It’s been one of the great questions since “Better Call Saul” premiered in 2015: When will Bob Odenkirk’s con artist-turned-small-time Albuquerque lawyer Jimmy McGill make the transition to criminal-for-hire Saul Goodman from “Breaking Bad”?

And the answer is: It starts in Season 5 and ends with a series-concluding Season 6. This according to the producers of the AMC drama.

Kicking off with a two-night premiere event Sunday and Monday, Feb. 23-24, the 10-episode fifth season of the “Breaking Bad” prequel finds Jimmy’s decision to practice law as “Saul Goodman” – a play on the phrase “It’s all good, man” – creating unexpected and profound waves of change for those in his orbit, including fellow lawyer, girlfriend and confidante Kim (Rhea Seehorn), private investigator and cleaner Mike (Jonathan Banks), law-firm partner Howard (Patrick Fabian) and meth distributor Gus (Giancarlo Esposito).

That’s about all the information available about the upcoming season, though Odenkirk did admit to a recent gathering of journalists in Pasadena, Calif., “I do feel like we go faster in Season 5. More happens, it’s a bigger season. ... The snowball is coming down the mountain and breaking up.”

Adds co-creator and showrunner Peter Gould, “During the breaking of Season 5 ... I think the fog started to lift a little bit,” he says. “The Bob Odenkirk and headlights started to reach that much further down the road. We started to Rhea Seehorn see where we think it ends, and I have to say none of it is what I would’ve expected when we started. So, I’ll leave it at that ... . But the end of it, I think, when this season is over, I think you’ll have a better understanding of kind of where this is all going.”

One thing that is certain about Season 5 is the romance between Jimmy and Kim will continue and intensify. A scene early in Season 5 teases what may happen in that relationship, showing two people who are clearly in love standing in a kitchen and bantering.

“A lot of people ask, ‘What does Kim see in Jimmy?’ ” Odenkirk says.

“And a scene like that tells you a lot about the two of them just liking each other, liking hanging out together.”

“And what he brings out in her,” Seehorn adds, “... Kim is witty and they have witty repartee often, but she’s not a performer the way he is, and so it is nerve-racking for her to be vulnerable in that moment. If you’ve ever tried to be funny in front of someone that’s very funny, then it can be very vulnerable.

And she tries, and he sees her trying, and I think that it is ... a scene about being in love with each other.”

“Better Call Saul” goes into production this month for Season 6, which will air in 2021.

If there hadn’t been “American Idol� first, there might not be “The Voice� ... and they’re up against each other more than usual now.

Usually, the spring season of NBC’s “The Voice� is well under way by the time “American Idol� – now on ABC after its originating years on Fox – returns for a new round, but not so this winter. The Sunday “Idol’s� third ABC season will have gotten a one-week jump on “The Voice� when the latter singing contest starts its 18th cycle Monday, Feb. 24, and even if they aren’t same-night rivals at the beginning, don’t rule that out: Each show is known to add special episodes on different nights, so the contests could end up with a direct competition of their own before long.

One factor that the Emmy-winning “The Voice� has this time is a new celebrity coach: Nick Jonas, who is joining returnees Kelly Clarkson (the original “American Idol,� let it not be forgotten), John Legend and Blake Shelton in assembling teams of vocal hopefuls ... though only one of the entrants will end up as the new “Voice.�

Carson Daly, also a producer of the show, is back as the host.

Though “The Voice� only will be seen on Mondays early in its latest run, it will add Tuesdays in its final weeks for the live airings that set up the semifinals and finals.

Television would start to capture the bulk of Highmore’s career attention in 2013, when he began his portrayal of Norman Bates – the Anthony Perkins role in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” – in the prequel series “Bates Motel,” which earned him a People’s Choice Award and also saw him write two episodes and direct one during the show’s four-season run.

Currently, Highmore is in his third season as autistic surgeon Shaun Murphy on the ABC drama series “The Good Doctor,” on which he has written and directed as well. He also is a producer of the show, which was developed from a South Korean series by actor Daniel Dae Kim (“Lost,” “Hawaii Five-0”).

With his main residence still in his native London, Highmore is known to avoid having any self-initiated presence on social media.

Alfred Thomas Highmore was born on Feb. 14, 1992, in Camden Town, London, England, to former actor Edward Highmore and talent agent Sue Latimer.

He has a younger brother, and “Freddie’s” education encompassed a scholarship to the independently operated Highgate School.

Highmore’s first major acting role was as the young King Arthur in the miniseries “The Mists of Avalon,” and in the same year (2001), he was featured in the BBC production “Happy Birthday Shakespeare.” Also that year, he appeared in TV’s “Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story,” with his real father playing his on-screen dad.

Family stories were big concerns for Highmore in 2004, when he starred in the movies “Two Brothers” and “Five Children and It.” That year, he also made “Finding Neverland” with Johnny Depp, earning him a Critics Choice Movie Award – and setting the stage for him to reunite with Depp the following year in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” which won Highmore the same award (plus a Satellite Award).

How did you and Al Pacino work out the character of Nazi hunter Meyer Offerman, whom you both played at different ages in Amazon’s “Hunters”? Did you coordinate performances?

As Turner Classic Movies’ annual “31 Days of Oscar” enters its final days, have you enjoyed being a host of this year’s format that connects two films featuring the same actor?

I’m always in awe of the TCM programming team, for many reasons – and, specifically with “31 Days of Oscar,” how they’re able to reinvent this very popular franchise year-in and year-out. I was bothering them for weeks: “What’s the premise this year? How’s it going to be organized?” Then they sent me the list, and I just think it’s brilliant.

It’s a good question. The truth is I didn’t have the advantage of seeing what he was going to do before I did my work. And I really just invested in playing Meyer in his thirties as honestly and as truthfully as I could and was confident that the rest of it would work itself out. So I didn’t necessarily invest a lot of energy into trying to match Pacino’s performance mostly because I didn’t have access to it. I didn’t see him shooting, I didn’t get to watch the footage. You know, it was all kind of happening in real time and he was shooting in one place while I was shooting somewhere else.

So like I said, I just invested all of my energy in playing the character as honestly as possible.

“Laura” is the gateway classic film for me. That was the movie that really opened my eyes, as a child of the ‘80s who grew up on John Hughes movies, to a completely different kind of cinematic experience. Whenever I get to introduce “Laura” (which Karger will do on March 2, the final day of “31 Days of Oscar”), I’m very happy ... but specifically because I get to do it during the Oscar month, that’s very exciting for me.

Did you get to meet or see him at all?

Do you have a desire to incorporate mentions of the latest Oscar nominees into your introductions of the classics?

We all know the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” game, and this is “360 Degrees of Oscar,” because that’s basically how many stars we are using throughout the month. And without a repeat!

Of the movies still left in the event, are there any that stand out for you as personal favorites?

If there’s a statistic from recent years that’s related to one of the movies I’m talking about, by all means, I’m going to bring it up. I’m all for connecting older films and current films whenever possible. I’ve done interviews for TCM with people like George Clooney and Gary Oldman and Bradley Cooper, and I love to hear which classic films inspired the films they’re working on right now.

What is the funnest part of playing Agatha Raisin?

I don’t think my knees would cope but I love doing it. I do love a new challenge, and we had a wonderful choreographer. He worked with actors and he knows that actors are actors and not dancers, so he was very open and very relaxed with that. But it was great, it was really good fun to do but I take my hat off to dancers. It’s an 17 amazing discipline to be able to have. 17

But also the ensemble cast is just so fun be partnered up with. I have a different kind of partner in crime for every episode ... . So you get to almost play with all the other characters at some point. And we’re kind of evolving the show into sort of something that there is a fair amount of physical comedy, and I get quite excited about doing a bit of physical comedy.

You danced the tango in “The Deadly Dance.” How are you as a dancer?

What I love about her is basically she’s very different to me. I think that Agatha doesn’t take no for an answer.

She bullies her way into any situation and pretty much gets what she wants, and it’s always a joy to play somebody that’s a bit like that and is not like you.

Her costumes are sublime. I love doing a costume shot for the character. I always think it’s important when you’re playing a TV detective to always have a silhouette or something that’s very identifiable ... the lips and the handbag

Comfort food therapy for the winterravaged soul, courtesy of Food Network Welcome to the dead of winter, a time when the full forces of cabin fever are bearing down on your psyche and rendering you a semicatatonic, forlorn mess.

What to do? Going someplace warm always helps, provided your schedule and funds allow.

You can always take up an outdoor sport like skiing or skating but there’s no guarantee you won’t break something. And let’s not get started with drinking your way out of it – fighting the blues with a depressant just makes no sense.

Yes, getting out of this funk won’t be easy but there may be an answer in comfort food therapy. Toward that end, a block of programming coming up Sunday, Feb. 23, on Food Network gives you a few ideas to help dispatch this annual cold weather interloper.

It starts bright and early with “Brunch at Bobby’s,” in which chef Bobby Flay serves up a breakfast of churro French toast, cinnamon bun pancakes and bacon-cheddar twists with soft-cooked eggs. Sweet and substantial.

A little later on “Valerie’s Home Cooking,” host Valerie Bertinelli puts a Latin spin on comfort food, preparing a Cubano salad, Cuban sandwiches and a spicy black bean soup, all washed down with grapefruit mojitos.

And for dessert, it’s a tropical sundae.

Ree Drummond has her own take on comfort food on “Pioneer Woman” in midmorning, as she rolls out a spread that includes a tuna noodle casserole, meatballs in sweet and

sour sauce, glazed apple dumplings and Welsh rarebit. Yum. In late morning, Molly Yeh makes her mostprized Midwestern comfort foods with a twist on “Girl Meets Farm,” a menu that consists of knoephla soup (a traditional German dish consisting of boullion, potatoes and milk) with chewy dumplings, sticky ribs and a side of sweet, tangy broccoli slaw with plump currants and a dessert of red velvet snow balls with cream cheese filling.

At midday on “Delicious Miss Brown,” host Kardea Brown cooks up comfort food Carolina style, with a dinner of beef and okra stew with sweet potatoes topped with roasted marshmallows. And for dessert, she offers up caramel apple cake and warm spiced apple cider. Warmth for body and soul.

And a veritable cornucopia of comfort food is on tap in an episode of “The Kitchen” titled “Award-Winning Comfort Food,” which features Sunny Anderson’s “crazy rich” fried chicken and waffle skewers, Katie Lee’s creamy pimento cheese fondue, Jeff Mauro’s gourmet mac and cheese, and Geoffrey Zakarian’s loaded bacon truffle and chive baked potatoes.

Smitty’s Smokin Brisket & BBQ’s (2811 N. Chester Ave.) brisket sandwich was smoked for 16 hours using hickory wood and their signature rub, which proves they’re pretty passionate about barbecue. Their brisket sandwich was served between a bolillo roll and two thick and tender slices of their juiciest brisket. It’s served with a side of barbecue sauce and two choices of sides, mac ’n’ cheese and green beans topped with in-house-smoked bacon.

Champs’ (35315 Merle Haggard Drive) tri-tip plate comes with a choice of two sides, mac ’n’ cheese, green beans and a side of cornbread all for $13.50.

Champs serves a variety of barbecued meat, like pulled pork, pit beef, smoked chicken and hot links.

The angus cherrywood-smoked tri-tip was cooked medium and served as tender, soft strips of meat. Eat it alongside their signature sauce, leaving a sweet yet spicy tang in your mouth.

Salty’s BBQ & Catering (6801 White Lane and 9425 Rosedale Highway) pulled pork sandwich was slow cooked and slabbed between a toasted garlic and buttery Pyrenees roll.
