On behalf of DP Sales and the North Carolina Simmental Association we welcome everyone to the Fall Harvest. This association is proud to offer each year a function to assist in marketing their best from the heart of each breeders program. The sale is for the membership plus continues to have consignors and breeders from other states as well. The Fall Harvest is a place to purchase some great genetics, visit with friends old and new plus commercial breeders looking for Simmental genetics that fit their needs. The consignors are there to answer any questions and assist to meet the needs of your individual program. The North Carolina Association prides itself in having a continuous sale for 50 years. This is a huge accomplishment for a state association. The sale site is always at Dr Shuffler’s and each year we can’t thank him enough for his assistance, cooperation and opening his doors each and every year. If you have never been to the sale site at Union Grove is a great place to view the sale offering in grass lots and pens and great place to other sale related events. The state of North Carolina Simmental represents one of the biggest and strong breeds. Simmentals continue to work no matter what segment you represent in the beef business.
Number one I think you will be impressed with the 28 consignors and their sale consignments. The 50th annual sale offers you the customer open heifers, bred heifers, bred cows, pairs, genetic lots and some great commercial Sim Angus that you will find anywhere. Don’t overlook some top show prospects and think you will find them in the sale pens. Study your catalog or the catalog online and look for the strong and predictable cow families. The breds are always a special feature with several you purchase and will have a product on the ground soon. If you have been watching, attending or making a purchase you will find those predictable genetics and cow families that have been represented each year. I think that is a testonimal to the breed, consignors, breeders, the strong state association and leadership. The head of that leadership role each year is the executive secretary and busy as a bee Jennie Rucker. Along with Jennie and the directors of the association they continue to take steps improving the sale and being involved in the ASA, AJSA and the North Carolina Cattlemen Association.
This year in the 50th sale we have 28 consignors from 11 different states that all believe in customer satisfaction. The Fall Harvest sale cattle have sold to 12 to 18 states in several years. So the info is correct, health in order and trucking for your purchases. If you can not attend the sale is on DVAuction however put it on your bucket list for the 50th Anniversary Fall Harvest. Even be planning for the 50th sale and the association welcomes seedstock from any state. Please don’t hesitate to reach to any of the consignors prior to or the sale weekend. The cattle are very important but it is all about the people. Have a safe trip to Union Grove. If you need any assistance or questions feel free to contact Drew, Holli or I. We want to see you and take in all the events around the sale. A great association backed by strong leadership and breeders, again we welcome all to the 50th.

Come Red is a great example of our program possessing that soggy, deep middle, power house, donor potential female! Being undefeated in her class as a calf for our son, she carries that sweet heart personality! She’s a full sibling to the $7500 heifer sold to Bontrager Cattle Company in Iowa. On top of everything else, Dreams Come Red, is bred to one of the best baldie bulls on the market, WCC/RRF Troubadour 0130H for a November calf. He was the 2022-2023 PTP People’s Choice Champion. This calf will have a stacked pedigree for anyone to build a program around. Selling full possession, with the right to 1 flush in the future at sellers expense. Scott Trennepohl said this is one of the best Executive Order daughters to date, and backed with a pedigree streaming from the most popular Ebony’s Joy L123! A combination matched to any sire just works! With several daughters in production in the herd already, we wanted to spread the joy of selling embryos out of 6110. Your pick of County O or Payroll or all. We have several Payroll calves from this mating on the ground and they are sporty. With the County O matings arriving this fall. Dreams Come Red was a major decision for my family to let go, but we wanted to start bringing our hard work to light with our ET program! Dreams With this being the 50th Anniversary Sale, we are excited to bring something from the heart of our herd. Over the past few years we have switched our focus on quality and not quantity! This brought us our donor, STCC Dream Child 6110.

Call us plum crazy for letting this pair sell this early and we could agree with you. Here is a treat that won’t be offered in this way very often. The heifer calf in on this pair is a product of one of the most dominant cows to ever roam the southern US. Miss CCF Jestress B79 aka “Diddo” is responsible for creating high value cattle that have won on the highest of levels. Just recently the 5th overall percentage female at the 2024 National Classic was a daughter of Jestress B79 shown by Tyler Miller. The list of high selling and impactful daughter of B79 are too long to list in this write up. Take advantage of us selling a young heifer calf with a royal pedigree and nursing a nice young registered SimAngus female. I know we are crazy, but it is the 50th Edition of the NC State Simmental sale and we wanted to bring something special.

All eight entries are uniform look-alikes. Their genetic histories all go back to some of the best breeding lines produced by Tim Ohlde of OCC Cattle in Kansas. Each heifer is deep bodied, slick, and structurally correct. They are absoluutely made for North Carolina, where mama cows need to make their living on grass and a bale of hay. Also, they are gentle and easy to handle. Their sire VANDES 3110 is a super excellent direct OCC Emblazon son that consistently produces females of the keeping kind. These heifers are all bred to an OCC No Fault son with low BW and known for thick and deep bodied offspring. On top of all this, these heifers are very pleasing on the eye with super udder potential. In today’s world, bred heifers of this quality are hard to find. All 8 heifers were examined 4 to 5 months pregnant on July 2nd.

I hope you’re into studying pedigrees and operations past and present, well here is the past, the extended cow family of H25 ,DOB 1998 and her dam B80, DOB 1992. H25 and B80 were bred in the state of Virginia. Most all the progeny was marketed in the North Carolina sale and all were on the list of high sellers. Progeny after progeny is in the majority of herds nationwide. Just on their cow card alone, B80 has 131 and H25 175. After that is a history lesson about pedigrees. In bulls like Broker and Steel Force have lead the way for many years. Many breeders say they have the best daughter out of Lookin Sharp and I can’t disagree, there is one after one that makes the list. One of the high on the list is Lookin Sharp. This is just a beast of a cow. Lookin Sharp on the sire side, DCC New Look which is more than, notable. This awesome donor was flushed to the triple champion and more, Coping With Destiny. Jones Show bred Coping With Destiny and no doubt will pave his own way like all the others all in linage. It is hard to over look genetics so predictable.
