W elcome...
to the 2017 Wild Wild West!” This is our 17th Anniversary Sale! Hard to believe 17 years of bringing you groups of Sim Genetics! We are pleased to host another outstanding sale offering of these females “bred to be cows”… backed by cattle people who breed them to work in some of the harshest range conditions in North America. It proves the Simmental and SimGenetics females can work in any environment. And the Wild Wild West sale showcases these breeding programs. Come look us up in the yards. Several Wild Wild West consignors will be exhibiting in the female Simmental Pen Show. The bull pen show is Sunday, January 15th. The heifer pen show is Monday, January 16th, with the One Sale that evening. The Junior show and the bull show on the hill is Tuesday, the 17th.
The Denver stock show is a busy time. We encourage breeders to stop by Adams Co fairgrounds anytime after cattle arrive at the sale site. We appreciate your interest and inspection.
The Colorado Simmental Association works hard to make the National Western Stock Show Simmental events a reality. They are a small, but mighty group! Almost single handily, they put on the National Western Stock Simmental Show. So to help with some of those costs, the Wild Wild West will donate the Lot 1 semen tank and semen donation proceeds. We appreciate your support of this lot!
Directions from National Western Stock Show

Oval F Ranch
w w w. ov a l f ra n c h . c o m
At the Oval F Ranch in northwest Missouri, we believe in sound, productive, big bodied cows that can have a calf and raise it. We use EPDs to help improve all economical traits and appreciate productive females with eye appeal.
We have also been successful in the bull department. We were fortunate to own and show AR Extra 8J to the Grand Championship at the National Show and all other major Simmental shows in 1979-1980. We are the breeders of Oval F Ringleader, Oval F Cool Dude, and 2 Division winners at the National Simmental shows in Kansas City. Our bulls are
marketed through private treaty and we are proud of the repeat business from commercial cattlemen in our area. We are located in fescue country in the rolling hills north of Kansas City. Our cattle are handled much like our neighbors’ commercial cattle. We do not creep feed and what you see is what you get We are serious about breeding Simmentals with COW POWER production in mind and appreciate being part of the Wild Wild West sale. If you are interested in bulls or females please give us a call or stop by our stalls at the NWSS “In the Yards” then join us at this sale.
All females OCV’d and tested BVD PI negative.

Wild WildSimmental West Sale
We started in 1971 (ASA# 2729) with the purchase of 7 Parisien daughters bred to Bismark and have turned 16 generations from one of those heifers including our Princess and Julie lines, all AI sired. Our Oval F Linda L320 cow is a story in herself and has produced many popular sale cattle at the Wild Wild West and other national sales. We believe in the ASA slogan “The Cow Makes the Difference”.
Matt & Andrea Fischer 12003 County Rd. 360 St. Joseph, MO 64505 816.383.0630 mfischer4@hotmail.com
Oval F Linda Linda has truly be a cornerstone for our
program over the last 15 years. Her legacy began with her first calf Oval F Nicholette N443, who was sold here in Denver 13 years ago. Since that time she has recorded nearly 100 progeny contributing to satisfied bull customers, sale topping females, and our next generation of replacements. She has anchored many of our previous Wild Wild West consignments and never failed with whatever sire we mated her. She is a true proven production female that up until recent years was successfully flushed and bred back to raise a natural calf every year. While nursing a calf at 15 years of age she still had a super sound quality udder, very correct feet that had never been trimmed, and weaned one of our heaviest calves. Unfortunately we lost her this fall but decided to bring an offering of different matings for you to evaluate and add to your herd. Find your favorite and we are confident she will influence your program for many years to come. Linda is Homozygous Black and Homozygous Polled.

We have been a part of the Wild Wild West Sale since its inception, now 17 years, and are proud to be a Wild Wild West member. This group of western cattlemen has enjoyed bringing sound, useful cattle that will work in range conditions when you take them home. We say they are “bred to be cows”. Many will work for show heifers, and youth projects, but ultimately, they “are bred to be cows”.
If you have questions please contact me (970-4812570) or manager, Russ Princ 256-254-9042. He also knows the cattle and our operation.
And finally, we value the National Western Stock Show and the Wild Wild West Sale as a time when we reunite with family and friends. We look forward to seeing you at the sale.
All Altenburg animals are tested negative PI-BVD.

Wild WildSimmental West Sale
Altenburg Super Baldy Ranch is located in northern Colorado and has been operating there for nearly 45 years. Altenburg’s emphasis is producing commercially oriented bulls for western bull customers. We utilize both Simmental and Angus genetics …. Red and Black. Simmental is utilized for adding growth and yield. Angus is used for calving ease and to add carcass quality. Both breeds have exceptional maternal traits, making the SimAngus females the most sought after cross in the industry. The resulting SimAngus – “Super Baldy” bulls are utilized by producers wanting just a little continental blood or to stabilize a crossbreeding program. We sell 120+ bulls and will hold our 25th annual Super Baldy Bull sale the 18th of March in 2017. Our cattle are summered at 6 – 7000 feet in “short grass” country requiring 20 acres per cow in the summer. Cows are “trailed” the 12 miles from the ranch each year. Cows are wintered on hay stubble, and corn stalks and calved outside. We try to run them as our commercial customers do. Both A.I. and embryo transfer are utilized to make improvements in genetic progress. Please go to our website and learn more about our program …. www.altenburgsuperbaldy.com

Beeson, Crawford, Nebraska. They picked a son of ASR Second Chance W931, (owned by Jim & Gail Ligon, Tennessee). We called him ASR Aim High B418. ASR Aim High was out of a very nice, first calf heifer by HSF Better Than Ever, ASR Black Miranda Y198. She has gone on to develop into a beautiful flush cow for us. As a bred heifer, CSU judging coach urged us to show her. That is not what we do. We just make cows, that make great bull mothers … and that is just what ASR Black Miranda Y198 turned out to be. We like the Hooks Broadway mating. We put some in this spring and saved three embryos for the Wild Wild West sale. Homozygous Polled, Homozygous Black

As the Wild Wild West partners prepare for another quality sale, Bridle Bit Simmentals would like to invite everyone to spend an evening with our group during the National Western Stock Show in Denver evaluating true cowman’s offerings.
In times of lower cattle prices, we believe those that can provide a product with more accuracy and proof will be ahead of the rest. Data collection on every calf born using the Performance Advocate Program has been our practice for many years. Another perfect score of 600 this year is something we are very proud of.
AI and embryo transfer are used extensively to produce Simmentals and SimAngus bulls to be sold at our annual bull sale on March 20, 2017. This year, 90 black and red bulls will sell along with 30 Red Angus bulls from SRS, Red Angus of Haswell, CO. We strive to produce cattle with outstanding calving ease traits that also maintain breed average growth, while excelling in carcass traits. All offerings have tested negative for PI-BVD. We trust you will find our females worth your time and consideration. Please feel free to visit us in Walsh at any time.Visitors are always welcome to stay in our new sale barn that is equipped with bedrooms, bathrooms, and a full sized kitchen. Thank you and we’ll see you in Denver.

Wild WildSimmental West Sale
Campbell Simmentals is located in the southwestern region of Colorado, at the base of the San Juan Mountains. Campbell Simmentals is truly a family based business; which includes myself and my wife Christy, our daughter Katie and her husband Kyle and three year old Kinley. Our ranch is located at an elevation of 7,000 feet, which poses another hurdle to deal with. However, Simmental cattle are bred to handle the elevation very well. We winter our cattle on corn stalks on the Navajo Nations (NAPI) Farms located south of Farmington, New Mexico. Most of our calving is done at NAPI, due to better winter conditions. The cattle and the new offspring will move home late winter to finish out the calving. We then will do AI work and do ET work with cooperator herds; they will then go to lease pastures. 22 22
Luckily, for the summer months we have been able to lease pasture close to home. We market our bulls with T-Heart Ranch based out of Center, Colorado. Our bulls go into the T-Heart bull test facility 30-45 days after weaning. The feeding facility is located at approximately 8,000 feet in elevation. Making this one of, if not, the highest elevation bull test with some of the harshest temperatures in the nation. With our bull customers harsh range conditions in mind our cattle are bred with an emphasis on calving ease, fertility, fleshing ability, and structural soundness all in a moderately built package. We are excited about the females that we are bringing to the sale this year! So from all of the Campbell Simmental’s Family we look forward to seeing you in Brighton and wish you safe travels!

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Wild Wild West Sale. We want to thank everyone who has invested in our program in the past and welcome those interested in investing in our program for their future. One of our goals at Ahlberg Cattle is to continually strive to improve and produce highly functional cattle that will produce a profit for many years through strengths in maternal traits, longevity and soundness and eye appeal without sacrificing performance. Our heavy use of AI allows us to continue to move forward in improving our genetics by utilizing new and exciting genetics while still being influenced by bulls of the past. Even though our cow herd is small in numbers (25 cows), we truly believe in cow power! Cow power has allowed us to produce this group of quality heifers with substance, volume and the cow look. We believe this set of heifers are more consistent with many quality options for the most discriminating cattleman. No matter what direction you would like to take a heifer, we do believe that we have her with enough variety to cover everyone’s taste buds. We are offering five ET heifers – all from proven mothers. One of our new donors - Sedgwicks Erica S326 “626” is a ten year old cow we decided to flush for the first time last January after she calved. She flushed 10 eggs in April (with a calf sucking her) and bred back on the first AI thus calving the first part of February the following year. We only put in three of these eggs in our recips thus resulting in the three flush mates in this sale. This fertility is what we strive 26 26
www.ahlbergcattle.com
for as all three of these ET heifers were the first to cycle this fall. These heifers should be the top producers in any program, and we would have had no regrets retaining any of these heifers in our herd. The other two ET heifers – one is from the great Sedgwicks Erica U332 (2010 National Jr. Angus Owned Female) and the other heifer is from a Bexter daughter who is the maternal grandmother to the 2015 and 2016 high sellers in the past Wild Wild West sale. Since we only have three recips, these two ET heifers were part for the Don Esch ET program in Unadilla, NE. The heifers will be on display at the NWSS and part of our Percentage Pen of Three Females at the NWSS. All the heifers are tested negative for PI-BVD.Videos of the heifers will be taken at a later date, so please check out our website for more details! The bull mates to these heifers have been in Wayne, Nebraska since weaning under Cashley’s management and will sell on January 28, 2017, 12:30 PM (CST) in West Point, Nebraska in J & C Simmentals bull sale where we will be one of the guest consigners. Videos will be available on our website at a later date. Again thank you to those who have put trust in our program in the past. We appreciate your business! Your success is our success, and we look forward to visiting with you. Feel free to give us a call anytime or be sure to stop by our stall at NWSS and see these outstanding heifers!

Darcy has stood out since the day that she was born. Here is a heifer that
catches your eye from the minute you step into the pen. She is so elegant and attractive through her front end, level in her lines, and is massive and square out of her hip. Her unique design makes her one of a kind that has the ability to hang several purple banners. She goes back to the great Segdwicks Erica U332 on the bottom side. Her dam Miss Kay was Reserve Champion percentage female at the 2014 Nebraska State Fair as a calf and has picked up where she left off in the show ring producing high caliber progeny. She is a member of our pen of three at the NWSS.

She’s maternal and youthful in her look, she’s hairy, and she is flat out good.
Dixie’s dam, Erica U332, has produced several high sellers in previous years. We love our Erica daughters and granddaughters, they always stamp that eye appealing, show ring look into their progeny. This is the only direct daughter of Erica that will be offered this year. Don’t miss your chance to own this great female, her best days are ahead of her. You will love her feminine, eye appealing look, her depth, overall mass, plus she is bred for great things.

605D, 624D, & 652D – Here is a cow family that is one of our favorites. We purchased Segdwicks Erica S326 “626” from McCurry Brothers as a six-yearold cow, and has since left her mark on our program. These are the first daughters that we have gotten out of 626. Her bull progeny are highly sought after every year. She produced the Champion Percentage Bull at the 2014 Nebraska State Fair. 626 is known for producing cattle that are big footed, athletic on the move, big bodied and easy fleshing. These three flush mates are no different and loaded with cow power. 605D is so massive and powerful in her build. You love her boldness of rib, thickness from behind, and parallel lines. She will be part of our Pen of Three at the NWSS. The first word that comes to mind about 624D is brood cow. She is so maternal in her build, being long bodied, soggy made, stout at the ground, and feminine in her appearance. 652D continues to get better every day, you love the youthfulness about her front end, her depth of body and soundness at the ground. All three of these heifers have the sweetest disposition and would be great for first year exhibitors. Any one of these heifers would be an asset to your herd.

Chad Russell is a part of his family’s Reflected R Ranch near Sugar City, CO. They’re dedicated to producing moderate-framed, heavy muscled Simmental seedstock. The cattle are raised in the short-grass country of Southeastern Colorado. The cowherd emphasizes calving ease, fertility and profitability. Disposition also is important, as shown by Chad’s sale offering, RRR Ms Uno Mas 06D, who is extremely gently. EPDs and $Indexes are monitored, with an emphasis on calving ease combined with adequate growth and high All Purpose Index. Reflected R uses AI and Embryo Transfer, plus genomic testing to verify parentage and enhance EPD accuracy. Reflected R Ranch sells bulls in partnership with the High-Altitude Bull Sale. Chad has bulls in the sale offering, along with his parents, Curtis & Susan Russell. Chad served as Colorado Junior Simmental president from 2010 to 2016. To recognize his leadership and commitment, he will be awarded a CSA scholarship during the 2017 Wild, Wild West sale. Chad has participated in 12 AJSA regional and national Classics, plus two of the AJSA leadership summits. He has also earned the AJSA Silver Merit Award. He earned his Associate of Science degree at Otero Junior College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is now a junior at Colorado State University where he is double majoring in Animal Science and Mathematics. The proceeds from this sale heifer will go toward his educational expenses.
