Welcome back…

It’s that time of year again when we can finally share the new Bath Children’s Literature Festival programme with you!

Expect fantastic names such as Harry Hill, Andy Stanton and Chris Riddell as well as Jacqueline Wilson, Liz Pichon and Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

We will also be joined by our amazing cover illustrator and creator of Amelia Fang, Laura Ellen Anderson – look out for her event on page 46. There is something for everyone!

Poetry Slam Building on the success of 2018, we’re doing it again. Book a poetry workshop, get your pupils writing and performing, host your own poetry slams and then bring your winners to perform alongside other schools at the festival on National Poetry Day! We’ll send you a resource pack with all the info to get started, email us to find out more and to book a place.

Our festivals provide a focus for inspiration and celebration, and a platform that gives value to the voices of children and young people from Bath and the surrounding area. In 2018 over 8,000 children and young people took part in our events and projects.

Riverside Library We’re working with Mentoring Plus to create a new community library at Riverside Youth Hub, so all the young people that use the space have an opportunity to access books on a regular basis as well as developing a book group for Mentoring Plus mentors and mentees.

For these events (marked in the brochure with the masterclass badge) you need only buy a ticket for each child joining in with the activities. Adults attend for free should they wish to stay. If not, we ask parents/ guardians to drop children off at the venue, sign them in, and leave a mobile contact number in case of emergencies. Please ensure that you return to collect your child/ children at the specific event end time.

Event times are approximate and doors open 15 minutes before each event.

Tickets are non-refundable, but if an event sells out the Bath Box Office are happy to offer returned tickets for resale. A ÂŁ2 per ticket handling charge will apply on all resold tickets. Transaction and postage fees are non-refundable. Programmes and performers may be subject to change. All information in this programme was correct at the time of going to press.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY Children under 12 must be accompanied by a ticket buying adult at all festival events unless otherwise stated. Children under 2 do not require a ticket, unless otherwise stated.

Bath Festivals maintains a Safeguarding Policy, but cannot act in loco parentis or take responsibility for wandering children.

FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY

VENUE INFORMATION AND ACCESS TO PERFORMANCES Our festival takes places in a range of venues across the city. All our venues are wheelchair accessible and most of our venues offer hearing loops and admit registered assistance dogs; please see map p71 for facilities. Upon arriving at the venue, staff and stewards wearing festival lanyards will be happy to help guide you to your seat and any other facilities. We are happy to provide early entrance options if audience members need to avoid crowds.

We are happy to book British Sign Language interpreters for events if required. Please contact our Access Officer at least two weeks prior to the event. We do not offer captioning, audio description and relaxed performances at the present time.
