“Jimmy is a chess piece. The game of football, especially defensively with the way the rules change and everything else, the best way I could tell you is it's starting to become a lot like the NBA – that you're matching personnel and lineups when they come off the bench. He's a great chess piece to have, because we can play him in other spots, besides just corner and safety.” – Defensive Coordinator Don Martindale on Jimmy Smith’s versatility

It’s a nationally-televised Monday Night Football battle when the Baltimore Ravens (3-1) host the Indianapolis Colts (1-3) at M&T Bank Stadium tonight. Playing three of their first four contests on the road, the Ravens return home for their second home game, which follows a thrilling 36-35 primetime victory over Kansas City in Week 2. Riding a three-game winning streak, Baltimore sits atop the AFC North with Cincinnati and Cleveland (also both 3-1). The Ravens, who own a 16-2 record in home primetime games under John Harbaugh, are appearing on Monday Night Football for the second time this season after falling in OT, 33-27, at Las Vegas in Week 1. Though Baltimore has won four of the past five games against Indianapolis, the Colts lead the all-time regular season series, 8-5. Coach Harbaugh is 3-3 against Indy in the regular season and 1-1 in playoff contests. Baltimore has won two straight vs. the Colts, including a 24-10 victory at Indy in 2020. On Oct. 3, the Ravens prevailed, 23-7, at Denver behind a stout defensive effort and proficient passing attack. Baltimore allowed a season-low 254 yards, also producing 5 sacks and 1 INT (CB Anthony Averett). QB Lamar Jackson was 22-of-37 passing for a season-best 316 yards, including a spectacular 49-yard diving TD from WR Marquise Brown, who produced a game-

“To be 3-1 after playing three games on the road in some really tough environments is quite an accomplishment. Now, we have to come home and take care of business. Add on the adversity that we have faced, that’s just part of it, but that adversity is still there. We still have to keep working through that. “Haloti was a freak of nature. He could’ve played any position, but everything he did, he was humble with it. Every big play he made, he was like, ‘I was supposed to do that.’ And, he loved his teammates so much. He was like a protector for me on the field. He just meant so much to me. I miss ‘Big Boy.’”

“I’m very excited about Haloti being inducted into the Ring of Honor. That was a foregone conclusion. He’s a Raven – a Raven for life. It was an honor to coach him.” – Head Coach John Harbaugh longtime RAVENS dt haloti ngata enters the Ravens Ring of Honor during halftime of tonight's game. A 2006 first-round draft pick by Baltimore, Ngata plugged the middle of the Ravens' defensive line for nine seasons (2006-14). Wreaking havoc as one of the most athletic defensive tackles in the NFL, Ngata was a force in the trenches on one of the NFL's top defenses, reaching the pinnacle with the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII championship in 2012.
“Haloti is hands down one of the best players in Ravens history. A physical freak, who could single-handedly control the line of scrimmage. He was the fiercest enforcer in franchise history and one of the best teammates I have ever had. Congratulations on this deserving honor.” – Teammate Terrell Suggs (above with Ngata)

chuck clark
“Chuck Clark Chuck is a great story about hard work, patience, preparation and passion. He waited for his chance and seized the opportunity. Chuck's a good football player, a fine teammate and respected leader. He's the type of player we want on our defense for a long time. He is in many ways the heart and soul of our defense.”
– EVP & GENERAL MANAGER ERIC DECOSTA
"Chuck is extremely smart. He can line everybody up, he can manage the defense, and on top of that, he's a great athlete. He has every attribute to become a great player in this league."
– PASS GAME COORDINATOR/SECONDARY CHRIS HEWITT
CHUCK CLARK CAREER HIGHLIGHTS • Has played in 58 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak for the Ravens • Ranks second on the team with 23 tackles in 2021, also adding 2 TFL, 1 sack and 3 PD • Started in all 16 games in 2020 and produced a career-high 96 tackles (57 solo), 1.5 sacks, 3 TFL, 4 QBHs and 3 FRs, one of which he returned 65 yards for a TD at Ind. (11/8/20) • In 2020, helped guide the NFL’s No. 2 scoring defense (18.9 ppg) and No. 2 third-down defense (34.0%)…Also notched 2 of Baltimore’s league-leading 25 FFs • Returned his first-career INT 5 yards, helping set up a game-tying TD drive in the third quarter at KC (12/9/18) 14 | 2021 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY
DIRECT FROM CHUCK… WHAT IS THE FAVORITE CLASS YOU TOOK IN COLLEGE?
"I took a creative writing class in college taught by the Nikki Giovanni (famous American poet). Just being in the class with her and being able to sit down and talk with her was amazing."
DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPERSTITIONS?
"If I move something and things have been going right … Let’s say I had a book somewhere on the dresser in the house, and things have been going right, and I move it, well, I’ve got to go put that back where it was. So, don’t move it if things are going well!"
WHAT IS SOMETHING EVERYBODY SHOULD TRY AT LEAST ONCE?
"I think everyone must leave the country at least once. Whatever country you’re from, if you get a chance, go check out another."
IF YOU COULD GUEST STAR ON ANY TV SHOW, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
"If I could go back and hop on 'Martin,' that would be great."
WHAT IS A SONG GUARANTEED TO GET YOU DANCING?
"Any song on the 'No Ceilings' mixtape by Lil Wayne."
“Chuck is just a good football player that loves to study the game, and you can see it out there. ... He loves our defense, and he knows all the checks. It’s like that (snaps fingers) for him. As far as the communicator, as far as the checks, as far as just the football smarts, he has become that [Eric] Weddle, that Magic Johnson of the defense of getting people lined up and setting them up to make plays, as well.”
