James Madison University Class of 2015

It’s hard to walk away from a winning class Class of 2015 Ring Collection

Dear JMU Class of 2015, Even though we are only a few semesters into our journey at JMU, what a great few semesters they have been. From football games in a new stadium, to a new university president, and now we are ordering our college rings. Our class has experienced so much at a place many of us now consider a second home. The incredible memories and friendships we have made at James Madison University will stay with us for many years to come. In my time here, the atmosphere of scholarship, tradition, and kindness that I have encountered has blown me away. I am sure that almost all of you have experienced doors being held open for you and smiles from kind strangers. We are so lucky to attend a university where these types of interactions are a daily norm, and where every Duke feels a sense of camaraderie. It has been an honor serving a class as outstanding as ours, and an even bigger honor planning our Ring Premiere celebration and class ring design with the rest of the Ring Premiere Committee. Our committee has been working diligently on the ring that will serve as a reminder to its wearer of the times they spent at JMU. We have had the opportunity to continue a JMU tradition: a class ring that we hope many of you will carry with you long after graduating from this amazing university. Each aspect of our ring is meaningful to our class, and our committee cannot wait to share these designs with you. With both a Class side and a University side on our ring, we hope we have captured some of our favorite moments, traditions, and places at JMU. In closing, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding students who make up our Ring Premiere Committee. Thank you for the hard work and countless hours you have put in over the past few months, and the work you will continue to do for our Ring Ceremony in the Fall of 2013. Also a huge thank you to the entire Class of 2015 for shaping our Madison Experience, and making it such an honor to serve you. I challenge each of you to make these next two years at JMU memorable. We are so glad you could join us for our Ring Premiere celebration, and hope to see you again in the fall for our Ring Ceremony. Sincerely,

Lauren Holder Class of 2015 President

Dear Parents of the Class of 2015,

For the past few months I have been honored to work with a committee of talented students from the Class of 2015 to continue a JMU tradition of designing a class ring. JMU is unique because it is one of the few universities nationwide that designs a new class ring from year to year. Each graduating class at JMU receives the opportunity to design a class ring that embodies the spirit and traditions of the times they have cherished at our outstanding university. No other class embodies “The Madison Way more than the Class of 2015. From day one we have been a unique unit that continues to grow closer every day. I truly believe that the Ring Premiere Committee has captured the unforgettable moments and milestones that have taken place during our time spent at JMU thus far. From the earthquake during our August move-in freshman year, the farewell to our beloved President Rose, to the welcoming and inauguration of President Alger, the Class of 2015 has encountered an eventful past two years which are now symbolized on our class ring design. I hope your student decides to participate in the tradition of purchasing a class ring so that they will always be able to carry a reminder of the relationships, traditions and memories that they were bestowed with while attending James Madison University. In JMU spirit,

Molly Hoffmaster Class of 2015 Ring Premiere Chair

University Side Wilson Bell Tower

“The Madison Way”

Every day Wilson chimes the Alma Mater and the JMU fight song that can be heard throughout campus. The clock displays the time 2:45 representing the exit number that leads us back to the place we love.

The Madison Way”From holding doors open to spreading school spirit to greeting every Duke with a smile, these are just a few traits that exemplify the essence of a JMU student.

James Madison Statue

Rose

The statue of James Madison stands proudly on the quad to remind students of the inspiring and motivating man who serves as the university’s namesake.

With the conclusion of the 2012 school year we came to the end of The Rose Years. President Linwood Rose was the fifth president who served James Madison University from 1998 to 2012.

Train & 81

Quad

JMU is unique in that we are the only university with a railroad and a highway running through campus on the East coast. The student body comes from the North, South, East, and West to be united as one through the colors purple and gold.

The quad is central to the JMU community. It creates an atmosphere of unity among the students where we come together for sunny days, snowball fights, and JMU traditions. The overlapping walkways of the quad represent that no matter where life takes us we will always be connected by JMU.

Class Side

Bridgeforth Stadium

Mountains

During 1787 August Orientation, the Class of 2015 was the first class to attend an event in the brand new Bridgeforth Stadium. It is home to many spirited JMU traditions including Purple Out, throwing streamers while chanting the JMU fight song after a touchdown, and cheering “J-M-U Dukes!”

Upon arrival at JMU, the mountains welcomed us to our new home. The breathtaking scenery surrounding Harrisonburg can be admired from any location on campus.

Move-In Earthquake of 2011

JRA 6

On day one of move-in, JMU experienced an unexpected earthquake. The Class of 2015 came in with a bang, shaking things up from the very beginning.

The Class of 2015 saw the inauguration of Jonathan R. Alger, the sixth president to serve at James Madison University. When President Alger asks, “Why Madison?” JMU students do not hesitate to answer. We look forward to seeing what he will contribute to our Madison Experience.
