In tonight’s midseason premiere, “Say Hello to Your Past,” Magnum and Higgins (Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks) launch a frantic search for Kumu (Amy Hill) after she is kidnapped.

9 p.m. on KVPT Somewhere South In a mouth-watering new episode called “Dumpling Dilemma,” host Vivian Howard’s trip to the Mississippi Delta and farther south soon turns up evidence proving that not all dumplings are the same. Tracey Ullman stars in “Mrs. America,” premiering Wednesday on FX on Hulu.

‘Mrs. America’ recalls the roots of the feminist movement Such names as Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan and Phyllis Schlafly have very particular places in U.S. social history.

Those women played various roles in regard to the Equal Rights Amendment, which the famously conservative Schlafly opposed while making a bid for a House of Representatives seat as the 1970s began. She had a major opponent in author and activist Friedan, one of the principal feminists of the era – and that battleground is dramatized in “Mrs. America,” which debuts by streaming the first three of its nine episodes Wednesday, April 15, on FX on Hulu.

Also an executive producer of the project, Oscar winner Cate Blanchett stars as Schlafly, with Emmy recipient Tracey Ullman and Rose Byrne respectively playing Friedan and Steinem. With Emmy winner Margo Martindale (“The Americans”) and Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black”) as politicians Bella Abzug and Shirley Chisholm, the cast of “Mrs. America” also includes Sarah Paulson, Elizabeth Banks, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Melanie Lynskey, Ari Graynor and John Slattery (“Mad Men”).

“Phyllis herself didn’t initially have an issue with the Equal Rights Amendment,” Blanchett maintains.

“She thought it was a piece of fairly innocuous political business, and her primary focus was defense. That was her passion; that was her area of research

and her focus. It wasn’t really until – as described in our series – her friend Alice (played by Paulson) turned her on to what were called ‘the dangers of the ERA’ that meant that women could be drafted. I think it was through the concept of its impact it would have, from her perspective, on the military that she got involved.”

As the piece’s Friedan, Ullman reports that “it was really hard to get this role.

I did really want to be a part of this. I started as a dramatic actress in theater and (since), of course, I have done lots of comedy shows – but I’ve always portrayed real people, real heart. I like the poignancy and reality and sadness of people, and I’ve been in America for 30 years. I know people like Betty Friedan. It struck me how incredible it was to write a book like (Friedan’s) ‘The Feminine Mystique’ in 1963.”

The makers of “Mrs. America” also include veteran studio executive Stacey Sher and “Captain Marvel” filmmaking partners Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

The latter duo directed the limited series’ first two episodes, and Boden reasons, “I don’t think any of the actors in the cast did an impersonation. They did a lot of research, and they’re all like the most studious actors I’ve ever worked with. They put us to shame ... in terms of how they tried to embody the characters and their complexities.”

“A community is a group of people who have come together, and they work and they live to try and improve the standard of living and quality of life - and I don’t mean money.”

but with a musical twist?’ Though it has a familiar feel, you’re not used to seeing this.”

With the scheduled mid-May debut of “The Bachelorette’s” new season likely to be delayed, since the start of production on it also has been, Harrison thinks “Listen to Your Heart” might serve a purpose of interconnection when social distancing is being advised strongly.

“Whether you love it or hate it, ‘The Bachelor’ is something that brings this country together,” he reasons. “It’s something you want to be a part of, and it’s kind of a phenomenon we need right now. It’s a social event that gives people a way to go out without going out.”

At a time when fresh television has slowed considerably, leave it to “The Bachelor” to offer something new.

Premiering Monday, April 13, ABC’s “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart” is what franchise staple Chris Harrison – who’s both the host and a producer of the new show – likes to call “ ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ meets ‘A Star Is Born.’ ” Participants are teamed with the goal of their making beautiful music together in more ways than one, since to “win,” they have to succeed with both love and lyrics.

“We really crushed it and forced ourselves to get it in,” the ever-pleasant Harrison says of having “Listen to Your Heart” completed before current world conditions had an impact on everything including TV scheduling. “We’re going to squeeze as much out of it as we can. We make even try to pull more content out of what we already shot, so it’s a bonus for employees who can do a lot of things from home – and also for Bachelor Nation (the franchise’s fan base), which is starving for any new content.”

The inspiration for “Listen to Your Heart,” Harrison explains, was last year’s performance of “Shallow” by “A Star Is Born” stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga at last year’s Oscars. “You thought, ‘That chemistry can’t be faked. That is real.’ And we thought, ‘Could we do this? A ‘Bachelor’ show that’s still about relationships and love,

“Supernatural,” expected to resume the final episodes of its 15-season run later this year. (It also repeats on TNT.) Yet another movie remake made by Padalecki, during a hiatus from the show, was “Friday the 13th.”

Once “Supernatural” ends, Padalecki is slated to return to The CW soon afterward: He’s been cast in the title role of a reboot of the Chuck Norris action series “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

Working on “Supernatural” proved beneficial to Padalecki’s social life, since he met guest star Genevieve Cortese during the fourth season and eventually proposed to her at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. They now have two sons and a daughter, and the family lives in Austin, Texas (where Padalecki owns the bar Stereotype).

Padalecki is the founder of Always Keep Fighting, a campaign that supports organizations that help those dealing with such matters as depression and addiction. To raise funds, he and fellow “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles pictured themselves on a shirt that reportedly has racked up sales of more than 100,000 shirts to date.

Jared Tristan Padalecki was born on July 19, 1982, in San Antonio. A highlight of his high-school years was being half of the team that won the national forensic league championship in Duo Interpretation.

Though Padalecki intended on furthering his education at the University of Texas, he chose instead to move to Los Angeles to become an actor. It didn’t take long for him to get going, since after winning a “Claim to Fame” contest staged by the Fox network, he attracted an agent’s interest at the Teen Choice Awards.

Padalecki’s first significant role lasted a while, since he played Dean Forester on the series “Gilmore Girls.” During that time, he also was featured in the movie remake of “Cheaper by the Dozen” opposite friend Tom Welling (“Smallville”), whose role in the film he originally had pursued.

After appearing in the update of “Flight of the Phoenix,” Padalecki costarred in another remake, “House of Wax.” That was released in 2005, when he started a job that has lasted ever since ... the part of Sam Winchester on The CW’s

OF ‘INSECURE’ ON HBO How do you think the comedy on “Insecure” has changed over four seasons?

What’s your take on how World War II is depicted by “World on Fire on Masterpiece”?

I think in writing the show, obviously we write jokes in there but, since the inception, I never wanted to feel like it was a traditional sitcom where every line was a joke. You still want the dialogue to feel naturalistic. There’s that element.

And ... it is more about the situational; the situational element and the situational side of things. But I think we haven’t changed the way we approach comedy in the show over the course of four seasons.

Normal life went on a lot of the time, and certain priorities shifted, and others didn’t. What was interesting for me was learning about how people of our age, and of our generation, went through this war and how it changed them – because it was such extreme times for all of them. They were all kids, and they were all growing up, and they were all going through the kinds of things that we go through now of friendship and heartbreak and falling in love and making these terrible mistakes.

But the stakes are so high.

Is there more pressure now to create in this environment where you have so much support and love? Does that influence how you approach the writing?

And beyond that, I think the other feedback – the instant feedback can be daunting, but it’s just like it’s part of it. That’s the culture that we’re in currently and all you can do is just continue to create and stay true to your story.

What do you make of the love triangle that your “World on Fire” character Harry is enmeshed in?

It was a really interesting and very challenging aspect of the role, because on the surface, I found it very difficult to understand. It’s not a position I’ve ever been in. When you’re building a character, you’re trying to make sense of someone and understand their actions and their feelings and sympathize and empathize, and I was finding that very difficult.

But that really encouraged me to dig deeper into his psyche and to look at his upbringing and how that might have affected him, because someone that falls in love with two people – aside from the fact that they’re both very bright, wonderful, charismatic people – it speaks to me that someone that is capable of doing that perhaps doesn’t know himself fully.

Why did you end “A Chef’s Life” and begin “Somewhere South”?

What surprised you while doing the new show?

So much. I mean, I love history and I love learning how the food traditions we have here in the South were shaped by the South itself and the terrain and how we shape those food traditions and what we bring with us. Like the pepperoni roll, for instance, is a very important dish in West Virginia and really the origins of it are in Italy.

And that’s one of the things that always surprised me in “A Chef’s Life,” is how much of that was in my own backyard. You know, collard kraut, which was clearly something that Eastern European settlers brought ... fermented collards, yes, but in the tradition of sauerkraut. And people didn’t see the cabbage that they recognized so they made it with collards, which were brought here by Africans. And so all of those connections were incredibly surprising and just really invigorating

Well you know, we had made five seasons and two specials of “A Chef’s Life” and my interest as a professional had really evolved and my work in general has evolved, and I wanted to reflect that in the show and also show the South for the multicultural microcosm of the rest of the country that it is. And so I felt like we could just tell a deeper story about the food traditions of the American South. I also wanted my personal life to be less a part of it.

It really was just fascinating, reading some stories about teenagers and people in their early 20s at that time ... and the every-day juxtaposed with these very extreme and urgent experiences that they were going through as well.

We talk about that all the time and Prentice (Penny, an executive producer) and I are really clear about shutting out the outside world in the writers’ room. ... But I think – initially I was like, what is all this, what is all this pressure? But then someone told me like, “No, people really view your show as realistic and they see themselves in these characters and so when they don’t see a condom present, they’re just like, ”Oh, I wouldn’t do that,“ and it takes you out the story. And I think that’s, for me, what alarmed me was like, oh, if it’s taking you out the story, then I don’t want that and so let’s make sure that our viewers stay engaged.

Eat and travel vicariously with Food Network and Cooking Channel In this time of social distancing, you’ve no doubt sacrificed.

You may have canceled a spring vacation, stopped going out to eat and/or generally avoided crowds, all in the interest of the greater good. As a result, television has become an even bigger part of your life as well as a safe haven.

Toward that end, Cooking Channel and Food Network have a bevy of programming coming up this week for those who like to travel and eat. So tune in, hunker down and live vicariously through their on-air personalities as they search the country for new culinary frontiers.

Chief among them is Andrew Zimmern, who on his Sunday, April 12, edition of Cooking’s “Bizarre Foods America,” heads to Miami to check out a foodie scene heavily influenced by old world immigrants and new wave trendsetters, as he stops in at iconic establishments and hidden gems throughout the city. Shining cuisine in the city of sunshine.

Tuesday, April 14, on Cooking, the scene is Washington, D.C., on “Man V. Food” as host Casey Webb explores a political culinary institution, samples a Korean fried masterpiece and sets his sights on a challenge that consists of 3.5 pounds of burger and fries. Pass the antacid, please.

Zimmern is back on the road in the Wednesday, April 15, episode of “Delicious Destinations,” this time in Hollywood, where he explores its legendary hot spots and culinary diversity, and samples dishes ranging from the classic steak and martinis and Thai steamed whole fish to Armenian flatbread topped with minced beef and Persian ice cream.

Over on Food Network on Thursday, April 16, it’s “The Great Food Truck Race: Gold Coast,” which brings host Tyler Florence to Las Vegas, where the four remaining food trucks in the competition are tasked with an in-suite dining challenge on the Strip.

Immediately following on “Vegas Chef Prizefight: Opening Night,” the winner of the series’ first season begins the job of a lifetime as head chef of a new $10 million restaurant on the Strip and its staff readies for the grand opening.

Friday, April 17, on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Guy Fieri hits the road to meet chefs who are putting their roots on their menus. Among the offerings are a blackened chicken pasta and a marrow butter burger in Logan, Utah; Israeli cuisine with a vegan spin in Portland, Ore.; and a Denver establishment that specializes in Detroitstyle pizza and features a new take on fries.
