FESTIVAL INFO FESTIVAL STORE & HOSPITALITY

Located in the Sheridan Opera House, the Festival Store & Hospitality is the place to pick up your 3-Day Passes or 6-Packs and purchase official H Telluride Horror Show merchandise.

STARTING TIMES

THEATERS, LINES, AND INDIVIDUAL TICKETS

Films screen at the Nugget Theatre, Palm Theatre, and Sheridan Opera House. There are two lines at each venue: 1) Pass holders & 6-Pack ticket holders. 2) The line to buy an individual ticket. Individual tickets are $15 per person, unless otherwise noted. Individual tickets are only sold at the door and after all pass holders & 6-Pack ticket holders have been admitted.

THE Q SYSTEM

TBAS (To be announced)

We will post any TBAs at the Nugget Theatre, Palm Theatre, Sheridan Opera House, and online. N . OA K

If lines start to form at the theaters, our staff may issue Q tickets. Qs are handed out so we can determine how many people are waiting in line for a film. This tells us if we’re going to reach capacity for a show and if we need to tell those at the end of the line to go to another theater. Regardless, if there is a particular program that you really want to see, we highly recommend getting in line at the venue in advance to avoid being turned away to another venue due to a sold-out show.

Doors open 15 minutes before show time. We ask that all 3-Day pass holders & 6-Pack ticket holders arrive no later than 10 minutes before show times. If there are empty seats at the start of a program, we will assume that they are available to release to the general public. We cannot let people into a theater once the film has started. This applies to ALL 3-Day pass holders, 6-Pack ticket holders and individual ticket buyers. Please don’t be late!

SPECIAL GUESTS JOE BOB BRIGGS

SPECIAL GUEST Joe Bob Briggs is a nationally syndicated “drive-in movie critic” whose wisecracking take on exploitation and genre films was featured on two long-running late-night television shows, Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater on The Movie Channel and MonsterVision on TNT. That tradition continues with his latest series, The Last Drive-In, currently featured on AMC’s Shudder. He has appeared in several movies, including Casino, Face/Off, and Great Balls of Fire, and was a special commentator for The Daily Show for two years. Joe Bob is currently touring with his critically acclaimed comedy lecture “How Rednecks Saved Hollywood,” a one-man multi-media presentation that traces the entire history of the redneck, as told through movies, from 16th-century Scotland to the present. Joe Bob Briggs brings his “How Rednecks Saved Hollywood” show to the Telluride Horror Show and will host a special presentation of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, one of the best redneck movies of all time. KELLY LINK

GUEST AUTHOR Kelly Link is the author of the collections Stranger Things Happen, Magic for Beginners, Pretty Monsters, and Pulitzer finalist Get in Trouble. Her short stories have been published in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, The Best American Short Stories, and Prize Stories: The O. Henry Awards. She and her partner Gavin J. Grant have co-edited a number of anthologies, including multiple volumes of The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror and, for young adults, Steampunk! and Monstrous Affections. She is the co-founder of Small Beer Press and co-edits the occasional zine Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet. She once won a free trip around the world by answering “Because you can’t go through it” to the question “Why do you want to go around the world?” Link currently lives with her husband and daughter in Northampton, Massachusetts. Kelly Link joins the Telluride Horror Show as the 2019 guest author and will participate in a public reading, conversation, and book signing.

4

JEREMY ROBERT JOHNSON

GUEST AUTHOR Jeremy Robert Johnson is the author of the critically acclaimed Entropy in Bloom, In the River, as well as the breakthrough cult novel Skullcrack City. His fiction has been praised by The Washington Post and Publishers Weekly, authors such as David Wong, Chuck Palahniuk and Jack Ketchum, and has appeared internationally in numerous anthologies and magazines. Jeremy Robert Johnson returns to this year’s Telluride Horror Show to host a conversation with guest author Kelly Link and will participate in a public reading and book signing. ELI CRAIG

GUEST DIRECTOR Growing up in LA, Eli Craig enjoyed watching bloodsplattered B-movies and ridiculing the Hollywood elite. With no desire to go into show business, Craig ski bummed in Crested Butte (Telluride’s neighboring ski town) and worked as a mountain guide. But after enough time spent shoveling snow off roofs as a ski bum, it was off to USC graduate school where he studied screenwriting and filmmaking. After writing and directing the award-winning short film, THE TAO OF PONG, Craig teamed up with fellow USC student Morgan Jurgenson to co-write his first feature film, TUCKER & DALE vs. EVIL, directed by Craig, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival and is often voted in the top 10 funniest horror comedies of all time. He also wrote & directed the Netflix horror comedy, LITTLE EVIL, starring Adam Scott & Evangeline Lilly (which some people liked as well). He is currently developing a half-hour comedy-horror with Blumhouse and Red Hour Films (Ben Stiller’s company) to be distributed on Amazon Prime. He is also developing his third feature film with Mandalay Pictures and Argent Media. Craig may not ridicule the Hollywood elite as much these days, but he avoids them by spending his time recycling and composting in North Vancouver, BC with his wife, two kids, dog and frequently visiting mother-in-law. Eli Craig joins the Telluride Horror Show for a special presentation of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil and will participate in a conversation following the film, hosted by Joe Bob Briggs.

JOSHUA HOFFINE

GUEST ARTIST Joshua Hoffine, a pioneer in the subgenre of horror photography, is one of the most recognized photographers in the world. His work has been featured in countless magazines, anthologies, and news outlets, including the horror publications Rue Morgue, Fangoria, Horror Hound, Scream UK, Virus, and Famous Monsters of Filmland. His commercial clients include Sony, AMC Theaters, and The National Opera of Paris. In 2018 Dark Regions Press published a hardbound collection of Hoffine’s horror photographs. Joshua Hoffine will share new work at the Telluride Horror Show and will present a slideshow of his renowned horror photography, along with a teaser for his forthcoming film NIGHT OF THE HATCHET MAN. A limited number of signed prints will be available at the festival. MEREDITH BORDERS

GUEST HOST Meredith Borders is the managing editor for FANGORIA magazine. She lives in Houston, Texas, where she owns City Acre Brewing with her husband Matt. Meredith Borders returns to this year’s Telluride Horror Show to moderate conversations with special guests and visiting filmmakers. DAVID LEE HESS

GUEST HOST David Lee Hess is a musician and actor from Austin, Texas who’s appeared in four Telluride Horror Show films: Frazier Park Recut, Derelicts, Hell No, and Fetish, which Hess also directed. Hess lives in Los Angeles. David Lee Hess returns to the Telluride Horror Show as the guest host for the “Black & Blue Comedy” shorts block.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil was the closing night film at the inaugural Telluride Horror Show in 2010. In 2011, the film still hadn’t been released, so we showed it again at our 2nd Telluride Horror Show, at two venues, to sold-out crowds. Tucker & Dale was a big part of our early years, so we had to bring it back to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary. Director Eli Craig will join us for a special conversation following the film, hosted by the ultimate horror buff and redneck expert Joe Bob Briggs!
