The complexity of the global economy is increasing exponentially. Innovation and technology is fueling new progress. The world as we know it, is changing rapidly. Today, success in leading a business or an organization of any kind is no longer just about maintaining the status quo of survival and growth. In a world filled with creativity and opportunities, successful leadership must harness an entrepreneurial perspective that can take a modern business beyond the realm of the ordinary and move swiftly to the frontier of tomorrow’s emerging possibilities.
Imagine a brighter future. The way we view the world. Vision. Courage. The confidence to take hold of a good idea and build. The power of Entrepreneurship. The ability to make a difference. IT STARTS HERE.
EVERY DAY, THE CHALLENGES FACING OUR WORLD GROW MORE COMPLEX
The world today thrives on fresh ideas, innovative solutions, and visionary leaders who can shape them into reality. These leaders are modern entrepreneurs of all kinds, who not only create their own personal wealth but also a wealth of opportunities for others. They build new enterprises and grow existing ones. They can be found everywhere, from major cities to various communities around the world, passionately pursuing their work for themselves and for others. Often innovating to create economic and social value, these modern entrepreneurs transform passions into possibilities and turn ideas into creations. This is especially true in today’s globally connected environment, and it is more evident in Asia than anywhere else. With the region emerging as a new global center of commerce, these modern entrepreneurs have increasingly been the driving force behind Asia’s progress. In this rapidly changing world, it is clear that entrepreneurial activity is more fundamental than ever to our ability to meet the multitude of challenges that we face today, as well as to manage those challenges that we anticipate for tomorrow.
“In the high-paced, dynamic Southeast Asia, Thailand strategically stands at the center of the changes and developments that bring new opportunities to the region. In business, those who are best equipped to capitalize on such opportunities will lead this exciting era. However, to prepare themselves, the would-be business leaders may find that the traditional approach to business education and training is no longer sufficient. The business education that will be most effective in today’s highly competitive environment will focus more on preparing people to do things differently, to dare to be entrepreneurial while being intelligently informed and appropriately equipped to handle uncertainty. For these reasons, entrepreneurship should lie at the core of modern business education. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak Chairman, Board of Trustees Bangkok University
At Bangkok University’s School of Entrepreneurship and Management (BUSEM), we expressly focus on the training of modern entrepreneurs who will thrive in an environment that is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. Recognizing that entrepreneurship is a powerful force that drives change and creation, Bangkok University – in partnership with Babson College, the #1 in entrepreneurship education – has founded BUSEM. This partnership represents our unique contribution to this increasingly important, yet under-served field of study. While the teaching of entrepreneurial concepts can be found in various business school programs, it is typically dispersed over several courses – without the priority it requires in order to make a lasting impact. At BUSEM, we take a different approach by coherently focusing the most advanced entrepreneurial learning process as the core of the program. BUSEM and Babson College share the basic conviction that the ability to think and act entrepreneurially can be trained and nurtured. As such, BUSEM’s one-year Master of Management in Entrepreneurship (MME) degree has been uniquely designed in collaboration with Babson to take advantage of their highly proven teaching methodology, which emphasizes an effective mix of interdisciplinary courses and simultaneous real-life co-curricular experiences. Through our oneyear program, BUSEM MME students develop a new mindset and acquire cuttingedge tools so that they have the skills to employ Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® to achieve outstanding results in the increasingly unpredictable environment that we now live in.
WHO ARE BUSEM MMEs?
We see our degree candidates as modern entrepreneurs who are committed to making a real difference in whatever they set out to achieve. They are involved in a variety of enterprises, from family-owned businesses to large professional organizations. Regardless of which enterprise type, a common thread among our candidates is their desire and passion to grow or start new entrepreneurial ventures of any kind. They are dynamic, well-informed and highly skilled individuals who want to create, innovate, and drive change. They are visionary leaders, capable of expanding possibilities and making new realities. They are BUSEM MMEs.
ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?
BABSON INVENTED IT’S METHODOLOGY —ENTREPRENEURIAL THOUGHT AND ACTION®— FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION NEARLY HALF A CENTURY AGO. Babson College is internationally recognized as the global leader for entrepreneurship education. It was the first institution to make a strategic commitment to entrepreneurship education in the 1970’s and currently has the largest dedicated faculty of entrepreneurship educators in the world. To Babson, living and learning entrepreneurship is tradition.
An entrepreneurial leader is skilled in assessing their operational environment and makes decisions based on what is available, not on a wish list. Our pedagogy is built on predictive and creative logic. When predicting makes sense, then predict. But when you can’t predict the future with any level of certainty, then use CreAction a combination of creation and action. This is the core of the Babson-powered Master of Management in Entrepreneurship, which combines the two through the teaching of Entrepreneurial Thought and Action®. Dr. Leonard A. Schlesinger President Babson College
Babson’s mission is to educate entrepreneurial leaders who create great economic and social value — everywhere. Their groundbreaking curriculum has been internationally recognized for innovation and excellence for decades. They are the preeminent institution in the world for Entrepreneurial Thought and Action®—and are known for it.

THE BANGKOK UNIVERSITY – BABSON COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP A UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP BORN OF HERITAGE AND THE COMMON BELIEF IN THE POWER OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP. The relationship between Bangkok University and Babson College is firmly rooted in history. It began in 1967 when Bangkok University’s founder, the late Mr. Surat Osathanugrah, became the first Thai student to ever attend class at Babson. Highly regarded as one of Thailand’s most successful entrepreneurs and philanthropists, Mr. Osathanugrah later saw a unique opportunity for Bangkok University to work with Babson in order to pioneer an entrepreneurship-centric business education that, in his view, would be vital to Thailand’s sustainable economic development. Today, his vision manifests in the Bangkok University - Babson College Partnership that represents the most important milestone of our two institutions’ collaboration.
“My father’s vision of creating Bangkok University, one of the first and foremost institutions of higher learning in Thailand, for the specific purpose of developing outstanding individuals for the business-world is entirely synonymous with Babson’s vision. They are founded on the principle of gaining hands-on learning experiences guided by seasoned business practitioners, with a curriculum that focuses on achieving practical knowledge. This vision grows stronger today, as can be seen in our intent to provide the best entrepreneurship program possible. BUSEM aims to develop graduates who benefit from the combination of both of our institutions’ heritage in creativity and entrepreneurship, a unique combination that cannot be found anywhere else, and whose proponents will become a force for economic and social value creation in the world.” Mr. Petch Osathanugrah Chairman of the Executive Board Bangkok University
BUSEM: THAILAND’S FIRST AND ONLY INSTITUTION TO OFFER A SPECIALIZED MASTER’S DEGREE IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP As Babson’s exclusive partner in Thailand, Bangkok University’s leaders and faculties have collaborated closely with their Babson counterparts in the design of the MME program. This includes the program’s development strategy, the Babson-based MME curriculum, co-teaching & faculty development, as well as its highly important, integrated co-curricular facilities - such as the B 3 Incubation Center. As a result, BUSEM’s MME is the first seed of this dynamic partnership and is fully equipped to provide the most advanced entrepreneurship education in Thailand.
“Bangkok University is proud to share our vision of excellence in entrepreneurship for the advancement of knowledge and progression of social growth. The BU School of Entrepreneurship and Management, our newest academic faculty, is a testament to the strategic commitment that our institution has made towards affecting positive change around us. We have chosen to partner with Babson College in order to harness the world’s best practices in entrepreneurship education, and are pleased to be in a unique position to deliver this expertise exclusively in Thailand. We are excited to offer the MME program and believe it will succeed in providing a vibrant environment that is a catalyst to growth and future opportunities for everyone.” Dr. Mathana Santiwat President Bangkok University
“We are excited that Bangkok University has launched the Master of Management in Entrepreneurship program. Unlike the MBA, this Master’s degree program is designed for those who aspire to be “job creators” by creating new ventures that create economic and social value. Even those who choose not to start a new venture will be imbued with Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® -- a mindset and an orientation to action that will make them more employable. As a member of the Babson - sponsored Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education (GCEE), Bangkok University will be using a state-of-the-art curriculum designed by Babson faculty. This makes the MME one of the most advanced entrepreneurship programs in the world.” Dr. Shahid Ansari Provost Babson College
The MME is strategically supported by two synergistic components that help ensure its long-term success. These distinctive strengths form a permanent platform to continually deliver the best entrepreneurship education possible. The two components are Bangkok University’s memberships in the Babsonfounded Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education (GCEE), and the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) research collaboration.
BANGKOK UNIVERSITY: THAILAND’S EXCLUSIVE MEMBER OF THE GLOBAL CONSORTIUM FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION (GCEE) As Thailand’s exclusive GCEE member, BUSEM works with an international consortium of like-minded institutions that are active in advancing modern entrepreneurship education. Through the Babson-initiated GCEE, BUSEM benefits from sharing best practices with leading entrepreneurial institutions around the globe. For example, BUSEM’s MME program has benefited from the collective experience and knowledge of these GCEE member institutions. Other prevalent GCEE-sponsored activities, such as faculty and student exchanges, also enhance BUSEM’s various undertakings.
BANGKOK UNIVERSITY: THAILAND’S EXCLUSIVE RESEARCHER OF THE GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP MONITOR (GEM) A premier academic program must maintain active research components in order to sustain itself. Cutting-edge research enriches our students’ learning experience with up-to-date knowledge and insights while helping our faculty to keep abreast of developments in the field. GEM, originally founded as a joint venture between Babson and the London Business School, has been the leading global research network dedicated to conducting collaborative research in entrepreneurship. Identifying research as a key enabler and top priority of the MME program, Bangkok University has become the exclusive affiliate and conductor of the GEM projects in Thailand. BUSEM’s faculty collaborates with the GEM global network to conduct exclusive research projects on current issues and future trends in entrepreneurship that yield practical implications. By sharing research results between GEM members around the world, BUSEM is able to renew and reshape the curriculum and various aspects of the MME program so that it stays relevant and at the forefront of the entrepreneurship field of study. This is vital since our economic and social realities move too quickly for us to simply rely on yesterday’s knowledge that may no longer be applicable tomorrow. When put together, the GCEE & GEM represent two components that ensure BUSEM’s future as a world-class entrepreneurship institution.
MME:THE PHILOSOPHY AND THE CURRICULUM BUSEM’s basic philosophy in delivering the MME Program is simple: The ability to think and act entrepreneurially is critical to the long-term success of any modern enterprise - whether independently, with family, or even from within large bureaucratic organizations.
“To be an entrepreneur, one needs to be equipped with an appropriate set of knowledge, for example, marketing, accounting, and finance, among others. Business students typically rely on such knowledge to do abusiness plan exercise. But to actually launch a new business venture, that is not quite sufficient. It is the dynamic entrepreneurial activity which leads to the creation of sound business ideas that must come first before a plan can be formulated. The MME program focuses on this critical aspect of business creation. This means at BUSEM we begin with the individuals, the would-be entrepreneurs, rather than the business. Our goal is to help MME students gain the mindset, the skills, and the abilities required of the entrepreneurial process which will then allow them to effectively leverage the knowledge to build and grow successful businesses. Dr. Uttama Savanayana Senior Vice President, Bangkok University Executive Director, Bangkok University School of Entrepreneurship and Management
Every successful venture starts with a vision. At BUSEM, you will find creativity for innovation, internationally best-of-breed practices, supportive research, insight and counsel from industry professionals – in an environment that is most conducive to developing Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® that turns potential opportunities into sustainable long-term business growth. The MME has been created with the purposeful assembling of resources that precisely enables the delivery of the program’s maximum potential. The program not only benefits from Babson’s experience and worldwide curriculum partnership, it also gains from the key insights of prominent business leaders and visionary entrepreneurs. For example, BUSEM enjoys the support and guidance of extraordinary individuals such as Khun Chartsiri Sophonpanich (President, Bangkok Bank), Khun Supachai Chearavanont (CEO, True Corporation), and Khun Sara Lamsam (President, MuangThai Life Insurance), who are actively engaged members of Bangkok University’s board of trustees. These leaders have helped to define our philosophy and collective vision. For these reasons, the MME is highly progressive as an educational program that is relevant in both global & local contexts.
“Successful entrepreneurs not only face the challenge of starting a business but they also need to ensure its longevity. This challenge is particularly acute for third-generation owner-entrepreneurs who must refresh the organization and steer the business towards new growth. In today’s dynamic environment, it is no longer enough to tap into the business wisdom and insight of their forebears. To overcome challenges and grow a business, owners must therefore constantly strive for new knowledge and seek to acquire capabilities that will help them take action decisively and prudently. Regardless of which generation they come from, modern business owners, aided by accumulated internal wisdom, need to foster an entrepreneurial drive and effectively utilize up-to-date knowledge, skills and tools that can help them build a prosperous and enduring business.” Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich President, Bangkok Bank
As a result, BUSEM is able to provide both resources and deep insight to a wide range of contexts. Experienced entrepreneurs and businesspeople know that having the foresight for change is just the beginning. An entrepreneurial leader must be ready to innovate and overcome challenges in a multitude of dimensions, whilst navigating the unknown with confidence. BUSEM’s philosophy means that the MME program is uniquely delivered in a way that ensures that our students don’t just learn about entrepreneurship. Our philosophy results in a process that nurtures our students to become entrepreneurs.
“The MME program has a clear direction and a solid basis of instruction that should create entrepreneurs and business owners with stability. It has an excellent curriculum that is much different to any other, in that there is a strong practical component that any future business owner or family business successor would stand to benefit from. Not only do you gain invaluable industry experience alongside a business trainer, but you also get a Master’s degree – from any perspective, this program is both interesting and challenging at once. Yet I am confident that with the Babson method, it can be accomplished.” Mr. Somchai Harnjitkasem Managing Director, MK Restaurants
EXPLORE DISCOVER PURSUE LAUNCH Our philosophy at BUSEM offers a uniquely crafted education process that aims to simultaneously provide foundational knowledge, deep insight and personal experiences required of business managing-owners and top-level executives. As such, the degree plan blends classroom theory (curricular courses) with actual start-up venture development (co-curricular practicums). We devote over half of the program out of the classroom building a real, functional business of your choice, making it the most specialized course available that is customized specifically for future business owners. The key difference found in the MME lies in its entrepreneurial approach toward traditional business practices. Most importantly, the program is designed to encourage a high-level of participation and personal involvement, placing our students in an environment which constantly inspires them to be motivated, curious, and therefore willing to take the necessary risks that result in new experiences and applicable knowledge that will drive
them towards identifying and creating new opportunities. By this approach, MME candidates develop strong foundational business skills that help them to effectively think and act entrepreneurially in various situations. This ability is crucially enhanced by our practicum sections, which provide the platform where a combination of leading academics and custom-selected industry mentors guide venture projects on an individual basis. Throughout the practicums, our students will be equipped with the critical skills and knowledge that will shield them from the most common pitfalls typically experienced by entrepreneurs in their new business ventures. Be ready to build a company from just an idea – complete with research support and devoted advisory from the best in the business, from both the academic and professional worlds. To effectively deliver both the curricular and co-curricular components that are the hallmark of our program, the Master of Management in Entrepreneurship graduate degree program contains 13 courses divided into four modules, beginning in January and completing a year later in December. Degree candidates will start their journey by laying new foundations at BUSEM from January to May, thereafter spending June & July studying at Babson College in Boston, USA. MME participants will then return to BUSEM to finish the program with the ultimate goal of readying their business ventures for the market.
“BUSEM offers you the opportunity to learn from top-class faculty and gain real world experience. The applied learning at BUSEM is the type that is integral to people who succeed. While BUSEM covers theory, the focus is on doing. It takes a certain courage, tenacity, creative problem solving, and vision to actually launch a venture. BUSEM inspires and instills those qualities in its students. Dr. Pichit Akrathit Executive Director Bangkok University School of Entrepreneurship and Management

APPLICATION PROCEDURE All prospective students are encouraged to contact the BUSEM admissions team as soon as possible to start a dialogue to learn more about the program or arrange an invitation to visit our campus. The selection process begins from the first moment any information is exchanged between an applicant and BUSEM. Once we receive the required documents from an applicant, the admissions committee assesses the applicant’s candidacy as compared to the overall pool of candidates during each round of admission. Selected candidates will be invited in for an interview, which will be considered the most important factor towards the admission decision. BUSEM offers placements in the program four times each year, occurring at the end of the months of May, July, September and November. Consideration is given equally to all applicants who apply during the same round and is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. After the conclusion of each round of admission, an applicant may either be accepted, declined, or wait-listed until the final period of review ending in November.
