From the Manager GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE AND A VERY WARM WELCOME BACK TO THE HIVE LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON. WE WILL DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT THIS AFTERNOON. I was so disappointed with the performance on Wednesday night. It was quite simply not good enough, in particular the goals we conceded were very poor. To defend the way we did was unacceptable and once again we were punished. We can’t keep saying we have to hit the reset button, we have to start performing and getting results on a consistent basis. That has to start today and it;s down to us a group to show you our best performance. We have shown what we can do, performance wise on a few occasions already. But that isn’t good enough, you expect better and I expect better. I believe we are playing well in general play, but at both ends of the pitch we haven’t been good enough in some of the games. We have to defend in the way we did against Hartlepool and Burton, but also show some ruthlessness at the other end of the pitch too. We have the players to do that and now we have to show you our supporters what we are all about. I want to excite our fans and I want you to enjoy watching us.
This afternoon is going to be yet another difficult game, Wealdstone have adapted to the league pretty well and will be please with their opening 12 games. But I want this afternoon’s game to be about us and what we can do. We have to show a reaction and then move forward as a group.. I have faith in the boys and I have faith in us as a group of staff. I’d ask that you get right behind us, let’s use having the supporters back as an advantage, hopefully you can really spur us on this afternoon. I am thrilled to have our fans coming back into the stadium. It’s what we’ve all wanted all season and I am glad the day has finally arrived. I hope that we can cap today’s occasion with an important three points. I completely understand the disappointment felt in our performance Wednesday, so it’s now down to us to start to put things right. Thanks as always for your support!

From the Captain
GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE AND WELCOME BACK TO THE HIVE LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MARCH. It’s great to have you back with us and I hope despite the recent disappointing and unacceptable results, you’ll stick with us this afternoon. We are all desperate to return to winning ways and I really hope we can give you something to shout about as we welcome Wealdstone to The Hive. It is essential we put Wednesday night behind us, I can only apologise to you for the performance and result. We were simply not good enough and there are no excuses for the way we let the score go the way it did on Wednesday. We have to put that right and there’s no better way of starting to redeem ourselves by winning with our fans in front of us to see it. We have to prove that we’re good enough because at the moment we aren’t showing it enough, so we’ll keep working hard and turn this around. You can play a massive part this afternoon, we have to make the most of the fact that there are only home fans in the ground. We have a real chance to create an atmosphere and use it to our advantage, so please do everything you can to get behind us and we’ll do our best to make you happy. The turnaround has to start today. Thanks for your support!

Dougie Freedman FREEDMAN BEGAN HIS CAREER WITH TOPFLIGHT QPR IN 1992 But never made their first team. He moved to The Bees who at the time were playing down in the third division on a free transfer in July 1994 At the age of 20. He made his league debut in August 1994 and struck 24 goals in his debut season which lead to many big clubs keeping a close eye on the young talent . A bright start to the following season attracted the interest of Crystal Palace . Despite only spending a short spell at Barnet at the beginning of his playing career, Freedman was voted as the fans’ favourite player in the club’s all-time history in late 2007. Dougie was before my time, but his time in black amber seemed to be successful, he was a very prolific striker and always had the Underhill faithful edging off their seats when the ball landed at either his left or right foot.
made his contract permanent in a £800,000 combined deal with Palace defender Kevin Muscal. However, Freedman’s time at Wolves only lasted until the end of the 97-98 season. He was top goal scorer with 13 in total in a season that saw Wolves fail to mount a serious promotion challenge. Although, Freedman’s starting position was in question because of the emergence of striker Robbie Keane during the season which convinced Wolves to sell Dougie and that ended his spell at Molineux as he made way for the up and coming young Irish talent.
In August 1998 Freedman signed for newly promoted side Notts Forest for a fee of Freedman was signed by Crystal Palace £900,000. He made his first appearance for for a fee of £800,000 in September 1995. Forest on 17th August 1998 as a substitute He instantly showed he could continue his in a 2–1 defeat at Arsenal. In his first full goalscoring form at the higher level when he campaign in the topflight in 1998–99 he netted 20 times in the 95-96 season and yet scored 9 league goals for Forest who were again was rapidly becoming a fan favourite but relegated that season to Division One. In his this time in South London. second season at Forest in 1999–2000, the club languished in mid-table under manager His 1996–97 season saw a less prolific 11 David Platt. Freedman made a total of 81 league goals but helped the club to promotion appearances, scoring 23 goals, before being through a successful play-off run. He scored sold back to Crystal Palace in October 2000. crucial goals in the 89th and 90th minutes of their Play Off semi-final tie with Wolves after Freedman re-joined Palace for a transfer fee of coming off the bench with 17 minutes left. £600,000 and Selhurst Park became his home Palace went on to win promotion at Wembley for the next 8 years. He netted 64 times in in the Play Off final, beating Sheffield United 239 appearances for The Eagles before being loaned out to Leeds United and then retiring 1–0. Freedman’s experience of Premier League football in the 1997–98 season proved after a 2-year spell at Southend United scoring short-lived though as he only managed seven 6 goals in 36 appearances. topflight games before being sold to Wolves. BARNET OVER 50’S The Barnet Walking Football team and Wealdstone Walking Football team Of which both play in the Middlesex FA Central League saw their rivalry begin in 2019 Barnet won the over 60’s league and Wealdstone runners-up with the teams reversing positions in the over 50’s league. Barnet over 60’s on their way to the title drew both matches with Wealdstone but finished top by 4 points whereas the over 50’s finished 1 point behind after winning and losing their matches during the season. A magnificent achievement from all involved.
FLASHBACK December 2018 and after our brilliant Christmas party which left many with sore heads and dark glasses the following day was also the day where we were contacted by West Ham United to ask if we could help them due to a late drop out in their mini tournament at the London Stadium. We were happy to oblige and agreed to take part. In true party pooper style, Kevin Ziants led the team to win the tournament beating West Ham and Crystal Palace on the way with goals from Tony Bartolo and Terry Sweeney in the process.
Wealdstone Football were founded at the beginning of the 1899/00 season Competing in Division 2 of the Willesden & District League, winning their first title in the 1905/06 season but were defunct a year later, reforming for the 1908/09 season becoming champions again in 1912/13. After the First World War, Wealdstone joined the London Senior League and then the Middlesex Senior League, moving into Lower Mead Stadium situated between Harrow and Wealdstone town centres in 1922 after previously playing at the College Farm Ground and Belmont Road, both in Wealdstone, they joined the Spartan League for their first season at Lower Mead and then joined the Athenian League in 1928/29. The Stones won the Middlesex Cup double in 1930, winning the Senior Challenge Cup and Senior Charity Cup for the first time and currently have won each trophy a total of 11 times, sharing the Charity Cup on two other occasions. The Stones played at Wembley Stadium for the first time during the Second World War in 1942, where they beat RAF (Uxbridge) 5-2 after extra time in the Middlesex Senior Red Cross Cup Final. In 1946 the club was involved in the first televised football match, where the BBC showed part of their Athenian League fixture match away to Barnet. The Stones also took part in the first two ‘live’ FA Cup matches to be screened to BBC viewers in their FA Cup victories over Edgware Town and Colchester United in 1949, they met a Football League side for the first time later in that cup run where they were narrowly beaten by Port Vale in the First Round Proper.
TODAY’S OPPOSITION
The club won their one and only Athenian League in 1951/52, joining the Isthmian League in 1964. Two years later the Stones enjoyed their second Wembley success, defeating league rivals Hendon 3-1 in the FA Amateur Cup Final at Wembley in front of 45,000 spectators. The Stones turned professional in 1971, joining the Southern League where they won the First Division South in 1974 earning them promotion to the Premier Division which then meant the Stones became one of the founding members of the Alliance Premier League in 1979, what is now the National League. A year before that though, the Stones enjoyed their best run in the FA Cup, defeating Football League clubs Hereford United and Reading on route to the Third Round where they made the short trip to Loftus Road to play First Division club Queen’s Park Rangers, unfortunately the Stones were beaten 4-0 on the day by the R’s. Later that season the Stones played in Europe, featuring in the annual Anglo-Italian Tournament, they beat Paganese 4-2 before losing 1-0 to eventual winners Udinese, both at Lower Mead, the Stones then travelled to Italy but were beaten 1-0 by Reggiana and 2-0 by Arezzo. The club didn’t suffer a relegation until the 1980/81 season but returned to the Conference a season later, winning all five trophies on offer in the Southern League that season. The 1984/85 was the club’s golden year, becoming the first ever club to win the ‘non-league double’ winning both the Conference and FA Trophy in the same season, the club completed a treble that season winning the Middlesex Senior Challenge Cup, too. Within a few short years the club had been relegated from the Conference into the Southern League Premier Division 1987/88 and then the Southern League Southern Division in 1991/92. The season before also saw the Stones sell their traditional home of Lower Mead in order to stay in existence, the company handling the sale of Lower Mead then went into liquidation and after lengthy court proceedings, the club only received a fraction of the sum Tesco’s had paid for the land. A seventeen-year period of groundsharing began at Watford’s Vicarage Road for two seasons, and then at Yeading FC for another two seasons. The 1995/96 season saw a new era for the club as they began a groundshare with Edgware Town at their White Lion Ground and had left the Southern League to rejoin the Isthmian League for the first time since 1971, although at a cost as they had to begin two tiers lower in the Isthmian Third Division, where they finished fourth in their first season. Two successive promotions followed under the guidance of manager Gordon Bartlett who would spend 22 successful years at the club. The Stones almost made it three successive promotions but were denied promotion due to Edgware Town’s stadium not meeting the necessary requirements for the top Isthmian division. The Stones eventually won promotion in the 2003/04 season beating Dulwich Hamlet in a play-off final penalty shootout. The Stones moved to Northwood FC’s Chestnut Avenue ground for the 2005/06 where they would spend three years. The club spent a solitary season back in the Southern League in 2006/07 before returning to the Isthmian League the following season. The club acquired a lease to the then defunct Ruislip Manor FC’s Grosvenor Vale ground in 2008, with dedicated fans helping to bring the stadium up to the
standard required by the Isthmian League and from the start of the 2008/09 season had a stadium and clubhouse of their own. At The Vale the club has prospered, hosting Football League clubs Colchester United and Rotherham United in the FA Cup, reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals twice and earning two promotions. The first success story came in the 2010/11 season, where they lost in the semi-finals of the FA Trophy to eventual winners Newport County, beating National League sides Barrow, Dartford and Cambridge United in that cup run. The 2013/14 season saw Gordon Bartlett’s final promotion as Wealdstone manager where they won the Isthmian Premier League as champions, promoting them into the National League South. The BBC cameras rolled into Grosvenor Vale the following season, as the Stones made it to the First Round Proper for the first time since 1987, eventually losing 6-2 to League One side Colchester United. The first managerial change in 22 years came early in the 2017/18 season where Gordon Bartlett was replaced by Bobby Wilkinson despite narrowly missing the play-offs the season before. Wilkinson spent two seasons with the Stones, with the club reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals again in his first season, again losing to eventual winners Brackley Town and then reaching the National League South play-offs the season after, where final minute heartache saw them lose out to Woking in the semi-final. Wilkinson left the club after the 2018/19 season and was replaced by former Hemel Hempstead Town manager Dean Brennan. With a reduced budget, Brennan delivered the National League South title for the Stones with a breathtaking style of attacking football that saw them dismantle title rivals Havant & Waterlooville (4-2 away) and Bath City (7-0 at home) in emphatic victories to take the Stones back to the pinnacle of the nonleague pyramid for the first time in over 30 years.
DEAN
BRENNAN
The Manager
DEAN BRENNAN WAS APPOINTED WEALDSTONE BOSS IN MAY 2019 He was best known for a successful six-year spell at Hemel Hempstead Town Brennan began his footballing career at Sheffield Wednesday but despite impressing at youth and reserve levels, he never made a first team appearance for the Owls. After being released by Wednesday in the summer of 2000, Brennan returned home to Ireland and went on trial at Bohemians. He made two appearances for the club in the FAI Super Cup but manager Roddy Collins decided not to sign the midfielder.
(fourth in Southern League Premier Division) this meant that they had qualified for the playoffs. They reached the final against Gosport Borough, where they drew 2–2 which sent the game to penalties which was lost 5–4.
Brennan then went on trial at Luton Town and this time was more successful, earning a twoyear contract at Kenilworth Road. He made his debut for the club in a 2–1 defeat at Wigan Athletic soon after. However, he never became a regular first team choice and in 2002 moved to Hitchin Town.
After a disastrous start to their first season in the Conference South league, Hemel finished in a creditable 9th position. Also they reached the First Round of the FA Cup, losing at Bury 3–1, this after taking the lead by James Potton. As Bury scored two late goals to take them through.
Luton would prove to be his last taste of League football as he drifted around the non-League scene with spells at Stevenage, Grays Athletic, Lewes, AFC Wimbledon, Cambridge City, Chesham United and Hemel Hempstead Town in the following years. In his brief spell with Wimbledon he earned the nickname “the Irish Beckham”, a reference to his high quality crossing ability. While at Grays he helped them win the 2004–05 FA Trophy. In August 2009, Brennan signed for Spartan South Midlands Football League Premier Division side Aylesbury. In 2010, he rejoined Hemel Hempstead Town, and in March after the sacking of manager Gary Phillips, he was appointed as caretaker manager at the age of just 29. Brennan began a second spell with Dunstable Town at the start of the 2011–12 season. He joined as player/coach and managed the team in cup ties. In May 2012 he rejoined Hemel Hempstead Town this time as manager. He helped the Tudors to their highest ever finish
The following season saw promotion to the Conference South, after winning the Southern Premier League by 10 clear points.
The 2015–16 National League South season saw Brennan’s Hemel just miss out on the playoffs as Whitehawk pipped them on the last day, to that all important fifth place. On 18 September 2018, Brennan and his assistant Stuart Maynard were appointed by team owner Glenn Tamplin as the managerial team at National League South side Billericay Town. However, they both had their contracts terminated by Tamplin after less than four months in the job on Wednesday 16 January 2019. On 12 February 2019, Brennan was named as the new manager of Isthmian League Premier Division side Kingstonian. Stuart Maynard was also confirmed as the club’s new assistant manager. They departed after just five games in charge on 16 March 2019. On 21 May 2019, Brennan was named as the new manager of National League South side Wealdstone. Stuart Maynard was also confirmed as the club’s new assistant manager.

What’s the Buzz Josh Palmer
After winning his first game in charge of the club last weekend, a 1-2 victory away at Weymouth, then drawing 0-0 at home to Aldershot Town on Tuesday, new Chesterfield manager James Rowe has made his first two new signings. The first of these is former Leicester City academy player Jak McCourt, who last played for Macclesfield Town, as well as previously turning out for the likes of Torquay United, Port Vale, Barnsley, Northampton Town and Swindon Town, and has also played for the Spireites during the 2017/18 season. Second in at the Technique Stadium is Tom Whelan, who joins from Weymouth for an ‘undisclosed fee’.
With the second round proper taking place last weekend, seeing our unfortunate but narrow 1-0 defeat against MK Dons here at the Hive, the draw for the third round proper has taken place. Some notable ties include the four non league sides remaining in the competition; National League North side Chorley host Championship side Derby County, National League Premier sides Boreham Wood and Stockport County host Championship side Millwall and Premier League side respectively, and the lowest ranked side still remaining, Marine, of the Northern Premier League Division One North West, have been given a dream draw – a home fixture against Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur. Other ties include Arsenal vs Newcastle United, Manchester United vs Watford, Manchester City vs Birmingham City, and Chelsea vs Morecambe.
National League South side Billericay Town have revealed that their players and staff are all self isolating until 13th December. This comes after an unnamed member of the squad or staff tested positive for Covid 19 after their 6-2 home defeat against Hampton and Richmond last weekend. Their match against Chelmsford City on Tuesday was postponed, as is their trip to Dartford next Saturday, and are yet to be rearranged. The side are currently managed by former Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackpool and Fulham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who is also part of the playing squad since joining the club back in 2017.
Rated Excellent On TrustPilot
Another club have this week have also had to announce the postponement of a handful of their matches. This time it is National League side Dover Athletic, who have been forced to postpone five fixtures. The first of these was their trip to Maidenhead United on Tuesday night, which was cancelled just four hours before kick off. Their home fixtures against Chesterfield today and Solihull Moors on Tuesday, and away games at Wrexham next Saturday and Wealdstone on Tuesday 15th December are also off. It is currently unclear when these ties will eventually be played, and if the side will even take part in the FA Trophy, with the third round expected to be played on 19th December.
Spennymoor Town have announced that they have withdrawn from the Durham Challenge Cup, due to their severe fixture congestion. The side have already had several league matches postponed last minute due to their opponents having some players test positive for Covid 19, as well as a run to the third round of the FA Cup as well as an FA Trophy second round tie to be played next week. The side reached the final of the competition last season, and were due to play Sunderland back in May, but this was ultimately never played, becoming yet another fixture to fall victim to the pandemic and its’ subsequent lockdown.
This weekend was scheduled to see the second round proper of the FA Trophy be played, however due to the lockdown and subsequent postponements, the first round proper fixtures will instead be played this Tuesday. There are also several of our local sides in action in this round, including Enfield Town, who will host Maldon and Tiptree, Wingate and Finchley, who will travel to Hornchurch, Uxbridge, who are at home to Cray Wanderers, Haringey Borough, who host Bishop’s Stortford, and Cheshunt, who are one the road at Lowestoft Town. Welwyn Garden City have also been given a home tie against Hednesford Town, as have Biggleswade Town, who host Bedford Town. Hitchin Town will entertain Mickleover, Kings Langley will travel to St Neots Town, and Royston Town play Tamworth. The second round proper will then take place on the 15th, with the third round, where National League Premier sides enter the competition, being played on Saturday 19th.

Match Report 0 BARNET FC
THE BEES WENT OUT OF THE EMIRATES CUP, AFTER A BATTLING DISPLAY, LOSING 1-0 TO MK DONS. Despite enjoying some good phases of possession and a few good chances, it was MK Dons who would get the win with just under ten minutes of the game
HOW IT HAPPENED The Bees were aiming to cause yet another cup upset, as they welcomed League One opposition again to the Hive, this time in the form of MK Dons. It was nearly the perfect start for the Bees, when Ephron MasonClark pounced on a loose ball straight after kick off, only for his shot to be palmed away by Lee Nicholls in the Dons goal. This lightening start continued for the National League outfit, with Michael Petrasso inches away from being one on one with the keeper, only for Richard Keogh to pull off a superb last ditch challenge. Neither side were really having any meaningful chances, but the Bees were the team having the greater joy on the ball. MasonClark especially was causing a lot of bother to the visitors backline. Just after the half hour mark, the Dons had a fantastic opportunity to break the deadlock when Regan Poole hit the underside of the crossbar.
1 MK DONS FC
This instilled some confidence in the League One side, as they began to take a foothold in the game, with Stephen Walker blasting just over the bar, after his side had broken in numbers. The Bees were resolute in defence to hold off some late surges from their visitors to keep the scores level as they went into the break. Just like the first half, the Bees tried to get off the mark quickly, this time with JJ Hooper, who was given space to shot from 25 yards over, but his shot went well over. The game really picked up with just under 35 minutes to go. Anthony Wordsworth played in an inch-perfect cross, with it eventually falling to Mason-Clark who attempted an acrobatic effort after Muhammadu Faal had guided the ball to him. About five minutes later, the Dons had a near effort of their own, when they broke on the left with the incoming ball being cleared away by Jerome Binnom-Williams, as the game became real end to end stuff. Chances were really starting to pick up for both sides, as we entered the last 20. The visitors were inches away from curling in the opener, before Wes Fonguck glided in a cross which somehow just evaded Hooper. James Dunne was unlucky not to score from range, when he was laid off from about 30 yards out, but Nicholls got down to hold the ball well. However, it was the Dons who would take the lead, when former Premier League striker Jerome poked home with back of his heel, from close range, on 81 minutes. In stoppage time, the Bees threw everything at trying to find that vital equaliser, even with Ben Nugent playing high up the field and could have easily scored himself but decided to play in Antonis Vasiliou whose shot was blocked and so it was the Dons who would advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
Match Report 5 FC HALIFAX TOWN
THE BEES SUFFERED A HEAVY DEFEAT AT THE SHAY STADIUM, AS FC HALIFAX TOWN TOOK ALL THREE POINTS. HOW IT HAPPENED The Bees made the worst possible start as the Shaymen opened the scoring in the opening 30 seconds as Jeff King fired past Loach. King was the threat again just moments later as his shot across goal was well saved by the feet of Loach. It was shakey start for Beadle’s side, whilst the Shaymen came flying out the blocks. Anthony Wordsworth had our first chance after 18 minutes as he got on the end of Ephron Mason-Clark’s cutback, but his strike was blocked before his prodded follow up went inches wide of the post. It would be the hosts who would add a second goal on 21 minutes as Bell powered a header home from six yards out after a good cross from the right. It could have been three two minutes later as former Bee Jake Hyde was inches away from making contact from a powerful driven cross. As the Bees searched for a route back into the game, Wordsworth saw a free-kick saved on the half hour mark.
2 BARNET FC
Things didn’t get any better for us on the stroke of half time, as Hyde added a third for Shaymen after he forced a way through on goal. The hosts added a fourth just two minutes after the break as Jake Earing headed home on the rebound after Loach made a good first stop from a long range effort. A quickfire fifth goal was soon added as Wood curled home an unstoppable freekick from the edge of the box. On 68 minutes the Bees got a consolation goal, as Wes Fonguck bundled home after a neat passing move from Beadle’s side. . Twelve minutes before the end Wes Fonguck had a strike from the edge of the box claimed by the Shaymen ‘keeper. On 85 minutes we had our second of the evening as new signing Inih Effiong chested home after Faal’s strike looped into the air and towards goal. But it was too little too late for the Bees, as we fell to defeat at The Shay Stadium.
