• Marketing Our IY1 course is the first year of a business management and finance related degree. You will learn core subjects relating to management, economics and accounting. On successful completion, you will continue onto the second year of your chosen undergraduate degree with Bangor Business School.

WHAT WILL I STUDY? You will study a number of modules throughout the duration of your course.
Core modules include:
Business Project and Study Skills In this module you will develop and apply academic and study skills, including the skills of synthesising source material, presenting analysis and production of a final extended research essay with bibliography, and the delivery of a group-based presentation.
Financial and Management Accounting In financial accounting you will study the principles and practice of doubleentry bookkeeping, as well as developing a broader understanding of accounting concepts, principles and conventions. You will learn how to record transactions and prepare annual financial statements; and how to analyse, interpret and communicate the information contained in financial statements, and explain their limitations.
Introduction to Business and Marketing This module provides an understanding of a range of activities associated with corporate, operational, functional aims, objectives, strategies and strategic decision making. Topics include tactical decision making, operational management, human resource management or managing people, organisational structures, managing change, and the relationship between management, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
Introduction to Economics In microeconomics you will examine the workings of the free-market economy, and see how economic decisions in respect of the allocation of scarce resources are shaped by market forces through the interactions between demand and supply. Production and cost theory, and the economic theory of the firm are examined, and you will debate the role of government in safeguarding the interests of consumers and producers, promoting competition, and improving efficiency. mathematical equations and use mathematics as a tool for decision-making in business, management and finance. You will learn how to describe data using graphical and numerical methods, and use probability to describe situations of uncertainty.
