Volunteer Get Involved Make A Difference Change A Life

You’re Important Volunteers have been the foundation of BaptistCare since it began 70 years ago. As our committed volunteers continue to support and extend the work of paid staff, the rich legacy continues. The time so generously shared by our volunteer community means that our clients and residents receive life-changing benefits. They enjoy increased independence, new friendships, and ongoing contact with people who care. Of course, our volunteers are supported too. As a BaptistCare volunteer, you will receive: • Orientation and ongoing training

opportunities. • Support and supervision by a Service Volunteer

Coordinator. • Regular information and updates through

our BaptistCare magazine and E-newsletter.

Enjoy Satisfaction Volunteering isn’t a one-way street. It offers you the chance to reap many rewards, including: •

Making a positive difference for someone else.

Using and sharing your skills & knowledge.

Forming new friendships and meeting new people.

Having fun while enjoying new experiences.

Participating in your local community.

Enjoy Flexibility Your time is valuable and we understand that flexibility is important to volunteers. That’s why you can choose to work a couple of hours each week, fortnight or month – whatever suits you. And if you can’t commit to that, you can still help! Our volunteers often sign up for one-off events or volunteer as required. Alternatively, you might prefer to be part of a youth, church, community or group volunteer project. These projects, which occur regularly in response to client needs, encourage team cohesion and are guaranteed to be fun. If you have a moment to spare, we’d love to hear from you.

Enjoy Variety We understand that everyone has something different to give – and it’s this diversity that makes our thriving communities so special. Whatever your interests may be, there are a variety of volunteer opportunities to choose from. These include: •

Companionship and conversation with a resident in one of our aged care facilities.

Participating in various craft, music and group activities in one of our aged care facilities.

Visiting a Home Services client for a chat and cup of tea.

Taking a Home Services client shopping or to an appointment.

Cooking a BBQ.

Driving a mini-bus/car and taking residents on short outings.

Project and event support.

Group volunteering, including painting or gardening.

A variety of other contributions that can be tailored to your skills and experience.

“Volunteers don’t necessarily have the time: they just have the heart.”

Elizabeth Andrew

BaptistCare wouldn’t be here without the generosity of its volunteers. In fact, our organisation owes its existence to a small group of committed people who generously donated their time and money in the 1940s and ‘50s to help establish homes for children and the elderly. We want to continue their legacy – and we need your help.
