1 History
We at PAKHUIS OOST like to surround ourselves with beautiful products that brighten our day and are produced with a clear conscience.

Now, after 15 years in business, PAKHUIS OOST is moving in yet another new direction. The kids are growing into teenagers and the PAKHUIS OOST collection is growing with them. The new collection includes products for teens and adults, each and every product still carrying that same PAKHUIS OOST feeling within.

hat was a holiday in Thailand became the start of PAKHUIS OOST. The first items imported were the woven baskets, Thai alphabet table and metal stools. Following trips were spent trying to find local products and producers throughout Thailand and Vietnam. After a few years, we decided to focus on designing our own products with the PAKHUIS OOST feel. Having children of our own helped us identify and develop products that bring joy to parents and children.

Woven basket
made by a group of Thai women whose husbands were policemen. They produced these for the local farmers.
Producing with a clear conscience
Apple coatrack, produced by Nhan. In the 12 years we have worked with him, Nhan has turned his workshop into a safe and environmentally friendly one.

Wall light deer.

In all our products, the human touch is visible. In this case, the sequins are glued on by hand. The deer are produced by Vietnamese women who combine household and work at home.

This soft pistol is also made by home workers. Many of these home workers are disabled and can not find a regular job. Working at home allows them to provide for their children.
A
s a person, I love nature and people. That’s why I have always worked with a clear conscience. There really is no alternative as far as I’m concerned. Over a dozen years ago, PAKHUIS OOST opened its Vietnam office. This helps us maintain close relationships with our suppliers, many of whom have been with us for over a decade. I am proud to say that there is a mutual respect for one another and one’s difficulties in making things run smoothly. It led PAKHUIS OOST to helping our suppliers to buy new machinery and finding ways to make better and cleaner products. Whenever possible, we try to include the more vulnerable parts of society in our production plans. As a result, we frequently work with disabled people and farmers in need. It is something we never mention on our packaging, because we believe kindness should not be commercialized. PAKHUIS OOST just wants happier days for everyone. ~ Marc Craane, owner Pakhuis Oost

Paper bowls
This dual-layered material – paper on the outside, woven polyester on the inside – is used in the food industry to make large rice bags.

Leather plane play pillow Made of leather from locally bred cows. Due to its cuddliness and durability, guaranteed to be passed down for generations.

Hand cut out of wood from a rubber tree. Each one is silkscreened separately, like a piece of art.

Ideal for use as a recycling bin. Or to carry and keep your fire wood in, as it is very strong indeed!
his is the latest addition to the PAKHUIS OOST collection: a product line that is closer to nature. Take rubber wood, for example. It is environment friendly and the wood is only used after the tree has stopped producing natural rubber. Rubber wood is advised by Greenpeace, among others. We also consider the environment: the cow leather we use comes from cattle bred near the workshops. We at PAKHUIS OOST do not only want to work environment friendly, we also want to make fine and beautiful items. The rubber wood items are hand cut and silk screen printed by hand with a European environment friendly paint. Most of our products are handmade because we love the human touch.
