“It’s belief. It’s guys flying around, making plays [and] stepping up, and that’s what they did [last Monday night]. That’s what it takes in that moment. It’s not easy being [down double digits late in the game], but when you have guys that believe in themselves [and] believe in each other … It was a team win. Everybody did their jobs, and we’re fortunate to come out on the right end." – TE Mark Andrews on Baltimore's never-quit mentality
G Kevin Zeitler
It’s a battle of first-place teams in their respective divisions when the Ravens (4-1) host the Los Angeles Chargers (4-1) in today's game at M&T Bank Stadium. Baltimore, which is riding a four-game winning streak, faces a surging Chargers squad that has won three straight. The Ravens hold a 7-5 all-time regular season series lead over the Chargers, including a 3-1 mark in Baltimore. These teams last met during the 2018 Wild Card playoffs, when Los Angeles upended the Ravens, 23-17, in Charm City. Under head coach John Harbaugh, Baltimore is 4-3 overall against the Chargers. Baltimore owns a 17-4 regular season record at home vs. teams from the West Coast. Additionally, the Ravens aim to capture their third win against the AFC West this season, after beating Kansas City in Week 2 and Denver in Week 4. (Baltimore fell in OT at Las Vegas in Week 1’s opener on Monday Night Football.) On Monday (10/11), the Ravens prevailed in another thrilling game when Baltimore overcame a 19-point deficit to beat the visiting Colts, 31-25, in OT. Down 22-3 late in the third quarter, QB Lamar Jackson led a furious comeback, with Baltimore scoring 22 unanswered points that were aided by a DE Calais Campbell blocked FG. Jackson finished the night 37-of-43 (86.1%) for a franchise-record 442 passing yards and 4 TDs (2 each to TE Mark Andrews & WR Marquise Brown).

Calais Campbell:
Moving People By Dan Horowitz
10 | 2021 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY
EVEN IN A GAME FILLED WITH BIG men, Calais Campbell stands apart. At 6 feet 8 inches tall, with the skill set to match his imposing frame, Campbell has no problem moving offensive linemen who attempt to impede his path to the quarterback or ball carrier. And when he’s not physically moving people on the gridiron, he’s moving them in other ways – the ways Walter Payton moved people – with his work in the community or his mentorship to young teammates aspiring to build the Hall of Fame-caliber career Campbell has built for himself. In the NFL, availability is often called the best ability, and Campbell’s 203 career games and 185 starts entering today’s contest rank as the most among active defensive linemen. Over his 14-year career, he owns 92 sacks and 159 tackles for loss, earning six Pro Bowl nods and a first-team All-Pro honor. Now just eight sacks shy of the coveted century mark, Campbell has his eyes set on triple digits, but the team-first defensive end’s main goals are even loftier.
“The main goal has always been the team goal – to get that jewelry and to hold that trophy. And I’ve always told myself I want to be a Super Bowl MVP. That's kind of always been a goal of mine,” Campbell revealed. “But honestly though, this year, which is a very unique year, I'm eight sacks away from 100, and that's something that's always been my goal. This year, I want to get over that 100 mark.” A wily veteran on a Ravens' defense with impactful young players, Campbell is far from bashful about bestowing his wisdom upon his future successors. A regular sight in the team’s cafeteria at the Under Armour Performance Center includes Campbell sitting with a younger teammate, breaking down film or imparting his erudite knowledge and advice.
“The best part of the game is being able to teach the young guys the things I’ve learned throughout my career."
"Some of it is not going to affect them at all; some of it will go in one ear and out the other; but some of it is going to really connect with them and help them become great people and great players.” And that wisdom hits a little different when the man providing it has an embroidered bronze patch of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award on his jersey. Campbell, the 2019 recipient of the league’s most distinguished community honor, takes great pride in inspiring the youth and giving back to his local community. “It’s what I want to be represented for,” Campbell acknowledged, regarding his impact in the community. “You want to leave a legacy. And the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award aligned with who I am and my values.” In 2013, alongside his seven siblings, he co-founded the Charles Richard Campbell Foundation, named in honor of his father, aimed at supporting disadvantaged youth to reach their full potential. In addition to countless donations for a wide range of initiatives, including helping change the name of his high school alma mater from the Rebels, a Civil War-inspired mascot, to the Ravens, Campbell spends his in-season Mondays (the once-a-week off day for Ravens players) at local hospitals, schools and youth centers. While the 14-year vet has admitted to taking it year by year at this point in his career, Campbell’s on- and off-field teachings will be carried out by the young playmakers on Baltimore’s defense, and his commitment to the community will help today’s youth reach their full potential.
Calais Campbell is one of the best people-movers of all time. 2021 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY | 11

"[Marquise Brown] wants to win. He’s a winner. He’s a baller. He’s
going to tell me, ‘Give me the ball,’ because he wants to make something happen. He’s hungry. He’s always hungry. [His 100-yard receiving game on Sunday night vs. KC (9/19/21)] was not really impressive, because I already know what he’s capable of doing. He’s always been doing that. It’s just that he did it when he was supposed to do it – primetime. It matches his name, ‘Primetime Jet.’ He was showing it. Primetime atmosphere, he showed the jets. He did what he does. That’s ‘Hollywood’ for you." – QB LAMAR JACKSON
"It just shows you who he is. We’re expecting a lot more of that in the future. We’re very proud of him." – HEAD COACH JOHN HARBAUGH (On Marquise Brown's performance at Denver on Oct. 3)

On June 9, the Ravens hosted their annual volunteer day at Baltimore City’s Edgecombe Circle and Curtis Bay (pictured) elementary schools.
RAVENS SIGNATURE PROJECT This offseason, the Baltimore Ravens invested $150,000 into two Baltimore City schools to establish new educational spaces. Nearly 100 staff volunteers participated in the renovations at Edgecombe Circle and Curtis Bay elementary schools, fully funded by the Ravens Foundation, Inc. Key components of both renovations included construction of an outdoor classroom (Edgecombe Circle), creation of peace and meditation rooms (Edgecombe Circle and Curtis Bay) and assembly of educational packs (Curtis Bay). This project marks the second time the Ravens have worked with Edgecombe Circle, as the team’s 2020 signature project created a new, kid-designed
playground at the school. The Ravens’ signature project remains a staple commitment of the organization to supporting the Baltimore community. Previous projects and renovation sites include Webster Kendrick Boys and Girls Club (2019), Douglass Homes (2018), Mary Ann Winterling Elementary School (2017), Ravens Bookmobile (2016) and Charles Carroll Barrister Elementary #34 (2015). In addition to the 2021 school transformations, this past March, the Ravens made an additional investment of $200,000 to Baltimore City Public Schools to assist students, faculty and staff as they returned to in-person learning for the first time since the pandemic began.
