The Manager PETER
BEADLE
From the Manager GOOD EVENING BEES FANS AND I HOPE YOU ARE ALL KEEPING WELL. and looking forward to our match with Weymouth this evening. It’s imperative that we take the positive aspects of the first three games and bring it all together it tonight’s match against another good side. On that note, I’d like to welcome all the staff and players from Weymouth this evening, they have had a great progression in the last few years and I am sure they will be a tough challenge tonight. Without dwelling too much on the past, it was frustrating how we started so slowly on Saturday up at Notts County. We really didn’t get going in the opening 30 minutes and were rightfully punished for our slow start. However, I am pleased with the fight the boys showed to get themselves within touching distance of being level and we need to take that part of the performance into tonight’s match and the future matches coming up. We are a work in progress and game by game we’ll get better, we are seeing in patches how good we can be, so now it’s about putting performances together on a consistent basis.
With two home games coming up this week, this is a great opportunity to build some momentum by putting in two good performances. However, we know anyone can beat anyone in this division so we need to have the right mentality going into what I am sure will be two difficult games. I have complete faith in this team we are building and I am hoping you’ll see the best of us in the upcoming games. Thanks to all of you purchasing streams for tonight, it’s great to know we have your support and it’s also important for the Club as a whole at this difficult time. Keep well and keep cheering us on!
Thanks for your support,
The Captain JAMES
DUNNE
From the Captain HELLO EVERYONE AND WISHING YOU ALL WELL AHEAD OF TONIGHT’S VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE FIXTURE WITH WEYMOUTH. It’s imperative that we get ourselves a first home win of the season tonight, after a disappointing opening day here at The Hive. I think when reflecting on Saturday, that it’s clear for all to see that we were not good enough for the opening half-hour against Notts. They came flying out the blocks and we were sluggish when you do that against a side like them you are bound to be punished like we were on Saturday. We can take heart from our performance in the last 50 minutes of Saturday, we went at them and were competitive, but ultimately our start cost us and we know that it wasn’t good enough. We showed our quality and spirit last Tuesday against Dagenham, so it’s important that we do so again this evening, with a more consistent performance over 90 minutes. Weymouth are a very good side and have more than earned their place in this division, they have looked solid in their opening matches and it’ll certainly be another tough game this evening. We have to use our quality this evening and be right up for it from minute one, if we do that then I am sure a positive result will follow. We obviously played Weymouth in the Trophy last season and it was a tough game then as well, so as I said we have to fight for every ball this evening. We’re missing having our fans in the stadium, but it’s great that you can at least cheer us on from home. We need to make amends for our opening day result and give you something to cheer about this evening. I feel we are getting better every day and it is going to take time for us to be the complete package, but there’s no excuses, it’s vital we get back to winning ways this evening. Catch you soon,
James Dunne
Walking football BARNET OVER 65’S Made a successful return from lockdown to play their first match against neighbours Watford 65’s at The Hive London.
Played to FA rules, and with the introduction of 3 touch walking football, the Bees played an excellent fast passing attacking style that never saw them at risk of losing. Goals from Richard Smith, Alan Barton and Richard Fincher saw the team come away with a 3-1 victory. The true winner however, was walking football itself, the friendship and enjoyment with the Watford team led by Alan Cutter, followed by food and drink in the Hive Bar respecting the guidelines blew away some of the cobwebs of lockdown. Our recent Friday session saw a fun fact achievement with 3 Lustigman’s playing in the same team, Stuart alongside his son Adam and cousin Barry, a true community football moment. Also, a new sports show from Radio Harrow online has begun every Sunday from 11am-12pm which covers local football including the Barnet Walking Football Team. All our latest walking football news can be followed on Twitter @Barnetwft. Stay safe, stay healthy from the team!

Weymouth Football Club was founded in 1890. Formed as an amateur club the club is nicknamed “The Terras” due to the terra-cotta and blue quartered shirts they originally wore. The club’s impact on Dorset’s football scene was immediate and we won the Dorset Junior Cup for the first three seasons, prompting the Dorset FA to re-classify us as a senior club. After winning the Western League Championship in 1923, the club joined the Southern League and adopted professionalism. However financial difficulties led to the club returning to amateur status and the Western League in 1928. After the Second War the club were forced to start again, in the Western League Division 2, but achieved promotion in 1948 and then third place in Division 1 the following season. Weymouth returned to the Southern League for the 194950 season and remained until becoming founder members of the Alliance Premier League in 1979-80, finishing as runners-up in the inaugural season. The Terras became Southern League Champions in 1964-65 and 1965-66 and they share with Yeovil Town and Telford United the distinction of playing all 20 seasons in the Premier Division prior to it’s temporary disbanding.
TODAY’S OPPOSITION
Weymouth have enjoyed considerable FA Cup success: in 1949 they became Manchester United’s first FA Cup opponents back at Old Trafford after the War and were not disgraced in a 0-4 defeat, in the 3rd round. In 1962 we reached the Fourth round before losing 0-2 away at Preston North End. In 1987 the club moved from its harbourside Recreation Ground to the Wessex Stadium and - for a while - it looked as if promotion to the Football League would materialize. After coming close, however, the club were relegated back to the Southern League (1989) - and even lower - before returning to the Premier Division in 1997. Following a succession of seasons treading water, the club was taken over in 2004 and a new board of directors installed Steve Claridge as player-manager with a mission to bring success to the club. Galvanising club and town, with league attendances averaging 1490, Claridge led the Terras to runners-up spot in his first season and promotion to the Nationwide South League. The club returned to full time professionalism in 2005 and celebrated with the Nationwide South title at the end of that season. Our initial season back in the Conference resulted in an 11th place finish, but the club struggled the following season before being led to safety by manager John Hollins. His tenure ended at the start of 2008 and Alan Lewer became manager in January 2009. At the start of 2009 Weymouth’s financial difficulties surfaced, leading to the resignation of chairman Curtis. Former chairman Ian Ridley replaced him in March and days later - Lewer was replaced by former Welsh manager Bobby Gould. Despite his experience the club was relegated, having only gained a single point since the majority of the first team had walked out in February. In May the club brought in Matty Hale - a popular explayer - as their new manager, with another ex-player Ian Hutchinson as his assistant. After a disappointing start to the 2009-10 season Hale stepped down and Hutchinson was appointed caretaker manager. Following months of financial problems and near liquidation the club was taken over by George Rolls at the end of November 2009. After defeat by Chelmsford City in mid January 2010 Hutchinson was dismissed - followed by his assistant Andy Mason - and replaced by ex-Birmingham City player Jerry Gill. However, Gill only lasted 44 days before he resigned leaving assistant Andy Harris in charge. At the end of the 2009-10 season the club were relegated from the Blue Square South to the Zamaretto Premier League. Ian Hutchinson and Andy Mason returned to the club at the beginning of the following season with the task of rebuilding the Terras’ squad on a vastly reduced budget. After two post Christmas defeats Hutchinson was again relieved of his duties and succeeded by the vastly experienced Martyn Rogers, a former successful manager of Tiverton Town and ex-Weymouth player. Rogers successfully steered the club away from the relegation places but was
not awarded a contract for the 2010-11 season as the club appointed local man (and another ex-player) Brendon King to the manager’s role with Mattie Groves as his assistant. In February 2012 a consortium of local men and club supporters, led by then Chairman Nigel Biddlecombe, were able to buy the club and set about trying to both stabilize the Terras and lead it’s recovery. After a good 9th place finish in 2012-13 results were disappointing as 2013-14 got going and King paid the price when he was replaced by the club’s vastly experienced goalkeeper Jason Matthews, initially as caretaker, who has taken to the mantle of player-manager with fantastic enthusiasm. Jason certainly made his mark during his first season in charge but the Terras fell agonising short missing out on the play offs after being well placed at Christmas. The same story occurred in the following season where the Terras again missed out on a play off place on the last day of the season. The 2016-2107 season was also a major disappointment for the club as yet again we fell short finishing 10th. Matthews paid the price for the underperformance and left the club after the final of the Dorset Senior Cup with Mark Molesley and Paul Maitland acting as caretaker managers. Mark’s credentials and skill immediately impressed the club’s board who acted quickly to appoint Mark as manager before the last game of the season. This faith was repaid by the influx of quality players and a brand of exciting football. It was so near yet so far as despite qualify for the end of season play offs the Terras were undone by three wonder goals after a long midweek trip to Kings Lynn to miss out on the chance of promotion. The Terras went one better in 2018-2019 by not only winning the Southern League Premier South on the last day of the season in front of nearly 2700 fans but they also won the overall Champions of the Southern League by defeating the Premier Central winner Kettering Town on penalties. We now look forward to playing in the National League South in 2019-2020. The 2019/20 season turned into a very strange season indeed. The Terras performed really well and when the outbreak of Covid-19 kicked in and lockdown followed the Terras were in 3rd place in the league. Many months passed and then finally it was decided that the play-offs would take place and on Saturday 1st August the Terras defeated Dartford on penalties in the National South Play-Off Final to gain a double bonus promotion and find themselves back in the National League after a long ten year wait. Double promotion winning manager Mark Moseley moved onto the EFL with Southend Utd and under new manager Brian Stock, the Terras faithful are really looking forward to the season ahead.

DAGENHAM AWAY POSTCARD Dagenham’s an away day I don’t have many young memories of but rather one I have been to a few times in recent years. Growing up in Leeds, Dagenham wasn’t the easiest place to get to for us, in fact my first experience of an away day at Victoria Road was in 2016 I believe. This did result in a 2-0 win though and to be fair, up until this point we didn’t have the best record at Dagenham, so clearly I chose the right time to go. A standout memory for me are the goals from my first game at Dagenham in 2016. First up was an outstanding individual goal from Luke Gambin who took the ball for a run in the box and did a magical turn to lose their defender before sending a powerful shot into the back of the net. Our second goal came from a less likely suspect, our massive centre back Michael Nelson who was left free at the back post to nicely put away the ball. That win really was a pleasure to watch. However of all my trips to Dagenham, my favourite memory would probably have to be quite a recent one on the 29th December 2018. It was Darren Currie’s first game in charge against his former club so it made it a bigger occasion than just playing against one of our London rivals. Maybe it was the merriness of Christmas still waiting to wear off on everyone, but from the get go our fans were in high spirits making a lot of noise from behind the goal. Shaq scoring in the first half kept our mood high for the rest of the afternoon (despite the freezing cold) and when the ref blew his whistle and we had secured the 1-0 win, we made it known that we were very impressed with Darren Currie and the team that day. What a great way to kick off Darren’s time as manager! I am of course gutted we weren’t allowed to go last Tuesday mainly because I would’ve loved to have seen Eliot Richards’ stunning goal live! But I am glad we got the win and worked hard to come back from being one goal down.

The FA Cup is now at its’ third qualifying round stage, and of course there are a couple of our local rivals in action. St Albans City are at home to Mickleover of the Northern Premier League Premier Division, Hemel Hempstead Town are away at Boston United, and Bishop’s Stortford host Royston Town in a local derby. The games are set to take place across tonight and tomorrow evening, with the draw for the last of the qualifying round, in which Barnet enter, taking place at the end of the week, with those ties set to be played next weekend.
The second qualifying round of the FA Vase, took place over the weekend, but as of time of writing, the draw has not yet been made. However, there were, of course, even more of our local clubs in action. Harpenden Town travelled to Cogenhoe United and lost 2-1, St Panteleimon ere away at Rothwell Corinthians, losing 3-0, Oxhey Jets hosted North Greenford United, being beaten 3-1, and Broadfields United were at home to Milton Keynes Irish, losing 2-1. Edgware Town played Tring Athletic, winning 4-1 and Walthamstow hosted London Lions and beat them 3-1, in a repeat of the FA Cup extra preliminary round tie last month. Other results included: Ilford 1-1 Benfleet (4-3 on penalties), Newbury Forest 2-2 Burnham Ramblers (4-3 on penalties) and Colney Heaths trip to Holland (based near Clacton, Essex) getting postponed, to be played this weekend. New Salamis 3-0 Cornard United, Baldock Town 3-2 Halstead Town, Hoddesdon Town 2-1 Woodford Town, Hadley 1-1 Enfield Borough (8-7 on penalties), Cockfosters went to Park View and won 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw, London Colney were at Ipswich Wanderers, losing 1-0, Clapton went away to Potton United, and came back with a 3-1 win, and West Essex hosted Haverhill Rovers losing 4-3.
The FA Trophy is also at the second qualifying round stage, taking place in two weeks time, with yet more local rivals in action. FC Romania (of Cheshunt) are away at Hastings United, Northwood will be at home to Heybridge Swifts and Hertford Town are away against Faversham Town, whilst Romford are on the road at Tooting and Mitcham United. Barking will be home to Harlow Town, whilst Berkhamsted are away at Chertsey Town and Uxbridge host Waltham Abbey. Ware go to Burgess Hill Town, Welwyn Garden City go to Haywards Heath Town, and Aylesbury United are at home to Tilbury.
Yet another draw made recently is that for the first round of the London Senior Cup. In this round are Wingate and Finchley, who host Erith Town, Harrow Borough, who are at home to Glebe, Haringey Borough, who travel to Phoenix Sports, Watford, who are at Clapton, Cockfosters, who play Tower Hamlets, and Hendon, who have received a bye due to reaching last seasons’ final, alongside Brentford. Also in this round are Charlton Athletic, who have entered their under 23 team, AFC Wimbledon, who will travel to Balham, Dartford, who will play Dulwich Hamlet, and Leyton Orient, who face an away trip to Metropolitan Police. Dates of the ties are yet to be confirmed.
There are also several former Barnet players who have been on the move recently, and have now found new clubs. Mauro Vilhete has joined Wingate and Finchley, scoring a free kick in their 3-2 away win at Hornchurch last Tuesday. Max Crocombe, the New Zealand international who made 5 appearances whilst on loan here at the Hive back in 2015, has signed for Melbourne Victory in Australia, George Barker, who played for the club during the 2012/13 season, has joined Southern League Division One South side Moneyfields, and Cheye Alexander, who has moved up to League 1 side AFC Wimbledon.
Jean Louis Akpa Akpro has signed for Northern Premier League Premier Division side Radcliffe, Barry Fuller has joined Dorking Wanderers, and George Legg, the goalkeeper who played 3 times on loan in 2018, has joined Thatcham Town. Charlee Adams has joined Dagenham and Redbridge, where he has been joined in recent weeks by Paul McCallum, Callum Reynolds and Elliott Johnson, as well as Sam Deering, who joined the Daggers last year. Meanwhile, Ricardo Santos has joined Bolton Wanderers, Shaq Coulthirst has gone to Boreham Wood, Dan Sparkes has moved Maidenhead United, Simeon Akinola has now at Southend United, David Tutonda has gone to Bristol Rovers, and Dan Sweeney has signed for Forest Green Rovers.

Ahmed Abdulla ON 4 JULY 2012, ABDULLA SIGNED FOR BARNET He scored his first goal for Barnet against Salisbury City on 28 September 2013. His second goal was the winner in a 1–0 win at Hereford on 19 October. Ahmed Abdulla made 29 appearances for the Bees of the course of 3 seasons, but Abdulla was released at the end of the 2013–14 season. He was invited back for 2014–15 pre-season training. Abdulla played in pre-season friendlies for Barnet in 2014–15 but instead joined his current team Whitehawk. The now 28-year-old Saudi Arabian left Whitehawk to go on loan to the Metropolitan Police where he only made one appearance. Seeking more first team football he left Whitehawk and joined Wear for the 2017-18 season making a respectable 21 appearances but only managed to score the one goal. From 2018-19 he struggled to find a permanent club going from Heybridge Swifts to Concord Rangers to Hayes and Yeading to Bishop Stortford. Then he ended up back at Wear but only secured 6 appearances on his return to the club and very soon was looking elsewhere for consistent first team football. Whitehawk was the team for Abdulla, he has been there since December 2019 and has made 19 appearances scoring an impressive 12 goals

Barnet FC Fan of the week 1. First game? Tell us your memories
3. Favourite manager?
The first game would have been in the late 50`s when I was in my mid-teens. No recollection of the exact fixture but the routine on a Saturday was always the same. Boarded the 716 Greenline coach on the Barnet Bypass outside DeHavillands, Hatfield, got off at Barnet Church at the Trolley bus turning and walked down the hill. Always a sense of excitement and anticipation as you walked down the hill with a ever increasing band of supporters and saw the stadium for the first time. A drink from the tea hut in the corner of the stand by the Police – St. Johns base and then onto the terrace behind the goal. If the wrong end had been selected the ritual of changing ends and the mid terrace crush had to be negotiated and again at half time.
Must be between Dexter Adams and Barry Fry but for completely opposite reasons. Dexter brought stability and steady progress over many years at a time when owners did not demand overnight success linked to huge financial outlays. I understand that he was also a good man - manager and was able to keep players for long periods.
2 Favourite Barnet player? Should really pick Terry Casey who was a friend and fellow cricketer in Hatfield who often gave me his player pass so I could sit in the stand but in truth I was always a great fan of Gerry Ward. Ex. Arsenal midfielder, at one time the youngest player to play 1st team football for The Gunners at 16. The first person you would look for on the team-sheet, as you knew that you would get a quality, professional, cultured performance in midfield linking the defence with the front men of Colin Powell, Les Eason and Gordon Ferry.
On the other hand Barry brought something different to the club with his methods and unpredictability which is well documented in the club records and national media. You never knew what you were going to hear next about the club in the media.
4. Best Away day? Missed the famous Fisher game that everyone talks about, so my choice is not linked to a particular game but always looked forward to visiting the old grounds at Gay Meadow and Saltergate ( maybe because I stayed with friends near both grounds. ) The atmosphere at the old grounds with their wooden stands, tin roofs and refreshment kiosks and closeness to the pitch and players has long gone ( Underhill ? ) As a small gesture the family purchased a brick with the inscription of our names and Barnet F.C. on it for Chesterfields new stadium. ( attached photo).
to the players and management and the atmosphere that Underhill had in the past. Look forward as always to some more highs very soon so that I can forget the lows. Watching from behind the goal my friend Terry put through his own net against Preston N.E. and having to watch from outside the ground on a small BBC monitor on the back of a TV van the game at Underhill when we went out of the league. Missed the streaker, Greg Heald being sent off because we under estimated the size of the crowd that wanted to see us suffer.
7 Favourite goal. Not the most spectacular goal but one that gave the club and supporters hope. Sean Devine debut, came on and in no time picked up a pass just infront of us on the North West Terrance , had one thing on his mind, slipped passed a number of players went for goal with skill and determination a shot cleanly to score. We knew then we had a possible goal scoring recruit, which turned out to be correct.
8 Pre match superstitions. Not superstitious.
9. Your all-time Barnet XI from the period you’ve been supporting the Club? Players I would like to see in the team, but not sure how they would fit into a formation. Gary Phillips, Linvoy Primus, Greg Heald, Simon King, Terry Casey, Alan Pardew, Gerry Ward,Sean Devine, Paddy Powell, Les Eason, Andy Clarke. What? No Greaves, Freedman, Grazioli, Bull, Lowe, Carter, Davids, Akinde, Lye, Ferry ?etc etc so many good players left out.
10. Anything you wish to add to your profile? 5. Favourite moment as a Bees fan? Did not realize at the time how important it was but being at Wembley for the Challenge Trophy Final in 1972 against Stafford Rangers. Always thought that it would become a regular occurrence but sadly still waiting for the Bees to run out at Wembley. My two local teams have been their since, Bishops Stortford, last Amateur Cup ( inc. John Still ) and Stansted in the Vase, just hope we will be there soon.
Always been a fan and a regular season ticket holder since the late 50`s with no thoughts of changing to another club. Introduced both my sons and their friends to the club, and now my grandchildren. When in conversation with friends or people I met when working or now when on holiday and the subject of which football team do you support ? the next question is why Barnet ? not easy to answer but I hope some of the above notes will help.
6. What’s the best thing about being a Barnet fan? Never knowing what was going to be around the corner, the ups and downs , the elation of returning to the Football League and the despair of falling out again. Always appreciated Barnet being a family club and the closeness that fans can get

Match Report 1 DAGENHAM
AND REDBRIDGE
2 BARNET FC
THE BEES MADE A REMARKABLE COMEBACK TO CLAIM THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON AS THEY BEAT THE DAGGERS 2-1 AT VICTORIA ROAD. After going a goal behind in the first half, the Bees kept in themselves in the game, eventually being rewarded with an equaliser courtesy of JJ Hooper from the spot. Moments later, Elliot Richards put the Bees into the lead and with that claimed a big away win.
HOW IT HAPPENED The game itself had a fiery start to it, as was to be expected, with the added value of a London Derby attached to it. The first real chance fell to the Bees as Wesley Fonguck produced a better corner than his first, with the ball landing at Hooper’s feet, whose powerful effort was just about parried away by Elliot Justham. The Bees continued to threaten the Daggers goal with Alex McQueen given a chance to score against his old club, but his free-kick found itself on the wrong side of the post. The Daggers began to grow into the game with 20 minutes on the clock, having a larger proportion of the possession and beginning to threaten Scott Loach’s goal. Although both sides were having chances, in reality, they were mainly half-chances and weren’t of any real threat. However, just before the thirty-minute mark, the Daggers opened the scoring when Angelo Balanta headed in from a well timed cross.
The Bees could have found themselves straight back in the game, three minutes later, when Hooper did well to play in Fonguck, but his shot was too tame to pose any danger to Justham’s goal. McQueen in an almost identical position to his first free-kick played in a threatening cross which led to a corner. Fonguck received the ball from a short corner but hit his shot wide of the mark. The start of the second half mirrored that of the first with an intense showing from both sets of players, but no real pattern to the play. The next goal would be vital and you could tell the players could sense that, with neither side really committing numbers in attack. With an hour of the game played, the hosts were reduced to ten men, after Luke Croll received a second yellow card for dissent. It took just over twenty minutes for the first real chance of the half, as the Bees broke through, with Eliot Richards trying his luck from outside the area, which was held firmly by Justham as Hooper was closing in. The Daggers, who had been relatively quiet since the restart nearly doubled their lead with 15 minutes to go. Mitch Brundle launched a free-kick which caused all sorts of problems in the Bees area with the ball eventually being blasted off the bar from Callum Reynolds, somehow not going in. Jerome Binnon-Williams had been a constant threat down the left hand side and with ten minutes to go, fizzed a dangerous cross along the ground, which just evaded any of the Bees oncoming forwards. But, with 6 minutes to go, the Bees had a chance to equalise after Elliott Johnson handled the ball in the area. The resulting penalty was calming placed in the bottom right hand corner of the goal by Hooper, setting up an exciting finale to the game. After being behind for the majority of the game, The Bees suddenly found themselves in front, less than 3 minutes after equalising, when Richards tried yet again from outside the box with an effort on goal, which just crept its way past Justham. The Daggers though didn’t give up on getting something from the game, getting themselves a flurry of corners, which they were unable to make much of and with that the Bees claimed all three points.
Barnet FC Team: Loach, Preston, Dunne, McQueen, Richards (Duffus 90+1’), Hooper, Taylor, Fonguck, Binnon-Williams, Mason-Clark (Pavey 71’), Nugent Unused subs: Azaze, Fonguck.
Match Report 4 NOTTS COUNTY
HOW IT HAPPENED
2 BARNET FC
DESPITE A SPIRITED SECOND-HALF FIGHTBACK THE BEES LOST OUT TO PROMOTION FAVOURITES NOTTS COUNTY AT MEADOW LANE. The Bees fell three goals behind, before JJ Hooper brought us back in it with two strikes, but Michael Doyle’s injury time goal wrapped up the points for the Pies. Barnet FC Team: Loach, Duffus, Preston, Dunne (C), McQueen, Hooper, Taylor (Walker, 70’), Fonguck (Pavey, 81’), Binnom-Williams, MasonClark, Nugent Unused subs: Azaze, Pascal, Pavey, Vasiliou
The Magpies came close after just three minutes when Kyle Wootton took a diagonal pass down on his chest, before firing his right footed shot off the woodwork. The hosts did take the lead in the 14th minute when Cal Roberts found time and space on the edge of the Bees’ box and curled a left footed effort into the top corner of Scott Loach’s net. And Roberts turned provider moments later for the home side by firing in a cross for Kyle Wootton, who stabbed the ball home at the second time of asking. It went from bad to worse for Barnet just shy of the 22 minute mark, Enzio Boldewijn this time finding the back of the net with a low drive from the edge of the box, after another assist from Roberts. And it could’ve been four just after the half hour as Roberts found space to cross for Wootton, only for the latter to blaze his shot comfortably over the bar. JJ Hooper put the Bees on the board in the final minute of the first half. The big number 11 found a yard inside the Magpies’ box and drilled his effort low into the bottom corner. The Bees were buoyed by that late first half goal and started the second half the brighter of the two sides. Ephron Mason-Clark let fly with the first meaningful effort of the second half, seeing his dipping effort fly just wide of the County goal. The first chance of the second half for Notts didn’t come until the 67th minute, when Wes Thomas found himself on the end of a left wing cross, but powered his header wide of the mark. The Bees gave themselves a chance of a big comeback in the 75th minute. Good work from Mason-Clark released Josh Walker down the left wing and his cross-come-shot was parried into the path of Hooper, who tapped into the empty net. The hosts had the chance to put the result beyond doubt with 80 minutes played as a free kick found Connell Rawlinson at the far post, but his acrobatic header only found the side netting for Neal Ardley’s side. Peter Beadle sent Alfie Pavey on with ten minutes to play in a bid to find a dramatic late leveler, but Michael Doyle’s first time effort from the center of the box sealed the three points for the home side in the second minute of stoppage time.
