Project Team
The M Group
was established in 1987 as a full service Architectural Firm. While specializing in Commercial Architecture & Interior Architecture, the focus continues to be a realistic approach to quality design. This attitude has translated into a consistent record of innovative work, completed within real-world schedule and budget constraints. With projects in more than 25 states, the majority of the firm’s work is within the National Capital Region. The M Group exists to produce excellent architectural design. Their success results in supporting clients as they in turn achieve their business goals. The M Group’s formula for success is derived from: • An awareness that a good design process is the foundation of both a successful project and a long - term relationship. • Knowing that good design is good for their client’s business. Architecture promotes efficiency, attracts talent and helps retain employees. • The M Group remaining conscious that design decisions can and will have an impact on how the client is viewed by their clients. • The fact that each project is adopted as if it were being designed for The M Group’s own, long-term environment. With their core expertise in the design of commercial buildings and commercial interiors, The M Group’s clients include corporations, tech companies, government contractors, design-build contractors, associations, developers and institutional owners. Over time, the firm has demonstrated a willingness to participate in the lead role in traditional design/bid/ build, or as a team member in a design/build delivery process.
KPMG
Baltimore, Maryland
Unusual projects that offer design, schedule, budget and technical challenges crowd the firm’s portfolio. Recent assignments for KPMG LLP in Baltimore, Maryland, McLean Virginia and Norfolk Virginia all offered such challenges. The Baltimore project, for example, involved the complete rebuilding of the sixth floor of what previously had been 1970’s era building. Encompassing 30,000 sq. ft., the space overlooks Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The tenant sought a professional and unique environment, while exploiting views of the harbor as much as possible.
E Group Reston, Virginia
In 2009, Reston, Virginia based E Group sought out The M Group to design a new office with descriptions that included unique, crisp, clean and bright. E Group, who specializes in innovative recognition programs and branded product solutions, was interested in fostering their collaborative processes by abandoning a private office layout, in favor of an openplan environment. The M Group was able to deliver what their client envisioned. The design exploits the expanse of glass provided by the long and narrow space by allowing all of the custom designed workstations access to the natural light. Furthermore, the carefully woven variety of materials and textures combine to provide a richness of environment not often found in a commercial setting.
NAP of the Capital Region Culpeper, Virginia
When completed, Site 1 of the NAP of the Capital Region campus will consist of five data center buildings, housing approximately 670,000 sq ft of developed space and providing one of the most secure and sophisticated data centers on the East Coast. Currently, the site is contained and along with support structures, three of the data center buildings are operational, with the fourth now under construction. Another structure, the Headquarters Building, opened in spring 2010 and includes a 100+ seat auditorium with integrated lighting and AV controls built to the Federal government's Physical Security Standards for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF). Additionally, there is approximately 50,000 sq ft of Class A office space customizable to SCIF specifications. NCR's headquarters building is home to Terremark's state-of-the-art Network Operations Center. The building also houses Terremark’s on-campus staff and is equipped with fully redundant backup systems for power and cooling infrastructure.
