Tiny, hidden bays outline this famous seaside town on the Costa Brava. Its incredible landscape of rocky coast fringed by beautiful beaches and coves makes it a very popular destination. This is an ideal season to visit, before the crowds arrive in the busy summer months.

DISCOVER CADAQUÉS Cadaqués was a favourite resort of both Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, who were attracted to the incredible scenery of this sleepy town. Spend just a few minutes in this former fishing village and it is not hard to see why it is loved by so many and appreciated by artists of such prestige. The crystal clear waters dance with an incredible light and a sea breeze accompanies the spring sunshine. It remains a favourite spot for artists and weekenders from Barcelona and nearby towns. Although its small population makes for a quiet town during most of the year, this number grows dramatically during the summer months. Despite its popularity among tourists, the town has managed to retain its charm and authenticity. There are plenty of restaurants and bars where you can taste the local specialties and enjoy beautiful sea views. Keep an eye out for the artisan craft shops for original and stylish souvenirs.

SALVADOR DALÍ'S HOUSE Salvador Dalí was one of the most versatile and prolific artists of the 20th century. He was known and loved for his flamboyant personality as well as for his iconic paintings. The house he lived in, just around the bay at Port Lligat on the Cap de Creus, has been preserved as a museum. Dalí is said to have been drawn by the location's landscape, light and remoteness. He reconstructed its inner spaces during the 40 years he lived there, creating a quirky and unique ambience.

CAP DE CREUS The Cap de Creus is a nature reserve, marked by the eastern end of the Pyrenees. There are a number of hiking trails both north and south of the peninsula with incredible views across the bay to France. These views of the coast with its tumbling cliffs are sure to leave a lasting memory in your mind.

ACTIVITIES Several companies rent out boats in Cadaqués for a unique way to explore the bay and beyond. Dusk is especially beautiful here, and we suggest making time to watch the sunset over the bay. The short walks and longer hikes are a real treat. There are many paths that wind along the coast and hilltops, lined with plenty of bars where you can enjoy the views and take a break with a refreshing drink and some tapas.
