The centrepiece of “Christmas in Basel” consists of the atmospheric Christmas markets on Münsterplatz and Barfüsserplatz with 185 stalls. In the midst of the glittering Old Town you will find unique gifts and warming meals and snacks. You can enjoy a stroll between the charming Christmas trees and historic buildings. But there are other worlds worth discovering outside of Grossbasel: In Kleinbasel, on the other side of the festively illuminated Middle Bridge, the Claraplatz draws in the crowds with its atmospheric “Sennenhütte”.

With 129 shops the “Barfi” amazes visitors of all ages with a spectacular variety of gifts, decorations, fine crafts and seasonal specialties. The delicious dining options can satisfy any hunger and quench any thirst. The view in front of the Barfüsserkirche extends across the white roofs of the pretty market stalls.
