairing up 81 of our 89 Class of 2019 graduates with a mentor throughout University Mentoring Program. I want to take this opportunity to offer my thanks, on behalf of the Alumni Executive Committee, to the Advancement Office for their great work and support throughout 2018/19. In particular, I’d like to thank Kathryn Foster and Leslie Pringle, who work tirelessly on our behalf. This was my third and final year serving the alumni community as Chair. I am passing the reins to Tim Watson ’01, and wish him well in his new role. I have immensely enjoyed my term as Chair and know that I am leaving The Alumni Executive in excellent hands. Sincerely, Jamie Coulter ’87 P’21 Chair, Crescent Alumni Executive, and Vice Chair, Board of Governors

As at June 30, 2019, The Crescent School Foundation achieved a year-end value of $15.8 million, its highest year-end closing ever. The increase of $1.45 million from the previous fiscal year is due to new donations and market gains. New donations were directed towards Student Financial Aid, Health & Wellbeing, Headmaster’s Discretionary Fund, Robotics and Technology, Crescent Student Services, as well as Local and International Outreach. I’d like to offer a special thank you to the graduates and parents of the Class of 2019 who established The Class of 2019 Scholarship in honour of the boys’ graduation. The parents set a goal of $50,000 which was to be matched by a set of parents within the class. The total amount raised, including the match, was almost $106,000, the highest ever for the graduating class gift program. In FY 2018/19, The Foundation disbursed over $596,000 in support of various School programs with approximately 67% directed by our generous donors in support of needs-based Student Financial Aid. This annual disbursement continues in perpetuity ensuring critical funding to key programmatic areas that directly benefit our boys. The Foundation’s Directors review quarterly and annual financials, and establish and review investment and disbursement policies. In addition, the Foundation Board conducts annual reviews of the firms we employ to manage the endowment, in an effort to preserve and grow the Foundation’s assets in the long term. Your donations are incredibly important to ensure the sustainability of the School’s programs and we take our stewardship responsibility in this regard very seriously. We hope we will continue to receive your trust and confidence in the years ahead. As always, I encourage you to consider supporting The Foundation and, in particular, Student Financial Aid. All donations receive a charitable gift receipt from The Crescent School Foundation for tax purposes. I’d like to thank the Advancement and Finance Offices at Crescent School for their hard work on behalf of The Foundation, and my fellow Directors for their hard work, diligence and commitment to preserving and growing the endowment. Sincerely, Rita Caporiccio P’17, ’20 Chair, The Crescent School Foundation

A MESSAGE FROM GEORGE MAVROUDIS P’18, ’26 CHAIR OF THE DEVELOPEMENT COMMITTEE
While tuition covers the cost of fundamental school operations, it is the generosity of giving through charitable gifts that provide the much-needed support for new facilities, enhancements to our signature academic programs and additional funds for Student Financial Aid. I am truly proud of the rich heritage of generosity that has existed at Crescent School, for decades, in support of our sons’ educational experience. All of the facilities on campus that our boys benefit from each and every day are the direct result of the generosity of current and past parents, alumni and grandparents. They have supported the School to ensure we can evolve with the changing needs of a future Crescent education. I feel deeply that it is the responsibility of every generation of Crescent families to do the same, and support the School for current AND future boys of promise. Our Parent Annual Giving program, which raised over $1.26 million in 2018/19, with 72% participation, is the most successful program of its kind among our peer schools in the GTA. Last year, funds from Parent Annual Giving supported Board-approved initiatives which are not covered by tuition such as the Master Campus Plan and Student Financial Aid. Our community continues to be generous, resulting in over $5.36 million in new pledge commitments in 2018/19. At this time, the majority of our major gift fundraising is directed towards needs-based Student Financial Aid and Capital Projects, which relates directly to the School’s current 2015-2020 Strategic Plan. Of note are recent major gift commitments in support of student Health & Wellbeing and the tremendous success of our 2019 Alumni Reunion fundraising program which saw the Class of ’89 raise $154,000, the Class of ’99 raise $41,000, the Class of ’09 raise $10,000 and the Class of 2014 raise $5,600 largely in support of Student Financial Aid. I am so very proud to be part of the Crescent School family, which year after year, continues to inspire me with its generosity, encouragement, commitment and love for this School. I am also privileged to serve on the Board of Governors and as Chair of the Development Committee, both of which are comprised of committed and hard-working volunteers, and I thank each of them for their efforts over the last year. Sincerely, George Mavroudis P’18, ’26 Chair, Development Committee, and Governor
