Barossa Old Vine Charter

Barossa is home to what is believed to be the world’s oldest, continually producing Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mataro, Riesling and Semillon vines. The Barossa Old Vine Charter was introduced in 2009 to register vineyards by age, so that older vines could be preserved and promoted. The Charter groups vineyards into four categories by age:

Old Vine equal to or greater than 35 years of age

Survivor Vine equal to or greater than 75 years of age

Centenarian Vine equal to or greater than 100 years of age

Ancestor Vine equal to or greater than 125 years of age. Look for these categories throughout this catalogue.
