I want to offer my personal thanks for the support you gave to me in my first year as Headmaster. I appreciated the opportunity to connect with current and past parents, alumni from around the world, faculty and staff, grandparents and friends. Your kind words of advice, encouragement and feedback truly helped me and made this past year one of the best in my professional life. Boys’ education is truly important to me and to our Board. At Crescent, our vision is to provide our Boys of Promise with the support they need to become outstanding, courageous young Men of Character. Men who have the strength of character and love of knowledge to be successful lifelong learners who will make a positive impact on this ever-changing world. Thank you to all who contributed to the Great Boys campaign since its inception in Fall 2009. Thousands of members of our community have made gifts and pledges to our Annual Giving program, or made leadership-level commitments. I am honoured by your generous spirit and humbled by your strength in numbers. You have given readily and generously – and some of you frequently – allowing us to fund and build Innes Field, the Lau Family Wing, the Margaret Donnelly Lower School Library, and most recently the Latifi Family Commons and the Middle and Upper School Library. These physical additions to our campus are stunning. Even more important is the amazing teaching and learning that is happening within these spaces. This growth in the infrastructure at Crescent over the past six years is unprecedented in our School’s history, and so many members of our Crescent family have made this possible. You believed in our vision. Your generous support has provided outstanding opportunities for your boys to learn and grow today and for years to come. Of course, the entire Crescent School community owes a debt of gratitude to our former Headmaster, Geoff Roberts, and our intrepid Great Boys Campaign Co-Chairs, Barb Black P’08, ’10, ’14 and Paul Tompkins P’10, ’12, ’13. Their tremendous individual and collective hard work ensured the success of the campaign. Great Boys provides Crescent a wonderful foundation upon which to build as we move forward with a new Strategic Plan and vision for the future. I look forward to many more wonderful years working alongside this tremendously supportive community. Michael Fellin P’24 Headmaster

Our job in the Advancement Office at Crescent School is twofold: to make friends and raise funds, always in that order. We support Crescent’s mission, Men of Character from Boys of Promise, through a multitude of alumni programs and fundraising initiatives for our graduates, current and past parents, grandparents, students, faculty and staff, and friends. This report accounts for gifts made from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. As always, we sincerely thank each and every donor who made a financial contribution to the School during this period. You make us a better institution, and we are very grateful. Highlights from the 2014/2015 fiscal year include: • $3.3 million pledged in new commitments to the School • O ver $1 million pledged in support of Annual Giving, including many double up and triple up commitments from current parents
• 82 Crescent families pledged commitments ranging from $100,000 to $5 million
• O ver the course of the Great Boys campaign: We raised over $3.9 million in funding to support both endowed and expendable needs-based Student Financial Aid
• T he Library and Latifi Family Commons project, the final capital initiative of the Great Boys campaign, is fully funded. The Latifi Family Commons opened to our Upper School students on September 2, 2014. We opened the Middle and Upper School Library for our boys on January 28, 2015 and officially to our entire community on March 4, 2015. Our success with the Great Boys campaign would not have been possible without the tireless work, support and dedication of Campaign Co-Chairs, Barb Black P’08, ’10, ’14 and Paul Tompkins P’10, ’12, ’13. The Crescent community owes Barb, Paul and our Development Committee a huge debt of gratitude for their dedication to the campaign, and we sincerely thank our volunteers for their leadership and generosity. Thank you for your continuing support of Crescent School! Sincerely, John Lynch P’16, ‘18 Executive Director, External Relations

I am proud to report that 2014/2015 was another successful year for the Crescent Alumni Executive and for the many and varied programs we offer to the alumni community we have the privilege of serving. I am honoured to work alongside a tremendous group of alumni who volunteer their time as part of the Alumni Executive and thank them for their tireless work on behalf of Crescent’s graduates, young and old. In both our 2008 and 2013 Alumni Surveys, a significant number of alumni told us that they are interested in financially supporting Crescent School particularly in the area of needsbased Student Financial Aid. Giving talented and deserving students, whose families could not otherwise afford some or all of tuition, the opportunity to have the Crescent education is something that we value. The surveys also helped us to better shape our Alumni Programs toward addressing the need for mentoring, networking and professional growth. Armed with that information, the Crescent Alumni Executive, along with the Advancement Office, developed three core programs: Alumni Mentoring Program – Crescent alumni are part of a network that is rich in diverse life experience. The Professional Mentoring Program offers our alumni personal and professional growth opportunities through connections with fellow alumni. There are over 200 alumni in our professional mentoring database representing a myriad of industries and expertise. Alumni Internship Program – An alumni-driven program that provides meaningful summer employment opportunities for university-aged alumni. To date, this program has assisted in placing over 40 young alumni, with many securing full-time employment as a direct result of their summer internships. By Alumni, For Alumni – This program’s goal is two-fold: to increase the number of alumni supporting Crescent School via charitable giving, and to increase the amount of needs-based Student Financial Aid available to deserving boys. In addition, the By Alumni, For Alumni initiative raises funds for needs-based Student Financial Aid with the preference for the sons of alumni with an aim of bringing more alumni back to campus as dads. The By Alumni, For Alumni Annual Giving program was launched in September 2014. Through general solicitations, Reunion Giving initiatives and our Graduating Class gift, alumni contributed over $180,000 in pledged support to Crescent’s Annual Giving program, largely toward needs-based Student Financial Aid. I’d especially like to thank the members of the Classes of ’85, ’92 and ’15 for their good work in growing their class funds in the past year. I thank those alumni who supported their school in FY 2014/2015. I want to take this opportunity to offer my thanks, on behalf of the Alumni Executive Committee, to the Advancement Office, and in particular, Kathryn Foster, for their great work and support throughout 2014/2015. Sincerely, Rob Watt ’85, P’14 Chair, Crescent Alumni Executive

As at June 30, 2015, The Crescent School Foundation achieved a year-end value of $10.2 million, its highest year-end closing ever. Surpassing the $10 million mark is a milestone we are happy to report and celebrate. This increase of almost $1.2 million from the previous fiscal year is due in part to over $865,000 in new donations and market gains. New donations were directed towards a number of Great Boys campaign priorities, including Student Financial Aid, Robotics and Technology, Crescent Student Services and International Outreach, and as well as toward several other endowed funds supporting Prize Day awards, Local Outreach and Music. I’d like to offer a special thank-you to the students and parents of the Class of 2015 who established The Class of 2015 Bursary Fund in support of needs-based Student Financial Aid. This endowed bursary was established with over $45,000 committed before the end of the 2014/2015 fiscal year. Annually, the Foundation distributes funds to support various School programs in perpetuity. The Foundation’s annual disbursement supports Local and International Outreach, Student Financial Aid scholarships and bursaries, Robotics and Technology, Crescent Student Services, Leadership in Sports, Mathematics, Athletics and Music. The Foundation’s Directors review quarterly and annual financials, and establish and review investment and disbursement policies, as well as the firms we employ to manage Foundation funds, in an effort to preserve and grow the Foundation’s assets in the long term. The money donated by individuals is very important to us, and we take our responsibilities very seriously. We hope we will continue to receive your trust and confidence in the years ahead. As always, I encourage you to consider supporting the Foundation and, in particular, Student Financial Aid. All donations receive a charitable gift receipt from The Crescent School Foundation, for tax purposes. I’d like to thank the Advancement and Finances Offices at Crescent School for their hard work on behalf of The Foundation. I would also like to thank retiring Director, Nancy MacKellar P’07, for her 8.5 years of service, including three years as Chair. The Foundation will miss her sharp mind, her attention to detail, her keen business sense and her great sense of humour. This was my last year as Chair of the Foundation. I have passed the reigns to our Vice Chair, Vijay Parmar P’18, and wish him well in his new role. I have immensely enjoyed my term as Chair and know that I am leaving The Foundation Board in excellent hands. Sincerely, Barry Gordon ’87, P’21 Chair, The Crescent School Foundation

Thank you, thank you, thank you! 2014/2015 was another great year of philanthropic support from the Crescent School community for the Great Boys campaign. We raised $3.3 million in new commitments and officially opened both the Latifi Family Commons and the Middle and Upper School Library. We are very grateful to the many members of the Crescent community for joining us in financially supporting the transformative initiatives of the Great Boys campaign through their leadership-level support. Collectively, we have helped the School make its vision a reality. As has been the case since the campaign launched in 2010, major gifts are a key component to the success of Great Boys thus far. In addition, we also owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the vast majority of Crescent parents who faithfully support the Parent Annual Giving program every year. Many families continue to double or triple their contributions for each son, and we are particularly grateful for their strong support. Parents consistently contribute over $1 million each year via the Parent Annual Giving program. Over the lifetime of the Great Boys campaign, Annual Giving has contributed more than $5 million toward our $30 million goal. While tuition covers the cost of school operations, charitable gifts are what provide the much-needed support for new facilities, enhancements to our signature academic programs and additional funds for Student Financial Aid. We are truly proud of the rich heritage of generosity that exists at our School. It is this generosity that has helped to fund Great Boys’ campaign priorities including Innes Field, the Lau Family Wing, the Margaret Donnelly Lower School Library, the Latifi Family Commons, the Middle and Upper School Library AND our four programmatic initiatives for International Outreach, Robotics & Technology, Crescent Student Services and Student Financial Aid. By June 30, 2015, the Great Boys campaign had raised over $34,000,000, surpassing our goal. We are so proud to be part of the Crescent School family, which year after year, continues to inspire us with its generosity, encouragement, commitment and love for this School – our school. Sincerely, Barb Black P’08, ’10, ’14 and Paul Tompkins P’10, ’12, ’13
