Bull AllianceKANSAS
INAGURAL SALE
Wednesday, April 3, 2024 Noon
SALE LOCATION: Mankato Livestock Inc. 810 N. Commercial. Mankato, KS 66956
to the inaugural Kansas Bull Alliance Sale. The consignors have assembled a great group of bulls. Many of them are by some of the best sires and dams that their respective breeds have to offer. While we did have some extreme weather I feel that the bulls have performed well and will be in top notch form for April 3rd. I would like to thank Andy Larson and his crew for doing a great job feeding and caring for the bulls.
We have seen some all-time records set this year in the cattle market. For the forseeable future the cattle market looks good. Now is the time to take advantage and add current and fresh genetics to your herd. The offering includes several calving ease options, bulls with added power and performance that excel with carcass quality.
All the bulls are current on their vaccinations, semen tested and ready to go to work. We would like to thank you for interest in the Kansas Bull Alliance and any of the consignors or myself would be happy to answer any questions. We look forward to seeing you in Mankato.
Sincerely,

K122, K123, L012, L004 are all full siblings. What a flush this is! Sharp Dressed Man and Tuxedo are the age advantaged pair. Both are blaze faced bulls with extreme dimension and width. All are a plus 15 for calving ease and yet score over a 150 API and puts them in the top 20% of the breed! I would like to recommend them for heifers, but common sense says they have too much power to be 4**** calving ease. So, my recommendation is heifer safe with caution. These four bulls are sired by KBHR Honor and he demanded $105,000 as a yearling. Honor is being used on heifers very successfully and his sons are in high demand across the country. Their dam, Looking Sharp has quickly become one of Sloup’s most popular donors because of her extremely attractive phenotype with a striking blazed face. Her flushes have been averaging in the $7,000-$8,000 range.

L004 and L012 – Sir Lancelot L004 is the solid black version of this group and transmits the moderate frame of his dam and the performance of his sire. Sharp As A Tack L012 has the most white on his face in the group and is appropriately named for his striking look and yet features the extreme performance that Honor exhibits! So, mix and match but rest assured the resulting calf crop out of this ET sire group will be very exciting.

L017 Landlord is an Honor son twin out of one of our easiest keeping cows on our ranch. We needed a calf for another cow, so we adopted his brother to her. But C010 his dam, would have been fully capable of raising both calves herself. Landlord appears that he has been blessed with the same easy fleshing ability of his dam. He looks like he will make a tremendous herd sire prospect. I would be very interested in buying back his daughters if you don’t plan on keeping them. Stay in touch because if used on a set of Angus cows, I’m sure you’ll like what you’ll see out of Landlord.

Lantern’s dam is no stranger to making classy calves as this is her fifth bull calf to make the grade. She’s 9 years old and still working hard for us every year! It will be interesting what kind of daughters Honor and his sons will make. The great Sugar C4 cow has herd bull prospects in a lot of major seedstock producers’ herds across the country as well as the Sire Directory Catalogs. It’s hard to argue with satisfaction!

I don’t say this about every bull I sell, but when they’re out of productive, feminine cows like Star you just want to keep all the females that her sons produce. I would like to get some daughters back out of Lighthouse if you contact me when you get ready to sell them, because I know what potential they have down the road! L002 Laird is a 5/8 son of Apex Dividend and an SAV Brilliance daughter. What a great combination of heterosis here. His yearling wt of 1,144 is probably not representative of what it could have been due to the January blizzard. We basically fed these guys an entire month for nearly no gain as their yearling wts were taken 1/29/24. They really have made up for lost time since and look amazing right now.

L039 Leo is a Freight Train of a young bull. I feel like I need to tell you the whole story behind Leo. His 12- year-old dam unfortunately ended her career after prolapsing after giving birth to Leo. I decided he was way too good of a calf to not have a great mom to raise him, so I got a Jersey nurse cow to raise him. He was definitely in good shape at weaning time! Each of the last three generations of cows on his dam’s side are still hard- working females in our herd. Longevity and Stayability are bred into Locomotive. Here is a really good _ blood prospect. All of our Freight Train calves are heavy boned, thick, attractive animals. I’m wishing now I had used him more than just 3 years, but sometimes you out guess yourself.
