Discover more about the churches and monasteries in the Middle Ages, their inhabitants, their daily lives and traditions. Duration: 1.5 hours

St. Alban-Tal – Basel's little Venice. Intensely romantic, quiet and shrouded in myth and mystery, join us on a visit to the St. Alban quarter. This lovingly restored quarter of the city is littered with tiny canals and waterways and is a genuine hidden gem. This is where the past and present meet, with traditional handicraft and former industrial buildings, old timber-framed buildings and modern architecture, the mediaeval paper mill and the Museum for Contemporary Art. Where life in the city of both today and yesterday collide. Duration: 1.5 hours

St. Johann – a district for the future. Hardly any place in Basel has been subject to so many changes in recent years as the St. Johann district. A place to live, study, research and work. Let this tour surprise you with the diversity of the area, where innovation is written in capital letters. Duration: 1.5 hours

The Nightwatchman's secret. Come along and join nightwatchman Rudolf Streiff on his evening tour through the quiet streets and narrow lanes of the picturesque old part of Basel known as St. Alban-Vorstadt. On his way, he will tell you about the adventures, the long-past stories and the way of life in the olden days of the people of St. Alban-Tal. He will also let you in on his secret and unrequited love for the beautiful and highborn Helena who will cross his path whilst he is making his tour. Duration: 75 minutes

Basel for sports fans. Discover Basel and have a workout at the same time. Our tour for sports fans will get you right up to speed! Jogging through the city you discover pretty streets, secluded piazzas and all of the most important sights. During brief stops you learn about the city's rich history and interesting facts from past to date. Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours

Segway city tour. Discover the most beautiful sights of the city by Segway – the combination of culture and innovative technology has never been so much fun! The tour of Basel's Old Town passes spectacular buildings from the 15th century and gives you an insight into more than 2,000 years of the city's history. To drive a Segway you will require a valid driving licence of category A1/F (scooter) or category B (car). Duration: 2.5 – 3 hours

Basel by bicycle. Bicycles are an extremely popular mode of transport in Basel. What could be nicer than discovering the city by trusty pushbike? We will take you on a journey of discovery of a special kind. We start at the Swiss Railway Station (SBB) and wind along the St. Alban-Tal to the Grossbasel quarter of the city centre. The tour takes us past all of the most important sights of the city, down Spalenvorstadt to the Steinenberg and from there back to where we started from. A tour to discover the city with the wind in your hair. Duration: 1.5 hours

Augusta Raurica. Join us on our tour in the Roman city of Augusta Raurica and discover more about ancient health spas, porridge and 20-man latrines. Experience the daily life of the ancient Romans! We fill the imposing ruins with life and tell you the stories of how the Romans lived, ate, bathed and entertained themselves. We will also show you the remarkable silver treasure at the Roman museum. Duration: 2 hours

Basel at Christmas. Art and modern architecture. Basel has never been afraid of treading new ground. This is reflected in the city's striking array of buildings that were designed by internationally renowned architects. Go on a tour to view these outstanding examples of modern architecture: works by Mario Botta, Renzo Piano, Richard Meier, Herzog & de Meuron and many more. Choose from themes such as „Major Buildings for the Future”, „Between the Old Town and Green Oases”, „Working and Living in Kleinbasel”, „Modern Architecture in St. Johann” or „Architectural Bus Tour”. Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours Besides the modern buildings, the streets and squares of Basel are adorned with numerous works of art as well. Join us on our special tour through an open air art gallery of „Art in the City”. Duration: 1.5 hours

Novartis Campus. With its first-class architecture and exquisite design, the St. Johann campus is being transformed into a modern workplace and new home of the pharmaceuticals company Novartis, to the benefit of the company itself, its employees and the city of Basel as a whole. On selected Saturdays you have the opportunity of visiting the campus with expert guidance around the facility by Novartis employees. The income generated from all tours is donated by Novartis to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Duration: 2 hours

Discover Basel during Christmas time and learn about old and new Christmas customs and traditions. Allow yourself to be enchanted by the charm of Basel during the advent period. In addition to decorative lighting, Christmas trees and angels, you will discover a rich history and a richness of Christmas traditions in the city on the Rhine. Duration: 1.5 hours

Carnival in Basel. Basel's famous Carnival begins on the Monday following Ash Wednesday with the „Morgestraich” lantern parade at 4 am on Monday morning, when the city is plunged into darkness and the Carnival cliques take control for the three-day event. On this tour you will discover everything there is to know about Basel's Carnival, from its origins to the present day. Duration: 1.5 hours

Cathedral. Discover the glorious Basel Cathedral (M端nster), the most famous landmark of our city. Built on a hill overlooking the Rhine with red sandstone walls, colourful roof tiles and twin towers, no other building adorns the cityscape of Basel like the Cathedral. Discover the rich history and fabulous sculptures and artworks of this beautiful building.

City Hall. Basel's City Hall is a combination of fine architecture, art and politics. The splendid City Hall on Marktplatz is still the seat of the government of the canton of Basel-City. On our tour through the rooms of the canton's parliament and the Governing Council, we will inform you of the political history of the city and the current situation within the canton of Basel-Stadt.

Spalentor.

Historical buildings. Basel lives and breathes history. Enjoy an extensive tour of one of the three most striking historical sights; you will not fail to be impressed as you walk through these witnesses to Basel's past. Duration: 1 hour

Climb up the steep stairs of the mediaeval city gate Spalentor and discover one of the most famous landmarks of the city. The climb is well worth the effort and the views across the rooftops of the Old Town are simply wonderful. A quick breather on each level gives you the opportunity to discover the city's defence works and the history of this splendid construction. Furthermore, the Spalentor also has the highest open-air toilet of Basel.
