Kentucky Beef Expo Simmental Sale 2021

Page 1

March 6, 2021 l 11:00 AM Kentucky Fair & Expo Center New Market Hall, Louisville, KY

We invite The Kentucky Beef Expo has a long standing tradition of a well respected outlet for beef cattle producers through the east and southeast to market their animals. 2021 is the 35th year of the Kentucky Beef Expo. We are proud that the Simmental breed has continued to be one of the most successful events at the expo in respects to both the participation by breeders and the attendance and gross. All of this is only capable because of the dedicated group of breeders who come back year after year to showcase their operation’s genetics at the Kentucky Beef Expo. As we all know this past year has been one of the challenging years ever however the people in agriculture seem to be most resilient. We proceed with caution and take the necessary steps to do in feeding the world. Most people involved in the expo are involved in the seed stock business however we know the end product is producing a nutritious product which provides a good eating experience. That product is Beef. I probably can speak for the expo and even all breeds offer a big thanks to KY Farm Bureau. We all know this event could not happen without the support of Ky Farm Bureau. We appreciate the steps they take each day in being a huge advocate for agriculture and the farmers in our state. The virus has made it tough in many aspects however we are pleased to have a good set of consignors and breeders bringing high quality seed stock to Louisville. We invite you to join us on Friday afternoon for the show where you will be able to visually appraise the animals as they walk through the show ring. This is a great opportunity to put your own eyes on the lots that have caught your attention as you were flipping through the catalog. The opens will show as purebreds and percentage followed by the breds and bulls. I expect the show to be extremely good however the consistency and quality throughout the offering is good and will work for any program. Then on Saturday morning, we will have opens, breds, bulls, and genetic lots for sale in New Market Hall. The offering is backed by some of the top cow families in the state and other states as well. Of course as you are looking through the catalog, we invite you to visit with any of the consignors of lots you might be interested in. Study the consignors page as well great breeders are represented at this years event like always. As always we want to thank the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Farm Bureau plus the Ky Beef Expo committee for their continued support of the expo. The expo and the facility will be in the upmost cooperation and looking out the buyers and the sellers. If you can’t be with us, join us online at DVAuction, or contact any of the sale staff. It’s always a great event in Kentucky and we hope to see you there. If you never have been to the expo I encourage you to attend and see what the Simmental breed has to offer. Call for a catalog or any other details. If Drew, Holli or I can assist please call or text.

Join us live on Facebook on the DP Sales Management page for a live stream of the sale cattle show on Friday, March 5th.

Daisy Mae fans, pay attention here! This direct daughter looks a lot like her dam - heavy muscled, bold sprung of rib and incredible maternal traits. She will be a fan favorite in the show ring, and then in the pasture producing stout sons and daughters.

This blaze face stunner will make a heck of a show heifer. She’s halter broke, with good disposition and has all the right pieces. Once her career is over she should be a good producer like the other stout females in her lineage.

Selling 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist. We were excited to purchased HPF Daisy Mae at the Clearwater customer sale last spring. It was a no brainer looking at the progeny. In that sale alone two Innovator daughters sold with one selling to Brookland Farms for $4,300. Cory Redmon selected a 20 20 and an Innovator for his program. In the past years at the expo sons have been popular selling to George Graves, Chris Martin and Scott Farms. Michelle at the Kentucky State Fair all her entries were out of Daisy Mae A0008 and won the premier breeder and exhibitor award. When you have genetics so predictable it will be very rewarding mated to Quantum Leap, Double Down and Something About Mary. Daisy Mae was a champion and produced a son that was champion North American.

We have kept up with several cows over the years and we always wanted to add something out of the 770P line. So when WLE Missy showed up in the Dakota Ladies sale catalog we paid attention and she now makes her home in Kentucky. Generation after generation of this family has done well being show winners and top sellers. It is fun as a young breeder studying pedigrees and looking thru catalogs and viewing what works best for each program and environment. Tylertown has had many top sellers out of Z4283. Pick the bull of your choice and there many top new bulls to use on this donor. Flush sells with an open top and sellers guarantees a minimum of 8 embryos and all embryos over 12 will be split. Flush to be done at Professional Embryos Services Dr Jim Spears. Remember Z4293 is homo polled and homo black. Call for details.

Selling 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist. Cottontail has made loads of friends along the way from being a show winner into being an exceptional donor cow. Cottontail has been in several different programs and visiting with all those individuals she has been a great revenue producer. She has and will continue to produce elite ones of both sexes. You will have to look at her cow card however two names that come to me are Sweet Gem and High Voltage and look the Mid America sale catalog and view the granddaughter Cottonmaid. We are offering embryos on the Style and Exclusive. There is a reason this works, the family tree.

Selling 3 IVF reverse sort heifer embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work is performed by a certified embryologist. Don’t miss a great opportunity to acquire genetics out of our AJE Gabby R7 x Oracle daughter, HILB Eleanor E905! She was the high selling bred in the 2018 Jewels of the Northland Sale. Eleanor is the prettiest necked purebred you will find and huge bodied to boot, all the right pieces for a great donor cow. Her dam AJE Gabby R7 needs no introduction as she herself has produced many top sellers. HILB Oracle C033R sold for $52,000 in Badger Creek’s dispersal and is causing quite the buzz in the Simmental breed. The donor Sazerac has had three daughters in the past Expo sales. Three family members sold 2017 sale and one being Reserve Champion from Hudson Pines. The other we consigned is a half sister to 299G and sold for 4300. In the 2016 sale the higher was a daughter which sold for $13,000 going to Sunny View the Smith family plus another sold for $4,900. As all knows the grand dam, Sazerac P94 was past champion at the expo and went on to be champion at the North American. That is all the past however the family continues to flourish in many programs. We feel this one is better than the past seller. Bid and buy with confidence. Come watch the show and be at the sale. Another thing you might consider using Nashville.

Maternal, maternal, maternal. This heifer is only the second one we have offered to sell as we have held the rest back into our own herd. The dam of this heifer was purchased through Paulson’s donor and diva’s sale which originated from Jamie Cambell. Her first natural heifer calf came to the Kentucky expo sale and was grand champion percentage and went on and sold for $4500, her last heifer calf was reserve division at the Illinois state fair as one of the youngest in that division. We will probably regret selling this one as we have discussed on keeping her but as they say, we can’t keep all of them. This heifer has enough middle for two and more power than you would think. When you get on top of her and put your hands on her you are surprised that she has as much power as she does with the depth and middle hiding the power she has. Bid with confidence on her and you won’t be disappointed, she has been a very easy feeder and will continue to be for her next owners. Puppy dog tame for the youngest showers.

Who doesn’t love a red one? This one combines the blood lines of Broker and Lock N Load so how can you go wrong here. Long bodied , big boned, hairy and stout. Sounds like a show heifer with winning in front of her if you ask me. Her dam was one of the best heifers Maycee ever showed. She was 3rd overall at Illinois preview and 4th overall at Simmental Sweepstakes as a pure with multiple other winnings across the state. She is just starting her donor career and we are very excited on what we are seeing out of her so far. The future is bright her as she is strolling to green hills of Kentucky now. Look for her name in the future, she will be one that you won’t forget. Ginger is the very image of her mother “Firefly “ was at this age. You can’t go wrong with a red one!!!

HLVW Crossroads Shine 021 is a very fancy young female with a very bright future, and the ideal baldy head markings don’t hurt things either. After we viewed Crossroads on the move at both Louisville and Denver we felt that he was a bull that could certainly be utilized in our program, as we are very picky regarding eye appeal and structure. We felt that mating him to our Secret Shine donor, who won her division at Louisville during her show career, would certainly produce some very eye appealing and structurally sound offspring. 021 absolutely meets that criteria and we are proud to present her for your evaluation. She has a very mellow disposition for a showman of any age and she has the kind of pedigree that is wide open to mate her to many of the new up and coming sires in the Simmental breed.

I don’t what 306H will do however she has the genetics to be around and make money. Crown Jewell and Black Jewel are in the dependable pedigree.

We always like coming to Louisville and we have worth the trip. 40H is the popular Bankroll back to a High Regard, Broker and BC Lookout. Beauty’s pedigree is stacked with predictable animals on both sides of the equation. 40H is well designed, being sharp fronted, smooth made and sound on the ground. It only adds to the equation with the great producing on the top as well She So Sweet. This female like you would expect is younger however shows loads of promise. Many family members have sold well, plus done well in the show ring and went on to be producers of females and bulls.

HLVW Depo Cool 034 is a classy young May heifer out of the Damar Sugar donor, a female that around the farm we call the “cool cow, hence the very fitting name for this heifer. In her show career, the donor dam was Grand purebred in the Southeastern Junior Regional a few years back, so with Deplorabull as the sire, the 034 heifer certainly has accomplished parents. We feel that Deplorabull is a very under used sire as we have flushed him to a couple of our donors and are more than pleased with the offspring. When you view the 034 heifer you will see an angular, deep, and stout female that is great on the ground with lots of mass and width of base. She has been a very interesting female to watch develop and she will have an extremely bright future in the show ring and in the pasture.

This one has the disposition of a Bassethound pup. She has been a sweetheart since the day she was born. She’s just like her dam which we purchased from Michelle Canning at Long Ridge Farm. She is gorgeous and her chrome makes it hard for you to take your eyes off of her. She is sired by the Fort Worth Grand Champion GSC GCCO Dew North 102C. This heifer will be a pleasure to show for the next two years. The best part may be the cow that she becomes after her show career. A real stud with a stellar pedigree! Genetics like this don’t become available often, so think about the possibilities. This bull is stout sound and great looking. He should have a great impact on any herd. STCC Profit Wise 097H
