We look forward in welcoming each and everyone to the 17th annual sale at the Head of Class sale. This sale has been great over the years being one that is always been on many individuals “bucket list”. This sale has always been a breeder’s sale, meaning that whether you are looking for an elite show prospect, bred heifer, donor cow, or genetic lot it can be found at the Head of the Class. We realize some of the participants have changed over the years however the Head of the Class does what is right and provides their best from the heart of their operations. Many of the breeders involved have been doing the same for several years breeding consistent and proven genetics. We realize in the Simmental breed you have many choices and there is range of acceptability and each operation or junior program has different needs. Whether you are new comer to the breed or like many involved have come up thru the junior program and continue to fine tune your operation, we want you to consider in studying the genetics at the Head of Class. The Head of Class has been built of some of the breeds best cow families and should be still noticeable in this year’s sale catalog. The genetics included are known for the ability to be consistent and reliable. In the past sales there have been many success stories and shows champions come out of this sale event. Whether you are searching for that show heifer for next year’s AJSA Nationals in Nebraska or a future breeding piece, check out the catalog. Please call and check in with any or all the participants in the sale. If you have not been to Louisburg in several years, I would encourage you to be in the seats on Sept. 28th. This year the group will have some special doors prizes for those in attendance. You just have to show up to be a winner. Check out the catalog and take notice. If you have any questions on any of the sale lots or any matters pertaining to the Head of the Class please call, text or email. If you are new and want to make sure you are on the catalog mailing list let us know as well. Each individual breeder involved has already made a long time commitment many years ago and they know their product and stand behind 100%. On behalf of DP Sales Management we always look forward to the Head of the Class sale however enjoy witnessing the genetics unfold and work for the new owners. It has been going on for 17th years here in Louisburg and future of breed looks bright. If you are a new generation breeder look up the past history of the Head of the Class sale. See you at the 17th annual sale. Call or contact Drew, Holli or I if we can be of assistance.

• E909 is a female that we have no doubt will produce at the most elite level. Her mother, Knockout Y030 was one of my favorite donors of all time to work with and now our good friends up the road at Shoal Creek are utilizing her as one of their highlight matrons to keep their prominent breeding program at the front of the pack. E909 follows her mothers’ type and kind, being skinny necked, stout hipped, and big legged. Her mating to Clarified will combine the famous Sheza Bonnie and Knockout Y030. Due to calve in just a couple weeks, we will be anxious to see what she can do for her new owners.

The mating here blends together the $65,000 Living Legacy high seller Y030, her famous dam, Knockout 74T and the Ford RJ Dolly Y83 donor that has been steadily making the good ones at Kearns Cattle Co.

• F29, F34 and F23 – We had our sights set on acquiring a daughter of Miss Knockout 74T for a while. Members of the Knockout 74T family have proven to produce high sellers, show winners, and valuable breeding pieces in many of the country’s most progressive breeding programs and when we saw HPF/Borne Knockout Y030 leading the pack at Hudson Pines we made sure we were bidding on her. When we started her embryo production we turned to the consistency of WLE Uno Mas to start with. Uno Mas continues to be as popular as ever for his proven ability to produce high quality progeny and the Uno Mas x Knockout daughters are prime examples of Y030’s ability to transmit a combination of style, power, and functional structure. No matter which you prefer all three combine two of the most sought after cow families in the breed with Knockout 74T and Shawnee Miss 770P in their blood. Not to mention the future mating flexibility these three have as the door is wide open for sire selections after they calve in early March.

• When you take one this good out of the barn that would have been a Bred & Owned for an 11 year and offer her for sale at public auction, trust me, they ARE NOT happy about it. But when the Head of the Class group invited us to be part of the sale last year, the team agreed we would always bring the best we had to offer. G124 is just that, combining femininity, structural integrity, and volume. She’s level topped, square hipped individual that will have her fair share of admirers, wherever she goes. You say phenotype alone isn’t enough for your program? Well we would agree with that statement so check this one out on paper. 20-20 x Duracell x Alley 247Y. Not only a potent pedigree but a balanced EPD profile as well, ranking in the top half of the breed OR HIGHER on 12 traits.

Her daughters have topped numerous sales across the country and have went on to make big impact donors in some of the nations’ most prestigious programs. Added bonus, she’s always been a shaggy haired individual that is sure to be able to pass on these traits into some elite level offspring the same way her mother has always done. HPF Revival D081 may not be a household name just yet, but we’re pretty confident he will be. A son of the famous SS Empriss 302Y (bred and raised right here in Louisburg, KS) this dude is monster bellied, swoopy legged, powerfully constructed and has big time look and style. Be sure to watch for more out of him in the near future.

• If you know me at all, you know exactly where I’m gonna start with this footnote.... that’s right, Butterfly B555. That cow could flat get it done and was one of the most intriguing bovine I have ever been around. A freak in her build in design but yet produced with consistency and potency of a true matron. 10 offspring (both bulls and heifers) in the HPF dispersal averaged over $6,500. Not too shabby. Unfortunately, B555’s life was cut short and those were the last progeny ever produced out of her. However, F266 is opportunity knocking loudly on the door, not only to still yet acquire a B555 daughter, but one of high quality and sired by the popular Mr CCF 20-20.

• A true Head of the Class masterpiece here. Two of the most influential HoC individuals there has been, Sazerac P94 x the immortal Goldmine. Both have written several pages of history, not only in this sale but in the Simmental breed. This baldie HPF Sazerac A332 powerhouse is one exceptional individual. A332 has never had a heifer calf for us and wouldn’t you know, right after we make the decision to commit her to this sale, our vet pregs her safe to the A.I. with a HEIFER CALF. Due solely to our lack of physical space for growth, we have never flushed this Myers Queen Sazerac P94 - reference female but that is about to become our loss and your gain on September 28th. We are going to regret letting this one leave Clinton, IL but once again our commitment to this sale has led us to this decision. If you don’t like seeing grown men cry, you might not wanna look my direction when this one walks in the ring. It will be a sad day for us watching her hop on someone else’s trailer but we will anxiously watch to see the impact she can make on her new owner’s program.

• SS Cottontail 086Z is one of the most powerful and potent members of the Legendary Cottontail cow family. Huge barreled and sappy middled, while being built on a massive skeleton and yet glides with ease around the pasture. To say she works well in transplant is an understatement! She was IVF’d twice, producing XX freezable eggs. We sold a pregnancy last year to Schick/Haefner, she was a top selling heifer for them this spring and has gone on to perform well in the show ring for Webel Cattle Co. The last 2 years the embryo’s by her have averaged over $800! Cottontail 086Z sells with an April heifer calf at side by HILB Oracle, a full sib to the popular Schick/Haefner heifer. This solid black heifer has a TON of potential to compete in the show ring and harness a spot in the donor pen! Open and ready to flush. This pair is worth the drive from anywhere!

• The Lock N Load x Donna mating has become the most proven in the Sandeen program. The breds from this mating have become donors like clockwork in many progressive programs. BF Black Simmentals purchased the Lot #1 female of 2015 Building A Brand sale and are sure she rivals her siblings for best of the Donna tribe. We have partnership daughter of 4232 in our herd that is going into the donor pen. Sons and daughters have brought from $6,000 to $19,000 on only two sire matings. We’ve used Night Watch, Turnpike, Dew North, Ledger, and Counter Attack in 2019 and put thirty plus heifer embryos in our best recipents for a Donna 4232 Explosion in 2020. We have chosen not to sell any embryos but are offering a flush to the bull of your choice. Donna 4232 has averaged 10 on IVF sexed heifer embryos. Fourteen on her only two conventional flushes. Feast your eyes on this incredibly powerful female at the Head of the Class sale and be creative. Guaranteeing six with no limit.

• We think 214A is one of the very best descendants of the great Burn Baby Burn cow. Yes, that is a mouthful but it’s time for you to jump on board because the ride is going to be epic. We could write a novel on all the Burn Baby Burn daughters/sons and how they have gone on to be top producers and cornerstone producers for many across the country but who has time for that? 214A has proven herself every single time in her short stay at our residence. Since acquiring her from the Circle M Dispersal, where her Executive Order heifer calf at side commanded a whopping $21k and went on to collect the purple in Oklahoma, she has also produced a very competitive Blacklist heifer the Chuck Lemenager family of IL has campaigned and this year she spit out a stand out Bottomline bull calf that will sell in January in the J&C Simmental annual bull sale. We have her bred up early to WLE Copacetic and we can hardly withstand the suspense. This cow is a beast! She is freakishly big legged and footed. Her center body and shear mass are second to none and to top it off, she has a beautiful silhouette and baldy face. Selling the right to one flush, guaranteeing 6 transferrable embryos with no cap at buyers’ expense and sellers’ convenience. Did I mention we flushed her once before, while sucking a calf and she froze 34 grade A embryos? Sky’s the limit here. Bid with confidence, even brighter days lay ahead for this dime piece.

• This December born female will slide you into a little softer class but yet has the quality to compete WAY past that. Study her leg structure, fluidity of motion, and overall balance and you will see this heifer is hard to fault. Her mother was shown very successfully by Mabrey, being named Reserve Grand Female at the Illinois State Fair, not once but TWICE. Her quality was admired both as a calf and a senior Yearling, and we believe she is even more impressive now that she is in production. We are confident F72 has and will continue to mature in a similar manor, with the cow power of Right to Love 015U, Jesse K336, and J2 Missy standing firmly behind her.

Because there aren’t many they are the deep, soggy, easy fleshing kind, and as is said wouldn’t you like to have a pasture full of them? Super Cowy. Hope that doesn’t keep them from being a show heifer prospect. Anyone of these girls could be the go to female of the class. You be the judge.

• We purchased the Jass Eclipse 44E Cowboy Cut daughter on the Jewels Of The Northland sale, bred to Dew North 102C and she laid down and gave us a jewel of a heifer in G70. Angus breeders assured me the Angus side is solid going back to 460 Angus cow of Sieks. This 3/4 blood has depth and spring of rib a plenty. She is sound as can be found. Has a small white spot on her head and she comes up gently to show it off. Great disposition.
