Suspek sa robbery-slay sa isang klinika, nadakip na LUNSOD BATANGAS -- Nadakip ng Batangas City PNP ang dalawa (2) sa apat (4) na suspek sa kasong robbery with double homicide sa naganap na insidente ng panloloob at pagpatay noong ika-1 ng Marso sa Batangas Clinical Laboratory. Ito ay pagkatapos na matukoy sa CCTV footage ng lugar na pinangyarihan ng krimen. Ang dalawang suspek ay nakilalang sina Mark Anthony Burog alyas “Aso”at Roderick Bonifacio alyas “Ilik”. Ang dalawa ay pawang residente ng lunsod. Magugunita na kamakailan ay nilooban ang natu-rang klinika at pinatay pa ang dalawang caretaker nito na nakilalang sina Jeffrey Narvaza, 35 taong gulang at Leonora Falceso, 69 taong gulang. Agad na nagkaroon ng follow up operation ang Batangas City PNP at sa pakikipagtulungan ng mismong ina ni Burog ay nadakip ito sa isang hotel sa Lunsod ng Lipa. Dito na isiniwalat ni Burog na siya ay myembro ng kilabot na Adam Group na sangkot sa maraming shooting incident sa buong Batangas. Kinilala ni Burog ang lider ng grupo na si Adam Larosa bilang mastermind ng nasabing krimen.

Isinangkot rin ni Burog ang isang Dolores Sylvestre, tubong Barangay Cuta, na kasabwat sa nasabing pagnanakaw. Agad na tinugis si Sylvestre at kasalukuyang nakapiit sa temporary jail cell ng Batangas City PNP kasama si Burog. Sa kasalukuyan ay pinaghahanap pa si Larosa at Bonifacio upang tuluyan ng maresolba abg kaso. Ayon kay Batangas City PNP Chief Col. Manuel Castillo malaki ang posibilidad isang inside job ang nangyaring pagnanakaw sapagkat makikita aniya sa CCTV footage na tukoy na tukoy ng mga suspek kung saan nakatago ang pera na nagkakahalaga umano ng P700,000. Malaki ring tulong aniya ang testimonya ni Burog na may mga kumpare siya sa klinika na nagbigay impormasyon sa kaniya na may malaking pera na nakatago sa opisina. Nanawagan naman si Castillo sa mga tagalunsod ng Batangas na kung may impormasyon sila sa mga suspk ay agad na ipaalam ito sa kanilang tanggapan sapagkat lubha umanong mapanganib ang mga ito.| JERSON SANCHEZ

Two additional lanes from Lipa to Batangas City were made while the entire toll road gets a new asphalt overlay that will make travel by the devotees bound for Lipa,Taal and Batangas City more pleasant, safer and faster according to STC.

Furthermore, an array of traffic and safety measures were allotted to the 42kilometer Star Tollway between Sto. Tomas and Batangas City as thousands of pilgrims and devotees from the north and south will make their way to Batangas

for the traditional Visita Iglesia to 49 churches in the province. Arguelles then suggested that it would be better if STC was able to place more directional signs along Star Tollway that would lead to churches in the province. Reyes obliged to put up more directional signage near exits that can lead motorists or pilgrims to other popular church destinations. Installation of additional lighting facilities and CCTV cameras, which are part of the PhP2.3 billion improvement project, are expected to be completed soon in time for the summer vacation. Mahigit Ph1B halaga ng negosyo, pasok sa Palawan sa 2014 PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan – Tinatayang Ph1.01 bilyon ang halaga ng pamumuhunan na ipinasok sa ekonomiya ng 4,832 negosyo na nagparehistro para sa business name noong 2014. Ang naitalang halaga ay base sa rekord mula sa tanggapan sa Palawan ng Department of Trade & Industry. Ayon dito, mas mataas ang nagpa-rehistro noong 2014 ng 10.3 porsiyento kung ihahambing sa data ng 2013. Marami sa mga ito ay kabilang sa sektor ng pangse-serbisyo (58.5 porsiyento) at wholesale/ retail trade (34.5 porsiyento). Umabot naman sa 8,962 ang nalikha na trabaho mula sa pagnenegosyo ng mga ito sa Palawan. Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni DTI Provincial Director Rosenda Fortunado na tumataas taon-taon ang nagsasagawa ng kanilang business name registration dahil na din sa paborableng kalakaran sa merkado at pagnenegosyo. Kampanyang “Angat sa Pinas” ng BIR, isinagawa sa San Jose SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro – Isinagawa ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ang kanilang kampanyang Angat Pa Pinas sa Sikatuna Beach Hotel sa bayan ng San Jose kamakailan. Ayon kay BIR Regional Director Araceli Francisco, ang gawaing ito ay taunang isinasagawa upang maipaalam sa mga magbabayad ng kanilang buwis (taxpayers) ang mga programa ng BIR. “We also take this as an opportunity to tell our taxpayers to file now (income tax), and not wait for the deadline (ginagamit din namin ang pagkakataong ito upang sabihan ang mga magbabayad ng buwis na maari na silang magbayad ngayon at huwag nang hintayin ang huling araw ng pagbabayad)”, pahayag ng direktor. Ipinaliwanag din ni Francisco na ang temang Angat Pa Pinas ay isang hamon sa lahat na dapat ipagpatuloy ang tinatamong pag angat ng ekonomiya ng bansa na matatamo lamang sa kooperasyon at pagtutulungan ng lahat. “Ang mga taxes na nakokolekta namin, is used to support the national development initiatives (ay ginagamit upang suportahan ang pambansang kaunlaran na inisyatibu ng pamahalaan)”, dagdag pa ni Francisco. Tinalakay din ng direktor ang ilang programa ng BIR na may layuning palakasin pa ang koleksyon ng buwis. Isa na rito ang Rate Program (Run After Tax Evaders), isang programa na nakatuon sa mga taxpayers na nagdeklara ng babayarang buwis na kulang ng higit sa 30 porsyento. Umali, Jr. na kabilang ang mga proyektong kontra-baha na aabot sa halagang P1.4 bilyon ang prinisenta niya sa pamahalaang nasyunal kamakailan. Samantala, matatandaang bago pa nailapit sa pangulo ang mga malalaking proyekto kontra-baha, naipagawa na ang P15 milyong halaga ng dalawang gabion dike sa Barangay San Andres at Barangay Tagumpay sa Naujan.|

Seeking truth and justice pursuing peace Editor’s Note: The following is the full text of the statement of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)’s Statement on the ongoing Mamasapano investigation.

Ang Mabuting Balita Si Jesus at si Nicodemo

AT kung paanong itinaas ni Moises ang tansong ahas doon sa ilang, gayundin naman, kailangang itaas ang Anak ng Tao, upang ang sinumang sumampalataya sa kanya ay magkaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan. Sapagkat gayon na lamang ang pag-ibig ng Diyos sa sangkatauhan, kaya't ibinigay niya ang kanyang kaisa-isang Anak, upang ang sinumang sumampalataya sa kanya ay hindi mapahamak, kundi magkaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan. Isinugo ng Diyos ang kanyang Anak, hindi upang hatulang maparusahan ang mga tao, kundi upang iligtas ang mga ito sa pamamagitan niya. Hindi hinahatulang maparusahan ang sumasampalataya sa Anak. Ngunit hinatulan na ang hindi sumasampalataya, sapagkat hindi siya sumampalataya sa kaisaisang Anak ng Diyos. Ganito ang paghatol ng Diyos: naparito sa sanlibutan ang ilaw, ngunit inibig pa ng mga tao ang dilim kaysa liwanag, sapagkat ang kanilang mga gawain ay masasama. Kinasusuklaman ng mga gumagawa ng masama ang ilaw, ni hindi lumalapit dito upang hindi mahayag ang kanilang mga gawa. Last Part of 2-Part Series IT is of course true that peace cannot rest on deceit, the suppression of truth and subterfuge. This is the reason that getting to the truth of the Mamasapano tragedy is of paramount importance. In fact we should learn from Mamasapano for we paid a heavy price to learn its lessons. We have painfully been shown the pitfalls and the traps, the gaps and the lacunae of deals we have thus far entered into. The goal cannot be the cessation of hostilities at any cost, but a principled settlement of the dispute, and peace born out of truth, a commitment to social justice and adherence to the fundamental law of the land! If anything at all, Mamasapano should instill in all, especially in our Legislators, a sense of circumspection in respect to examining the first draft Bangsamoro Basic Law. Let the document be assiduously studied, fully debated and exhaustively examined. The Moral Requisites of a Just Settlement There has to be SINCERITY on both sides—on the side of government forces and agents and on the side of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Hostilities must cease while legal processes must be observed. Officers pursuing fugitives from justice or identified terrorists can never be the legitimate objects of attack. Similarly where a truce has been agreed on, it is incumbent on all parties to hold their fire. The government must resolutely pursue its projects for the further development of Muslim Mindanao and for the speedy and lasting attainment of social justice so that our Muslim brothers and sisters may fully share in the resources of the country and in the strides it makes towards prosperity. The MILF must surrender the culprits: those who cut down the SAF 44 in the prime of their youth and must not interfere with their prosecution and their trial. The video clip that went viral showing the merciless execution of SAF men who were wounded and helpless cannot and must not be shrugged off. The CBCP stands with the widows and orphans of the fallen to demand Justice and the indictment of the culpable. It must also explain satisfactorily why international terrorists were within the territory supposedly occupied by them. Finally, the arms and ammunition captured from the SAF and from other lawful agents of the Republic of the Philippines must be returned. Justice and peace demand restitution of what one has wrongfully taken. Solidarity in Prayer The CBCP remains one with the grieving families of our fallen SAF men, as well as with the families of all who lost loved ones in this armed encounter. Whether Christian or Muslim, we believe in a God who does not allow those who remain faithful to him to be lost. We turn now in this moment of grief to the One Father of us all for consolation, strength and hope. Appeal for True Patriotism This is not the time for political opportunism. This is not the time for adventurism or grandstanding. While resolute action is necessary on the part of all, precipitous action and recourse to extra-constitutional measures will only visit more harm and misery on our people. The CBCP cannot lend its support to any movement that may bring greater suffering for our people. We would do well to join in the debate spiritedly, to be zealous in ferreting out the facts and to be unyielding in

Accountability ON January 26, 2015, the National Transformation Council (NTC) held an assembly in Lipa City. As usual, the event started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. After the mass, a short program ensued which highlight the speeches of representatives from labor, fisher folks, urban settlers and farmers. Unlike the traditional protest actions, their speeches did not center on condemnation of the administration or any of its officials. The speakers conveyed to the audience the plight of the poor and the need to establish a truly propoor government. Among those who attended the event are the members of the Good Governance Desk of the Archdiocese of Lipa. Their attendance conveyed their support to the call of the Archbishop of Lipa for President BS Aquino III to step down from office and their heir commitment to work for the upliftment of the poor and the marginalized. In a two-page manifesto, the Good Governance Desk laid down the reason why it is supporting the call of the NTC. The manifesto calls the present administration to be accountable in addressing serious issues of governance today. It laments the failure of the administration to handle the problems confronting our society today as shown by its mishandling of the Mamasapano operation and the brutal killing of the brutal killing of the 44 members of the PNP-SAF by the combined elements of the MILF-BIFF. It considers the recent event as manifestation of another breakdown of our democratic institutions. It takes note that the sacrifices of these young men prove that genuine peace is possible only if contending parties have mutual desires to let go of armed violence as means to achieve social and political ends. It asserts that certain acts of the Executive Department which may be interpreted as transgression of the fundamental values of democracy are not mere

innocent indiscretion. Among others, it enumerated the following as prejudicial to the existing democratic institutions: (a) usurpation of the Congress’ power of the purse through the Development Acceleration Program (DAP); (b) violation of judicial independence through threats of impeachment and negative comments against members of the Supreme Court Judiciary during the pendency of the DAP controversies; (c) perceived selective prosecution of nonallies for complicity in the PDAF scam; and (d) perceived shielding allies who are facing accusations of graft and corruption. Aside from these, the manifesto expressed disgust over the seeming the lack of empathy for the poor of the present administration. It put to question the inefficient response to the situation of the victims of the typhoon Yolanda and the violent Zamboanga siege and the act hauling beggars and street kids to government paid vehicles to hide them from the eyes of the Holy Father, and dumping them back in the streets of Manila after the Pope’s visit. These are only some of the reasons why the Good Governance Desk joined the NTC in its call for social and political transformation. Calls such as this could only mean that in spite of the promises of the coming elections, people feared that their fate will not be any different unless fundamental and long-term changes happen in our society. People are getting worried that the present system and the people who are running it can no longer fix whatever is wrong with it. As such, anyone who intends to serve the people should address to himself first these doubts before presenting himself as a candidate in the coming election. At this time, it seems that elections cannot provide solutions to the serious concerns of our society. Canon fodder DURING the time when the Aquino government was defending the signing of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) with the US, it repeatedly claimed that the increased presence of US troops in the country would ‘protect’ the country in the event that the territorial dispute with China escalates into a shooting war. Progressive groups and patriotic individuals, on the other hand, countered that it would bring the country no good as the presence of US troops would not only violate the Philippine Constitution and the nation’s sovereignty, it would also pull the country into wars that the US initiated such as the global “war on terror.” This, they said, would make the Philippines vulnerable to attacks from the enemies of the US. And besides, they added, the US would never go to war against China for the Philippines because that would be against US interests, with China being a big market, a host of US transnational corporations, and its biggest debtor outside the US. It never even recognized Philippine claims to the Spratly islands and Panatag Shoal, much unlike Japan where US Pres. Barack Obama categorically claimed that the islands being disputed by Japan and China is the former’s territory. Well, the Mamasapano fiasco, which killed 44 Special Action Forces (SAF) troops of the Philippine National Police (PNP), 18 Moro fighters, and five civilians, has proven the truth of the arguments of progressive groups and patriotic individuals. Oplan Exodus was undoubtedly a US operation: the US provided the target (Marwan and Usman), the intelligence support, the training, the maps, and drones, among others. Relieved PNP-SAF head Getulio Napeñas admitted that much. Witnesses even saw US soldiers during the retrieval operations and reports revealed that among those killed in the battle was a Caucasian man. Clearly, President Benigno Aquino III, who has so far admitted that he knew about the operations and was briefed about the plans, and the military advisers

from the US, knew that the casualties on the side of PNPSAF troops would be high. Why wouldn’t it? They were engaging in combat in an area where fighters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters are stationed. Even the makers of the movie Black Hawk Down knew as much that it is impossible to launch a combat operation into the territory of an adversary without inviting fire from all sides and suffering heavy casualties. Thus, in effect, the PNP-SAF troops who were killed and wounded were used as cannon fodder in a, undoubtedly, US operation. If we are to count the number of those sacrificed for this US-directed operation, it would include the 44 SAF killed, the 18 Moro fighters, five civilians, and likewise, those who have been killed and the thousands more who are being displaced in the ongoing “all out war” being waged by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) against the BIFF. President Benigno Aquino III and the US should be held accountable for this. >>>PERSPECTIVE.....turn to P/6 Recently, Bulatlat.com published a report regarding the call of Kabataan Partylist Rep. Terry Ridon for a congressional review on the activities of the 600 US Special Forces troops who were stationed here under the auspices of the Joint Special Operations Task Force– Philippines (JSOTF-P) to determine the extent of US military intervention in the country. This, after the US embassy quietly announced the closure of the JSOTFP. (Progressives warn that the closure was done to give way to the entry of more US troops into the country with the signing of the EDCA.) Rep. Ridon also called for a probe into the deaths of 17 US Special Forces troops during the past 13 years. Let us support the call for the review of the JSOTFP and the junking of the EDCA, the Visiting Forces Agreement and the Mutual Defense Treaty between the US and the GPH as well.|

Gasgas na palusot INAKUSAHAN si Diego ng panggagahasa kay Ana (hindi tunay na pangalan), anak ng kanyang ka-live-in. Umiiyak na isinalaysay ni Ana ang sinapit niya kay Diego. Noon daw Marso 3, 2001, bandang 3:30 ng madaling-araw, pagkaalis ng kanyang ina at kapatid papuntang palengke kung saan mayroon silang puwesto, ay ginahasa siya ni Diego. Dinetalye ni Ana ang lahat ng kahalayang ginawa sa kanya pati na ang pagtutok sa kanya ng balisong sa kanang bahagi ng kanyang leeg. Hindi itinanggi ni Diego ang nangyari sa kanila ni Ana. Pero ayon sa kanya, pareho nilang ginusto ito. Hindi raw niya tinakot o pinuwersa ang dalaga. Magnobyo raw silang dalawa. Bilang patunay, isinumite niya ang isang dokumento — “Kasunduan naming dalawa” sa korte na pinirmahan ni Ana isang araw bago siya ginahasa ni Diego bagaman ang nakalagay na petsa ay Disyembre 10, 1999. Ayon sa dokumento, tumanggap si Ana ng P1,500 kay Diego at inaasahan niya ang patuloy na pagdating sa kanya ng ganitong halaga kada buwan. Kapanipaniwala ba ang depensa ni Diego?  HINDI. Gasgas na ang palusot na ito ng mga lalaking nagsasamantala sa kahinaan ng kanilang biktima at pagkatapos ay ipipilit na magnobyo sila ng kawawang babae. Iniinsulto ng argumentong ito ang katalinuhan ng huwes na nagpapasya sa kaso.

Una sa lahat, upang makumbinsi ang hukuman sa alibi na ito, kailangang kapani-paniwala ang mga ebidensiya tulad ng mga sulat, retrato o anumang bagay na kukumbinse sa korte na magsiyota ang dalawa. Sa kasong ito, ang direktang pag-amin ni Diego na may nangyari sa kanilang dalawa ni Ana ay patunay na ginawa niya ang panggagahasa. Kung talagang nobya niya si Ana, siya ang may responsibilidad na patunayan ang relasyong ito sa pamamagitan ng matibay na ebidensiya. Hindi sapat ang isinumiteng “Kasunduan”, patunay lang ito na tumatanggap si Ana ng pera at inaasahan niya ang patuloy na pagtanggap ng pera mula kay Diego. Kung ano man ang dahilan kung bakit tumatanggap siya ng pera ay hindi na gaanong malinaw. Isa pa, kung talagang totoo nga na magsiyota ang dalawa at mayroon silang relasyon na pinagkasunduan nilang ilihim sa ibang tao, hindi na kailangang mag-imbento si Ana ng kuwento para makasuhan si Diego. In Korea: No peace pact..., only ceasefire WE agonize today over the peace pact between the MILF and the government. After Mamasapamo, there are now serious challenges and obstacles. But while we are sorting out things, we need to keep the guns silent. This is through the ceasefire agreement.  “ARMISTICE” --Talking of ceasefires. This may help assuage our own ruffled and worried feelings. Just barely four (4) hours away by plane from Manila, are two deeply divided Koreas, North Korea (called Democratic People's Republic of Korea or DPRK) and South Korea (officially called Republic of Korea or ROK). Fact is, since the war broke out in 1950, the two Koreas do NOT have a peace agreement up to now. All they have today is a ceasefire protocol called “armistice”.  VISITING DMZ -- During an international forum on “Prospects for Peace in Northeast Asia” in Seoul, Korea over the past few days organized by the US-based Washington Times, I was able to visit the "no man's land" demilitarized zone (DMZ) that separates North Korea and South Korea. The two forces are in fact facing each other literally "eyeball to eyeball" with only a two-way street separating them from each other. Well, it's not really just the street but the United Nations military contingent that supervises the so-called "armistice" or ceasefire. The name "DMZ" is actually a misnomer. The 240-kilometer line popularly known before as the "38th parallel" that divides the 2 Koreas, in some places, is heavily militarized.  DICTATOR -- In the north, a young, widely regarded as a volatile despot, Kim Jung Un, rules after he succeeded his late father. The head of the UN mission told us during the briefing that the "coordination" protocols of the "armistice" was suddenly changed since March 2013 soon after the young Kim took over. " They no longer answer the phone on the other side", he said. The phone represented the joint dialogues, meetings and coordination that kept both sides in peace. Nonetheless, although some tensions surface from time to time, the ceasefire or armistice holds.  DEFECTORS ---During our group's side visit to the world-renown hub of the CHEON IL GUK of the late Rev. Moon, to witness the international celebratory event of its founding anniversary including that of the Universal Peace Foundation and officiated by DR. HAK JAN HAN MOON, co-founder of Washington Times, we were able to listen to the testimonies of defectors from North Korea who escaped from the despotic rule across the border. They claimed that they paid bribes to Nokor soldiers and officials in the borders just to cross the River Han for their deliverance. Life, from their accounts, in the north was like hell on earth, no food, virtually no respect for human rights and dignity and violence. They had to escape.  MISSILES & ATTACK ---During the time I was in Korea, two missiles were launched from North Korea to the sea as a protest to the on-going military exercises by South Korea with the US. On my last day in Seoul, US Ambassador to Korea Mark Lippert, a close bosom friend President Obama, was attacked and wounded by a Korean who was mouthing anti US-ROK cooperation expletives.  ONE KOREA --- In spite of these challenges, the dream of re-unifying the two Koreas still remains a high priority, especially among the elderly Koreans whose families and friends are still sadly separated or are missing. Others are mostly totally unheard of. Talking to some young Koreans though, the issue of a divided Korea does not seem urgent. The young generation basks in and are preoccupied with the economic boom and prosperity of the progressive south. Those recurring threats of possible outbreak of hostilities are evidently pushed back in the backburners of their minds, although the fear of the future pop up from time to time when incidents take place.  FUTURE --- A deeply divided Korea is a humanitarian crisis in itself. The rising tension rears its ugly head from time to time. There are expert Korea watchers who opine and firmly hold the view that unless the present North Korean government collapses or dictator Kim Jung Un is deposed suddenly, a reunification and a turn to peace is a "pipe dream". But there is optimism. "That time will definitely come but as to when, we do not really know", a highly placed former US diplomat told us.  Editor’s Note: Lawyer Jesus G. BARYANIHAN PROJECT of SM City Batangas generated P150,000.00 from the donations/ loose change from customers of the SM Supermarket sa Batangas City from June, 2014 to December 2014. Dubbed as Loose Change for Big Change - Baryanihan project is derived from the barya (loose coins) and the value/ bayanihan spirit of the Filipino people. According to Ms. Rosita Rico, Store Manger, SM launched the project in 2011 at SM Adriatico, Manila where P20,000.00 worth of donations were raised to buy cleaning materials for the Manila Zoo. Since then SM were able to sustain the projects to help orphanages and other charitable institutions. Ms. Rico is extending the gratitude of SM City to all the customers who supported the project. “An average of 4000 customers daily patronize the SM supermarket,” enthuses Ms. Rico. The proceeds were used to buy soundsystem, appliances and school supplies for 158 students of the Special Education Center, Batangas City East Elementary School (BCEES), P. Herrera St., Batangas City. Sa pamamagitan nito, magkakaroon sila ng kakayanan na makipagkompetensya sa mga pumasok sa regular na paaralan. Patunay dito ang ilang mga ALS graduate na naging mga Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers. Ang aplikasyon ay isusumite sa tanggapan ng Batangas City Youth Center. Samantala, ipinabatid din ni Perlada na ang aplikasyon para sa scholarship sa high school at college ay gagawin sa buong buwan ng Abril. Ang isang EBD scholar sa high school ay tumatanggap ng P3,000 allowance habang ang nasa kolehiyo naman ay may P3000 subsidy allowance at P 5000 na assistance para sa school fees. Para sa school year 2015-2016, full blast na aniya ang pagbibigay ng subsidy allowance sa pamamagitan ng ATM. Malaking tulong ito para sa mga mag-aaral na nasa ibang lugar sapagkat maaari nilang makuha ang kanilang allowance anumang oras at saan mang lugar. Sasailalim sa interview at home visitation yaong mga nakapagsumite na ng aplikasyon. Hinikayat naman ang mga scholars na makiisa at makilahok sa mga programa ng pamahalaang lunsod bilang payback scheme sa naitulong sa kanila ng lokal na pamahalaan. Kaugnay pa din ng Abot Alam program, binibigyang prayoridad din nito ang pagbibigay ng trabaho sa mga out of school youth sa lunsod. Ayon kay Public Employment Service Officer Noel Silang, may 23 beneficiaries sila na itatalaga sa apat na branches ng food chain na Mc Donald’s sa Batangas. Ipinabatid din ni Silang na bilang pagdiriwang ng Women’s Month, magkakaroon ng special job fair sa Batangas City Sports Center sa March 10 eksklusibo para sa mga kababaihan. May pitong kompanya ang inaasahang lalahok dito. On going na din aniya ang aplikasyon upang maging Special Program for the Employment of Students o SPES grantees. Sa March 16 ang deadline ng submission ng aplikasyon, March 25 naman ang exam na susundan ng final interview. Pinakamalaking geothermal plant sa mundo, itatayo sa Oriental Mindoro Balak itayo ang nasabing planta sa Montelago Village sa may gilid ng Naujan Lake. Kapag natapos na ang pagtatayo ng plantang ito, ang Pilipinas ay higit na makakalampas sa Estados Unidos bilang world’s leader in producing geothermal energy. Kapag naitayo na ang geothermal power plant na ito, hindi na makararanas ng rotating brownout ang buong isal ng Mindor sa ilan pang sunudsunod na taon. Patuloy naman ang paghanap ng pamahalaan ng mga posibleng opsyon upang matugunan ang patuloy na

lumalaking pangangailangan sa sapat na suplay ng kuryente na hindi gumagamit ng bunker oil at carbon bilang panggatong. Sa Lunsod ng Silay, Negros Oriental, isa pang hydrothermal plant ang binabalak itayo ng local energy cooperative CENECO sa tulong ng DOE na may kapasidad na 6-MW sa Malogo River. Kayang magsuplay ng planta sa may 130,000 mamamayan ng Silangang Mindoro. “We are taking all options to make energy that cannot cause global warming, and we can only do that by utilizing our natural resources”, pahayag naman ni DOE director Mario C. Jilin Art Troupe ng China, bumisita sa Batangas City NAGTANGHAL sa Batangas City Convention Center noong March 2, ang Jilin Art Troupe, isang sikat na cultural group sa China, at hinangaan rin sa kanilang mga performances sa ibaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t ibang bansa. Ang pagtatanghal ay itinaguyod ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Batangas, sa pakikipag ugnayan ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) at Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Ito ay bahagi ng 40th Anniversary ng Philippine-China Diplomatic Relations at pagdiriwang ng Chinese New Year sa Pilipinas. Ang pagtatanghal sa Batangas City ay una sa magkakasunod na palabas ng Jilin Art Troupe para sa Cultural Exchange Program ng CCP, NCCA at Ministry of Culture ng China. Nakatakda ring magtanghal ang grupo sa Cebu sa March 7 at Davao sa March 10.
