At Bare Naked Wools, we draw much of our inspiration from our everyday surroundings. We find motivation in the ever-changing world of knit fashion, with visions of modern, structural designs and graphic textures. We strive for creations that can endure the coming years, similar to the durable architectural impact of a classic, Tudor home. We see patterns in the understated complexity of century old rock formations and the natural phenomena that come with the changing seasons. As knitters and knitwear designers, our appreciation for the minutia is often underestimated. The details of a single stitch slowly turning into an intricately twisting cable can excite us as much as the details of the veins in a fern, clinging to a rock face, in seemingly unsurvivable circumstances. We have teamed up with other designers who are similarly influenced by the details of life that often go unnoticed, to bring you Ensemble 2018, a collection of knits that highlights the little things.

Wedgewood Vest by Kerri Blumer

Wedgewood Vest by Kerri Blumer Wedgewood vest is a sleeveless top in eight sizes (XS/S/M/L/1X/2X/3X/4X) and two lengths, in a body-skimming silhouette inspired by Art Deco style. Travelling rib details shape the waist to highlight feminine curves perfectly while the split hem allows for fluid drape at the hip; a flattering scoop neckline frames the collarbones to finish the look. This design is worked bottom up in pieces, with ribbed trims added after seaming. Choose from a mid-hip length or tunic length to suit your style. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement. Kerri Blumer is a knitter and designer living in Columbus, OH. She picked up the needles in 2008 after deciding she had to figure out how to make cables and hasn’t stopped since. Find Kerri on Instagram as @kerriknits, where she shares designs in progress, new pattern releases, and other bits of life and designing.

Crimpled by Hattie Tavares

Crimpled by Hattie Tavares I prefer longer cowls that can be doubled up for extra warmth, but unwrapped for indoor wear. This design in two sizes (petite/tall) uses a stitch pattern, which is very open in appearance, but also has a lot of body; it falls into airy folds that capture light and warmth around the face and neck. The accent band has dual function, adding a little extra style whether the cowl is worn single or double and helping to hold the doubled cowl in place. I thought the name ‘Crimpled’ was a fun word to describe the texture of the cowl when it’s gathered into the accent band. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement. Hattie lives in NY with her husband, 3 kids, and two cats. She is a self taught knitter, coffee enthusiast, and animal lover. While she loves all things crafty, knitting is her passion, obsession, and therapy. You can find her at @hatriciaknits on Instagram.

Embossed by Susannah IC

Embossed by Susannah IC Traditional lace stitches can be used to create garments appropriate for the cold seasons when worked in heavier yarns, such as this worsted weight BNW yarn. To eliminate the airiness of lace for a cozy garment, the yarn overs are worked through the back loops, which creates an interesting embossed look on the right side of the garment. This cardigan in 8 sizes (XS, S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X), is designed to be worn with positive ease for a comfortable, relaxed fit. All pieces are knit flat, bottom up and seamed to finish. It features front, back, and sleeve panels of embossed leaf stitch, side seam pockets, and a standing ribbed collar that may be buttoned to the top. Simple rib anchors the hem and cuffs of the stockinette body to highlight the lace panels and create a smooth silhouette. Work in a springy yarn for best stitch definition. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement. After nine years in Europe, Susanna IC now lives in Texas with her husband, two sons, and countless balls of yarn. Besides a background in fashion design, she has a Master’s degree in art history and a Bachelors’s in studio arts, all of which continue to inspire her knitting. Her projects and designs can be found on Ravelry and at ArtQualia.com.

Sunday Toast by Nadya Stallings

Sunday Toast by Nadya Stallings Knit in a simple textured slip stitch pattern, Sunday Toast hat and mitts were inspired by the delicious appeal of steamy, toasted waffles. It is a great project for beginners or experienced knitters alike, and makes for a smart addition to any wardrobe. Use a springy, lofty yarn for best texture. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement. Sold separately, the cap can be made in four sizes (S/M/L/XL), and the mitts in three sizes (S/M/L).

Nadya Stallings designs at Nadya’s Designs, as well as on Ravelry under the name Nastknit. She works from her tiny design studio in Northeast Ohio, where she lives with her husband, Rory, and cat, Syoma. You can see more of her work at www.nadyasdesigns.com.

Harlow

by Jennifer Wood

Harlow by Jennifer Wood Cables, ribs, and twisted stitches come together in a fun, unique play on the classic Aran pullover. Unusual shaping placement and a deep ribbed band give a contemporary feel to this seamless, top-down pullover in eight sizes (XS/S/ M/L/1X/2X/3X/4X). Use a springy yarn for best stitch definition. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Jennifer Wood began Wood House Knits in 2009. Her designs unite classic and modern styling with beautifully detailed patterns for a contemporary romantic feel. Darley

by Neisha Abdulla

Darley by Neisha Abdulla Darley is a reversible scarf with interesting texture on both sides. It comes in two sizes (short/long) and is a bang on trend scarf that is sure to be a staple of any autumn/winter wardrobe. The motif is a fusion of East and West, with interlocking bands of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch that form a texture resembling the surfaceof a dry stone wall. The reverse presents as a kind of quatrefoil pattern, often seen in Middle Eastern architecture and decorative tiling. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement. Neisha's background is in art and design. She is typically creative and makes art using many different mediums. Kina by Neisha Abdulla

Kina by Neisha Abdulla Kina is an A-line tunic in 8 sizes (XS/S/M/L/1X/2X/3X/4X), that features an hourglass cable coupled on a reverse stockinette background. The bottom edge, armhole edges, and neckline are left unfinished to retain the elementary lines. Kina is knit from the bottom up in pieces, with a flared hem and gradual decreases, offering a loose fit throughout the body that transitions to a fitted bust with slight negative ease. While the garment is constructed with simple lines, there is a luxurious, rich texture to the finished fabric, inspired by the undulating landscape of the Scottish Highlands. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement. Lineweight by Lana Jois

Lineweight by Lana Jois Geometric shapes float on a grid of fine lines in this airy and delicate shawl in 3 sizes (petite/medium/tall) that is a modern take on lace. The shawl is worked from the bottom up beginning with a border pattern of geometric lace. A diagonal lace pattern is combined with short rows to make up the body with shoulder shaping. Knit in a delicate lace weight yarn to highlight the openwork motif or in a slightly heavier yarn for greater depth and rustic texture. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size, drape, and yardage requirement.

Lana loves to knit! Sweater or shawl, texture or lace. She is always experimenting with technique and construction but is happiest when knitting lace. Last, but not least, we would like to say thanks to our wonderful models. With diligence and determination, they braved the Northeast Ohio snow and temps in the teens to showcase Ensemble, and did so with beautiful smiles and warm attitudes, despite the cold. None of this would have been possible without them, and Bare Naked Wools is grateful to have such wonderful people with which to work.
