3 Dear Friends and Colleagues, Welcome to our twelfth Living Legacy Sale! My Grandfather, David Rockefeller, my husband Robert, the team at Hudson Pines and I all hope that we will see you at Reality Farms in Kentucky on November 13th. The cattle will be available for viewing all of the day before and on the 13th up until the sale, which will start at 4pm sharp. Lunch will be available that day and cocktails and snacks into the evening. Whether you are looking for a donor to build a herd around, some breds that will stand out in the front pasture and give you a quick financial return, a flashy young heifer to show, or some of the hottest genetics available, we are confident that your biggest challenge will be making your pick. This may be our deepest offering of elite purebred and percentage females to date, so don’t miss it! And, if you like the girls you see on November 13th, don’t forget to check out their brothers selling at the Genetic Legacy Bull Sale in Montana on February 13th. I am continually amazed by the work ethic and integrity of our team; they put in endlessly long hours, not to mention their hearts and minds, to care for both our cattle and our customers in the way that we believe is right. Grandpa, Robert and I are so grateful to everyone who has been involved in helping us continue the Hudson Pines program and in making sure that we remain at the forefront of the industry’s efforts to continually improve the Simmental breed. Most especially we owe our thanks to John and Cheryl Walston, Ryan and Megan Haefner, Tyler Babbs, Ryan Long, Jeff Queckboerner, and Josh, Angela, Jericho and Jordan Chappa. And thank you to all of you, our customers and friends, for your continued interest and support. As the world seems to get ever crazier, thank heavens for cattle and for the good times we have together! Sincerely, Miranda Kaiser

HPF/Borne Knockout Y030, what a way to start The Living Legacy XII! It will be a sad day in Sleepy Hollow when this cow loads the bus for Campbellsburg, KY. Since the day she hit the ground here, this star-headed powerhouse has been a favorite of many. She began her journey by commanding $27,000 for 1/2 interest in The Living Legacy VII going to B&K and Arnold Farms. Shortly after, she took a stroll on the green shavings in Louisville and claimed Reserve Grand Champion Female as a calf. Although she always looked good wearing a halter, we knew her true day of glory would be as a donor. Math has never been our strong suit, but at our best count, she is running an average of just over $9,500 per head on 13 offspring that have stepped into a sale ring. Not too shabby for a female that isn’t even 6 years old yet. Style, power, structure, proven consistency, all bundled up in a Dream On free package. Averaging over 14 good embryos in IVF, we strongly believe Y030 has the ability to make a big impact in her new home and in the future of the Simmental breed. The matriarchs in this breed that are elegant enough to turn out females that can do what we do, yet authoritative enough to make bulls that work for purebred and commercial operations alike, are few and far between. Y030 is due to calve right around the first of November to HPF Fast Track A361 and should be ready to crank out embryos shortly thereafter. Buy with confidence here... no strings attached, no loopholes, no hold-ups.... just a great young female that knows how to get the job done. Owned with B&K Farms and Arnold Farms

These flush sisters are proof of Y030’s ability to produce. 245D and 94D are square hipped, good looking, and correct at the ground. These are two powerfully built baldie females by Hooks Broadway that couple good looks and balanced EPD profiles. Both 245D and 94D also have attitudes that are suited for the youngest of exhibitors. While they should be fun to lead in a circle for the short term, just imagine the long term mating flexibility on these females once they hit production! HPF will retain 50% embryo interest in HPF Knockout 245D.

If you still need more convincing to hop on the Y030 train, check out these young divas. 378D and 379D are the kind of purebreds that can stand in a multi-breed Supreme line up at a state fair or jackpot show and look the part. Long, skinny necks that come out of the highest point of their shoulders yet still having enough softness of belly, 378 and 379 only strengthen our previous statements about their distinctive mother. A dab of chrome to get them a little extra attention and these two beauties will be hard to miss, no matter their surroundings.

Who doesn’t love a good BC Lookout daughter? Moderate framed, monster barrelled, and stout made at the ground, X339 has unlimited potential, no matter the kind you like to breed in your program. We have been using X339 mostly to create higher percentage cattle with structural integrity, volume, and do-ability while maintaining an attractive profile and wow, has she been good at it. With over a $10,000 per head average on her offspring to date and with a few more still on the way, HPF has and will continue to do the heavy lifting on this dominant donor so that all her new owner will need to do is sign the back of their checks. X339 averages right at 10 embryos per flush. Called most likely safe to A.I. Owned with Bornemann Simmentals Bred AI to HPF Fast Track A361, ASA#2837087 on 3/27/16. Heifer semen. This stripe-faced percentage female is big boned, big hipped, and big bodied. C086 is also good topped and level in her underline. The reports we are getting on the Select Sires bull HPF Optimizer A512 have been very positive and his EPD profile continues to get even better as more calves are reported. Owned with Bornemann Simmentals

276D and D015 - These two X339 daughters by Wheelman may be a little different in their blueprints but both are extremely high quality. 276D is a nickel flatter made and softer bellied while D015 is bigger legged and stouter muscled when studied from behind. Both 276 and 015 offer tremendous neck/shoulder junctures and are extremely attractive in their front 1/3. Having inherited a shot of power from their mother and their father’s jaw dropping good looks (much like Adlee), 276D and D015 will be easy to find on November 13th. HPF Empriss A045, daughter of 302Y

We were ecstatic the day we purchased 302Y out of the Head of the Class sale for $10,000 as an open female. We knew she had all the proper accoutrama and the no-miss cow family we needed to build into a cornerstone 1/2 blood donor. Her first natural calf by Shock Force was a steal at $8,750 to Humphrey’s in IL. Her first ET daughters by Milestone were Living Legacy X highlights at $17,500 and $19,000 to 4th Meridian Farms and Guthridge/Janssen. Her next natural calf, HPF Protest B087, was the Genetic Legacy Bull sale standout commanding $32,000 going to Willers Mitten Brand in NE. And as only a 6 year old, this moose is just getting warmed up. We have no doubt her daughters following her in this catalog will make plenty of acquaintances on sale day and we are confident 302Y has many more chapters to write. Darrin still tries to convince us we missed the fine print the day they sold her and we only own 1/2 interest but we’re not buying it! One thing is for sure, there will be no fine print November 13th, she will sell 100% in her entirety with an October born RB/GF/ HPF Exposition calf at side and a lifetime average of 12 good embryos per flush.

As The Queen herself is no longer with us, this will more than likely be your last chance to own a direct daughter of Sazerac P94 herself. These two bred heifers by Cowboy Cut are ones we should definitely be putting back in the herd but we have several P94 daughters hard at work for us and wanted to share the love. The versatility of these 3/4 blood pedigrees leave the door wide open for mating options down the road. The $40,000 selection for Bonnell, Rasmussen, and Stonewall from last year’s sale continues to impress us. This Upper Class daughter is the result of purchased embryos by TarrNation from our Online Embryo Event in the spring. And, as I told Stan when he called during the sale to ask what I thought they were worth, “W94B just doesn’t miss.” Z18 proves me right yet again - don’t act surprised. Of course it’s hard to miss when you combine two of the most influential Meyer 734 cows the breed has ever seen in Queen Sazerac P94 and Sandeen Donna 7386. This full sister to the popular Eggersman/Bonnell donor, HPF Sazerac Z074, who was Grand Champion Female at the 2014 Junior Nationals in Louisville, is one to give serious consideration. Much like her sister, 283D may be a little slower in her maturity and development, but that worked out alright for Z074 in the end. With the correct structure and framework, along with an older sister who has already paved the way for marketing, 283D has a very bright future.

338D offers a little different twist on the Sazerac cow family. Last year we spent the month of February on the road searching for “the bull.” Dozer, aka “Mikey”, was phenotypically one of the most impressive we saw in all our travels. Although we weren’t quite stout enough that day to get him bought, we made sure our name was at the top of the list to get semen. After getting gems like 338, we will continue to use him more. Flat shouldered, up-headed, and angular, this late March baby may be young but is continuously doing all the right things for this stage in the game.

The kind that you don’t have to add the “... for a Simmental” at the end of your statement are always fun to own.

Victoria W02 has always been one of our favorite donors to work with and it’s Victoria W02, or Brightie as we call her, has always been one of our favorite donors to work with and it’s because of her ability to produce females like D017. W02’s because of her ability to produce females that look like D004 and D017. They daughters are stout enough to produce bulls yet feminine and fancy enough to be and to produce champions. D017 is ideal in her framework, capacious in her design, and are stout enough to produce bulls yet feminine and fancy enough to be and to proper in her overall make-up, just like her flush brother who was one of the most impressive bulls we recently loaded on the semi to Montana for our February 13th Genetic produce champions. Two baldie females that have been in the “Jenny Craig” pen Legacy Bull Sale. This 3/4 blood direct Sazerac daughter will sell in her entirety with a stout made, rocket necked, baldy heifer calf at side born 10-2-16 sired by HPF Fast since early on, D004 and D017 are easy keeping and will make low maintenance, Track A361. She has a lifetime average of 6 good embryos per flush and will be ready to start shots by the time you get your buyers number put back in your pocket. If high return females when their days of wearing a leather halter come to an end. you’re in need of a donor that can make them with style, structure, hair, and a dab of chrome, both Victoria W02 and D017 should rank high on your list.

Lucky Girl 73A was our $52,000 selection with Janssen and Guthridge from Gerdes’ Buckles and Banners sale a couple of years ago. Just a few weeks later she went on to be named Calf Champion at the North American. A daughter of the esteemed 8543U and the outcross sire Sure Bet, we are just beginning to tap into this female’s true potential. These two bred females, sired by Milestone and Hammer, will continue to carry the torch for this decorated cow family and we are confident in their ability to produce. The Milestone daughters have proven they know how to generate dollars and with the look and marketability of the Hammer cattle, either of these breds will make very sound long term investments.

302D, 240D, and 291D– This trio of sisters will give you something to study. 302D... if one shot of 8543U is good, two must be better. CJ thought Guthridge and I were crazy when we dreamed up this idea but I don’t know if he’ll admit that seeing 302D now. Good hipped, big bellied, and flat necked, we think you’ll find her rather quickly. 240D may be the softest centered of the trio and possibly offers the most variety in pedigree. By crossing 73A with the newest JF sire, we have rolled up Onyx, Perfection, 14P, and 8543U into one potent little package. And a 3/4 blood to round out this set, 291D possesses the most length and cleanliness of neck of the three sisters. When we saw Womack as a calf in Denver, we immediately fell in love. Although we try to use higher percentage bulls, we couldn’t deny the qualities he had and how well he would work on some of our purebred cows. There is a little something for everyone in this cow family, so study these sisters carefully and pick the one that can best take your program in the direction you desire. 372D, 311D, and 97D – On 3, everyone name your favorite red Simmental donor....1, 2, 3.. Alley. What’s that, Sierra? We will accept that answer as well. The fact is, due to a little older breed matriarch by the name of Jasmine 240J, both Sierra and Alley are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do work. Darrin said it best in the Head of the Class catalog and if I’ve learned one thing from working with him the past couple years, don’t even try to outdo him. And I quote, “It’s hard to make the trip to the National Western Stock Show in Denver and be named Grand Champion female, its even harder to retire to the donor pen and produce like a Champion should!” But Alley 247Y has done just that. By our records, she’s running just a shade over a $12,000 per head average, putting future donors in the programs of Tylertown, Haley, Belcher, Double J, Ivie, Sublette, JS, Rust Mountain, Black Gold, Bohrson, Bramlet, Fox Creek, Schick, Billingsly, Bar QH, and Shoal Creek. Three more daughters are being offered this year that are sure to go on to make their own mark on the breed. 372D combines one of our favorite cows, Hope Floats U33P, with Alley while 311D and 97D offer an impressive EPD profile and the famous Cow Camp donor, Ms Apple 9332W. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to add a 247Y daughter to your donor pen; we plan to be a little more stingy letting them leave Sleepy Hollow in the future.

She is the dam of a North American Champion in Sennett Monique for the Ostrum family and U409 herself was a high selling Lot 1 female in the NAILE Select Sale, now residing at Bird Cattle Co in TX. And for those who weren’t at Simmental Sweepstakes to see Joe Horstman’s pair of bull calves out of U409, lets just say it won’t be the last time you hear about them.

That year she won pretty much every time she was lead in the ring, including her trip to the North American where she glided across the green shavings to find her way to yet another backdrop picture. Her daughters and granddaughters have since been doing the same and now are focal points in some of the breed’s most prestigious programs. Her list of accomplishments are far too many to even begin to think about fitting on this page, but long story short, the female has gotten the job done time and time again. These two daughters combine that great individual with Lydia & Queen 414, giving C062 and C065 pedigrees that should make any breeding enthusiasts drool just a little.

The bred heifer offering this year has several potential big impact players in it and C35 could be as big as any. With a Breeders Sweepstakes Knic Overpeck Supreme Champion on BOTH the top and bottom of her pedigree, C35 had a jump start on most right out of the gate. Like a good runway model, this one’s got curves in all the right places and knows how to strut while keeping all eyes on her. With an Uno Mas heifer calf right around the corner, quick return on investment is almost a certainty. Owned by Lemenager Cattle Bred AI to WLE Uno Mas, ASA#2532016 on 5/9/16. Sexed heifer semen

Yet another daughter offered in this year’s sale out of a National Champion female, C501 is a maternal machine. Her pedigree may be a little “old school” with breed greats such as Built Right, Antoinette, and Power Drive, but there is nothing about this female that is out of style. Flawless as she moves, loose hided, and as pretty as your County Fair Queen, C501 is the kind that will last in the cow business. Looking for a bred with a little different pedigree that already has stacked some hardware on the shelves? Cool C001 offers both with the added bonus of some pretty impressive EPDs. C001 was the Grand Champion Purebred Female at the 2016 Western Regional Classic. Her balance from end to end, symmetry, and athleticism make her an easy choice whether in the showring or in the pasture. Not to mention her pedigree will be a little different for most being an Elevation out of a Milestone, which should make sire selection a breeze. A favorite since the day she hopped on the trailer in Clarksville, C421, aka Molly, has style and presence to attract anyone’s attention. This is a big hipped, big haired female with an extremely soft look about her. Her dam, HPF Miss Pep X304, was a high selling 1/2 interest lot at $35,000 in The Living Legacy VI going to BlackWatch Farms and WW Cattle. Although X304 has been a little stingier with her embryos then we prefer, when she makes ‘em look like this we feel it’s worth the wait.

We believe these double bred 3/4 bloods are what everyone needs to have a pasture full of. You get the heterosis of the cross while getting your consistency back to make that next purebred. This heifer goes back to the popular Hale family’s many time Champion and now cornerstone donor, Bramlets Beauty X054. We own 054C’s mother with the Bramlets and have extensive plans for her in the future of our programs. Get your hands on this Two Step female and get in on a cow family that has a rock solid history and a bountiful future. Owned with Bramlet Simmentals

As the top selling bred female out of the Janssen Farms Cow Family Treasures Sale last fall, 405B has already amassed numerous friends. As she quickly begins to prove she can transmit her volume, angularity, and leg structure to her offspring via D003, her following will only continue to grow. D003 has been and always will be a problem free, low maintenance kind of female that can still give you “the look” that keeps you coming back to her time and again. Owned with Bramlet Simmentals

Over the last several years, HTP and SVF have turned “Daisy Mae” into a household name. After her dominating show career for Holli she has been nothing less than extraordinary, producing both bulls and females that have topped sales, won banners, and multiplied according to the high standards of their family name. The mother to D013 is an elegantly designed baldie female by Sharper Image who is as sound as a dollar and whose influence will be increasingly seen in the HPF program because of her ability to produce females like D013.

No, Connie did not pull the wrong pedigree for this lot. And no, its not a typo. That is what she is (Geneseek even said so) and trust us, “Big Haired Betty” wouldn’t be in the offering if we didn’t whole-heartedly believe she was good enough. We purchased D016’s 1/2 Simmy, 1/2 Maine mother from Moore Land and Cattle out of the North American Select sale as a top bred heifer and she has quickly earned her way into the donor pen. 283Y isn’t just a stroke of luck either, that mating worked. A full sister to 283Y is BPFC Shelby 542Z, who was Grand Champion Percentage Female at the 2013 Junior Nationals in NE and a top donor for Minnaert Show Cattle in IL. Not much needs to be said about D016; she continues to impress us every day and she’ll either be your cup of tea or she won’t. Either way, we’re proud to have her wear the HP brand. D024 is a descendant of our lots 4, 5, and 6 families and we probably should have snuck her up there with them, but we want this cow to get there the same way those females did, by earning it. We are confident it won’t take her long at all. D024’s lineage reads Sazerac, Goldmine, Valentine, and Milestone and if that doesn’t spell out impending profit, we’re just not sure what does.

Another member of the HPF Show Team at Sweepstakes, D035 has been a little later to flip the switch but she has always had the silhouette to tell you that, when she did, she would be more than a handful. Out of the Tingle bull Grand Fortune, D035 combines the likes of Joy, Hope Floats, and Miss Red Rush 439R into one very appealing purebred package.

Another proud member of the Daisy Mae family we referred to earlier, D077 is out of a Milestone daughter, HPF Daisy Mae A008, whom we own with Long Ridge Farm of Kentucky. Although Michelle beat us to the punch getting some of her first ET babies on the ground, both HPF and LRF have big plans for A008 to pave some new trails for our programs. D077 is just one early example of what A008 is capable of: long necked, level hipped, and pliable in motion, go ahead and get this lot circled now. Owned by Long Ridge Farm

The Revival calves have been the talk of the fall, and D157 will only add fuel to the fire. Of course a little contribution from a Louisville, Denver, and Fort Worth Champion female doesn’t hurt anything either. This choke-necked, feminine headed individual received the gift of glide from her mother and the faultless outline of her father. The combination of her unique qualities will be sure to grab the attention of any judge or visitor to your farm. Owned by Ryan Cattle Co

We only had a couple of these Fast Track calves in his first year of service and we are regretting not getting more cows to him... but that will change. His calves are impeccable on their running gear, voluminous in their rib design, and sophisticated in their look. D052 is a prime example of that and has already made her debut in the showring, where she was 1/2 of the Grand Champion Cow Calf Pair at the Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes. Need a little more piece of mind? D052 is not Z227’s first good one. Her maternal sister was a popular lot last year, added to the Dodge Family’s arsenal for $10,000.

CNS Perfection R521- ref. dam

Perfection R521 has anchored more than one Living Legacy Sale and, at 11 years of age, she still has a natural calf that can not only make the cut but has found her way to the top of our list. Lookout daughters are valuable pieces of property and D521 is as nice as they come. D521 is a 1/2 blood that has style to burn while remaining bold and robust in her ribcage and fundamentally correct at the surface. Knowing what this cow family has done and how the Lookout daughters work in production, there is no doubt in our minds that D521 will keep a smile on her new owner’s face for many years to come. We purchased D060’s mother out of the Head of the Class sale a couple of years ago as one of the high selling bred females that year. She is a Milestone out of the legendary Cottontail donor and we feel offers infinite mating options once we get her shuffled into the donor pen. Although HPF Lutton Z305 sees limited use due to our “donor or recip” management style, he has a $9,100 average on THE ONLY 5 heifer calves he has sired!! D060 will make number 6 and she’s no fluke; consistency from both sides of her pedigree have been well documented. D060 may not have enjoyed picture day in NY as much as Pearl did, but we promise you’ll find her on sale day.

Speaking of consistency, here’s a cow family that knows a thing or two about it. Pick almost any one of our past Living Legacy Sale catalogs (or probably about any Simmental sale catalog) from the last 6 years or so, and we’d bet you the majority of the high sellers could be traced back to the “Sheza Dandy” family tree. If you want to limit it down to just T46, here’s just a couple of the most recent... a $9,500 bred heifer to Sasser, the jaw dropping $26,000 LnL open to RS&T/Shoal Creek, and a $10,000 bred to Majestic Cattle. She may not produce the most quantity of our donors, but T46 knows how to make ‘em count and she did just that with this star headed Broadway bombshell. Owned with CLO Simmentals.

D063, 218D & 316D – Here’s a cow family that is quickly becoming one of our favorites and we promise you, she’ll find her way to the front of this catalog in the very near future. Butterfly B555 has the leg structure and flexibility, immaculate contour, and fresh/diverse pedigree to generate the kind of high percentage cattle we prefer. We tried a few sires that are atypical for us when we IVF’ed her as a pregnant heifer and all 3 of these homozygous black, homozygous polled females have a little something different to bring to the table. D063 is as long as a well rope while still having softness and spring of rib. 218D is a chubbier made female that might not offer “crossbred like” hair but sure doesn’t need it when you study her overall design and makeup. And it’s pretty obvious 316D is the Belle of the Ball. Classy and up-headed, sharp necked, big hipped, you’ll travel a lot of miles looking for a purebred built like this stunner. Despite their differences, these 3 ladies put smiles on our faces when we think about the future for B555 in Sleepy Hollow. Definitely a cow family to get involved with early - their stock will only continue to rise. Owned with Pine Creek Cattle

Just a few of her most recent notables include a $25,000 Steel Force daughter to Haley Dodge, a $17,000 Dominator to Burke in NE, and a $10,000 Shear Force to Crusader. Although young, we have no problem seeing the pieces in 353D that could quickly place her on the list of some of Red Jewel’s finest accomplishments.

KenCo Miley Cottontail - ref. dam

We round out this year’s offering with another member of the Cottontail tribe, except this one is a direct daughter of the phenom herself, KenCo Miley Cottontail. In the last two years at the Head of the Class sale, 8 daughters have averaged a shade over $20,000! There is a LONG list of breed impacting individuals Cottontail is responsible for and 352D could be yet one more. Soft in her design and fluid in motion, 352D is a maternal building block that could be used as a foundation for any serious breeding program. Don’t hold it against 352 that her heart wasn’t in it on picture day, we’re confident she will impress you in person.
