CHARLOTTE CORNISH
‘IN WONDER’ We are delighted to be exhibiting the work of Charlotte Cornish at Studio 18. Charlotte is a well known and respected artist who lives and works in Cambridge. Charlotte studied a degree in Fine Art (Printmaking) at Brighton University from 1987-1990, followed by postgraduate courses at the Slade School of Fine Art and Central St Martins in London. She is exhibiting and selling paintings and prints nationally and internationally. Her work is included in numerous private and corporate collections, and also collections in several Cambridge University colleges. Charlotte says:

‘The dominant theme of my work is the nature of human experience. Creating tensions and harmonies through colour and form, I try to capture a sense of what it feels like to be alive.’
‘In Wonder’ is a collection of paintings, works on paper and Limited Edition Original Prints. The most recent paintings have been completed this year. I have always taken inspiration from personal experiences, often during travel abroad. Over the past few years I have also worked from themes developed from closer to home; walking through woods, visits to the east coast. Using photographs and small painted studies as a starting point, my compositions then become abstracted. I am particularly interested in using colour to engage and excite the eye, communicating something of the wonder of our world! On the following pages are some of the works included in the exhibition. In total there will be 40 works displayed. As you see, Charlotte’s work is both colourful and vibrant. We look forward to seeing you. An exhibition not to be missed!
