The world championships has been postponed a couple of times due to COVID-19. So, I’m very, very pleased to finally be able to say: Welcome to the international badminton championship: TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020!
The TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020 is one of the world’s most prestigious international badminton events, and on behalf of the City of Aarhus, I’d like to say how proud we are to be the very first Danish host of this world-class sporting event. In fact, this is the first time in 39 years the cup will be held in Europe.
We’ve been eagerly looking forward to hosting the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020 at the Ceres Park & Arena Aarhus – and to contributing to Denmark’s proud tradition of excellence in badminton.
There will be international badminton stars from all over the world at the championship, including Anders Antonsen, who was born and bred right here in Aarhus, and still plays for the local club Aarhus AB.
The TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2020 is also a great opportunity for us to show the world what a welcoming and exciting destination Aarhus is. In Denmark, Aarhus is known as ‘the city of smiles’, and as Denmark’s second-largest city, Aarhus has something to do and see for everyone. You’ll find New Nordic gourmet restaurants as well as informal bistros and cafes. You can combine great shopping in our historical downtown with world-class culture and nightlife. And you won’t want to miss our flagship museums: ARoS, Den Gamle By and Moesgaard Museum.
