2014 Spirit of MagnetMagnet Physician Nomination Information It is time again to honor our physician colleagues through our annual

Spirit of Magnet award.

This

award has grown out of our collaborative Magnet work over the past few years. This has become a highly valued tradition among our medical staff. This is the chance for our nurses and other caregivers to honor those physicians we believe exemplify the characteristics of a collaborative partner. We will announce the winners on Doctor Appreciation Day March 30th.

About the

Spirit of Magnet award

Eligible: Physicians on active staff at any Baptist Hospital or in the Baptist Primary Care or Physician Network. Criteria: Physician must exemplify any or all of these Magnet characteristics: • Professional collaboration • Teaching/sharing knowledge • Compassionate care • Quality evidence-based patient care Who can nominate: Any non-physician staff can nominate by completing the on-line nomination form. Physicians may have multiple nominations by multiple staffs. How to nominate: Visit the employee home page-you will find Spirit of Magnet Nominations in the center of the page. You can also go to the Spirit of Magnet webpage and learn about prior winners, etc. http://survey.e-baptisthealth.com/opinio/s?s=12459 How is the selection made: Nominations will be reviewed by the selection committee (Shared Governance representatives, Nurse Executives, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Director and leadership of Baptist Primary Care) and winners will be announced for each hospital, Home Health Care and Baptist Physician Services (primary care and specialty services). Winners will be announced on Doctor’s Day, March 30th and in the April Physician Leadership meetings.

Dear Physicians: Here are your monthly 'Tips' for February from the Clinical Documentation Improvement team. ICD-10 implementation is fast approaching so we need to step up our education by having multiple diagnoses in our monthly ‘TIP’. The topics are Back Deformities, Osteoporosis and Effects, Nontraumatic Fractures & Meniscus Diseases.’ These 'TIPS' are provided in effort to assist you as we move toward the new documentation requirements. They will be stored on the Physician Portal as reference tool. Please incorporate these “TIPS’ in your documentation starting now! Back Deformities -Name the condition, deformity, and part of spine involved -For scoliosis, identify part of spine involved and age at origin: --Congenital --Infantile --Juvenile --Adolescent --Adult Osteoporosis and Effects -Identify: --With current pathological fracture --Without current pathological fracture --History of pathological fracture -Name the bone fractured and laterality, as appropriate -Identify if age-related osteoporosis vs. other specific cause (e.g., chronic steroid use, vitamin deficiency) Nontraumatic Fractures -Name the cause (stress, pathological, neoplasm) -Identify the bone fractured -For vertebrae, specify whether fatigue fracture or vertebral collapse and region of spine -Specify whether initial or subsequent encounter -Identify when routine healing, delayed healing, nonunion, malunion Meniscus Diseases -Identify disease state, if applicable


-Identify laterality -Identify anterior or posterior horn or bucket handle -Identify when due to old trauma or acute
